Just thought I'd make a post on the ICC Tournament for the non-Test playing nations - a good idea if you ask me. 3 day games these, the semi-final line up: Kenya v Bermuda Ireland v UAE Day 1: Kenya have taken a dominant position in their match, declaring on 403/6 (Steve Tikolo 220, Hidesh Modi 98*) and reducing Bermuda to 13/1 at stumps. I would expect Kenya to be far too strong for Bermuda and to win by an innings here as their bowling has improved a lot in recent years. Ireland are on top in their game, posting a competetive 350/7 declared, with Eoin Morgan hitting 151 and Australian born Jeremy Bray hitting 78. UAE are 77/4 at stumps and with much work to do to avoid a follow on and then an innings defeat. |

Bermuda are making a stirring comeback in their game, they are now 303/7 with 104 from Clay Smith. Not so good for UAE, bowled out for 189, Ireland are 306/1 in their second innings, some 467 runs ahead at the end of day 2. I imagine they'll declare sometime tomorrow (even overnight) and hope to bowl UAE out cheaply again. |

It will indeed be Kenya against Ireland in the final, although both semi-finals ended as draws with some big scores. Ireland 444/4 declared in their second innings. I presume first innings is used to separate the two teams when it's a draw. Edit: In fact, it's to do with points gained in the match, and it's quite complex apparently. Edited by -JP- |

As a Bermudian I must confess to being disappointed that we failed to advance but at the same time proud that Bermuda put up a respectable showing after all Kenya only ended up fifty runs ahead on first innings despite over 400 runs - Considering that Bermuda had played no international cricket for two months that was an excellent effort - The Namibians really ought to do something about their flat wickets though!

Much credit to Bermuda, I really didn't think they'd get as close as they did to what was a good total by Kenya. After all, Kenya have been playing a higher level of cricket than Bermuda for some time so Bermuda come out of the tournament with much credit.

Final today, Kenya have moved on to 124/2 at lunch off 33 overs against Ireland. I've located the points system, and yes it is confusing, and it explains why Kenya declared against Bermuda with HS Modi stranded on 98* - innings aren't allowed to go beyond 90 overs!! http://www.cricketworld.com/detail.asp?articleid=4592&me nu=0&sid=2&sn=International |

Ireland declared their innings on 313/4, behind Kenya but this was a bold move as they banked on getting early Kenyan wickets for more bonus points, which they then did. Kenya close the second day on 104/3, 200 odd runs ahead but not so much on bonus points.

Ireland produced a stunning performance to win the Intercontinental Cup, bowling the Kenyans out for just 156 and calmly steering themselves past the 254 needed for victory. What a brave declaration it was yesterday and it really worked for Ireland. Well played Ireland, but it's another setback for Kenya who were desperate to win this to prove their position as the 'best' nation not to play Test cricket. (My quotation marks as they are clearly better than Zimbabwe and possibly Bangladesh.)
