I don't see Windies going out Sledge - it will be either of England or BD. Windies run rate is far too good.

Stomach Bugs strike the English camp again!!! This time Straussy and Swann.. Can't get bigger than those two. Thankfully both expected to be fit for the Windies game, though you got to wonder what on earth are these english boys having. Guess the Panneer masala, chicken tikkas not going down well with their tummies .
Man what have I done I'm hungry

As I had said about the PAK team, same applies for ENG, they have a decent team with decent players but where is that X factor (esp after the departure of KP)? just how much would ENG have liked to see Freddie Flintoff play just this one tournament, a man who had that ability to turn the game on it's head, all by himself.
IF you look at other team,s RSA have Steyn and AB, India have Sehwag, WI have Gayle and Roach, SLN have Malinga, NZL have Brendon McCullum, AUS have Tait, Lee and Watson, and so on... PAK well may be Razzaq but then he has to get more exposure to make it count, currently his role in the team is more of a spectator which is very disappointing. |

England are missing the X factor Sam , but they're still a decent side. Tomorrow they need Strauss to lead from the front and Tremlett and Shazhad to knock over Gayle and company. Worryingly , it looks like SA will rest some of their top men for the Bangladesh match - probably Steyn and Morkel. So a win over West Indies might still leave them with nowhere to go but the airport international departure lounge.

It won't Sledge, ENG will almost certainly qualify for the QF's should they win tomorrow.
In case of BAN beating RSA the pressure will shift on WI and quite astonishingly India, should IND beat WI then ENG are through, no problems there, but should WI beat IND then IND and ENG are level on 7 points and it'll go down to the NRR, currently IND have a better NRR but should ENG beat WI and IND lose to WI then naturally ENG's NRR will go up and IND's will come down, and the difference at the moment is not that big, so ENG should still be comfortable . Anyways, ENG need not think about all that tomorrow, it's simple, go out there and win, once they do that, I'm absolutely certain that they will be in the QF's. |

How's Swann for X factor? Should England win tomorrow they most likely go through. Can't see Bangladesh beating any SA side. Having said that england are under the cosh over here. Will be interesting to see how they respond tomorrow? I still see them in the QF.

yup V4P, Swann will be ENG's main man tomorrow, we have seen how the track at chennai is and ENG will be wise to play Yardy ahead of either Collingwood or Bopara. they don't have KP to fill in for those spin overs now. It is absolutely vital to play 2 spinners on that wicket.
WI have the edge though, Benn is in terrific form and they'll have Miller and Gayle as the other options, also WI have players like Pollard and Gayle who can take a low scoring game away from you very quickly, ENG will have to ensure that they get Gayle and Pollard early if they want to have any chance of winning. |

True, Gayle and Pollard are two guys who can take the game away from any opposition. Very much like Sehwag and Y Pathan. Problem is they not going to win the tournament on the back of just these two. Benn and Roach have been impressive but still not been tested for me in this tournament. Tomorrow's game a test for them alright.

Benn will do well against England, he's found his feet on the international level now and doesn't stray much. Roach will have to be more on target though, Strauss is one player who doesn't miss out on putting away deliveries that are suppose to get runs taken off them.
Sam, if India and Eng do end on 7 points, England will definitely be home unless they defeat the windies savagely. Remember all of England and India game they loss went down to the wire. Even the games that England won went down close. India hammered Bangladesh and won with overs to spare against both Ireland and Netherland. After 5 games, one loss won't affect a net run rate so badly if the margin of loss isn't much.

True now its just time to sit back and watch as the drama unfolds.
And Sam, Spin is right its highly unlikely that England can better India's NRR should they end up on the same points. |

Yes Its finally here upon us!!!!
The group stages are over. The QF line-up is complete. The stage is set, the actors are ready. So let drama be imposed upon us. Hope that the quaters continues to be as majestic, lofty and grand as the tournament has been this far. Damn its only Monday, why couldn't Wednesday be after Sunday. ![]() Edited by vote4peace - 21 March 2011 at 7:37am |

i think indian's are the most favorite team for world cup 2011. becoz they have a very strong batting line up. sehwag , tendulkar, gambhir and dhoni they all are very mature and world class players.
and dhoni is a very good and aggressive player and captain. so i think india are the most favorite contestant for this world cup. |

You are right, they have strongest batting line up but the weakest bowling attack. On these batting wickets you need good bowling to win matches. Thats why they just managed to win against Bangladesh, Ireland, Holland and West Indies.

At this rate they could end up with an entirely different squad than the one that started the tournament . Edited by vote4peace - 25 March 2011 at 10:20am |

I think everyone had that feeling too! I had fancied 2 of the 3 sub continental team for the finals and Bangladesh wasn't one of them.

yes Amal, not to forget this is Pak's first big SF after 1999, they did very badly in last two editions. The atmosphere here in India is quite amazing, in my office, gym (although I'm not regular to gym anymore), neighborhood, buses, streets, everywhere I hear people talking about 30th March, people in office planning to get down with some illness on that day, my friends having big arguments over who is gonna win and how India is so much better ... and well just about everything related to that game is being discussed. My friend says "God will not allow Pakistan to win" which really made me laugh... another says "it will be a cakewalk for India" while some are pinning high hopes on sachin to win it once again for India. The moment I say "Pak will be tougher to beat than Aus", people look at me as if I have said something sinister. It's quite amazing really. I have to say, never in my life have I seen excitement about a game as much as this. not even when India were in the finals in 2003. Edited by sam_ahmed - 25 March 2011 at 5:35pm |

So... How about those kiwis aye? Awesome bowling and fielding effort. Ryder and Taylor batted well in tough conditions. As soon as Amla got out the way he did I just felt that this would be our day.
Go England now
