Assalaam-o-Alaikum!
well! I think you all will be familiar with the name of Pakistani Opener "Imran Nazir". I think he is the typical opener & he is very unlucky that he did not got more chances as Salman Butt, Muhammad Hafiz, Yasir Hameed, Taufeeq Umer & Imran Farhat got. I've seen him just 2 or 3 times in different but after long intervals. I like his batting & he is a very good opener. In my opinion he is better than Muhammad Hafeez, Taufeeq Umer & Yasir Hameed in ODI Squad. I think Pakistan Selectors should have to give him a chance but not for one match. Well! If someone ask me for Opener, I'll select Salman Butt and Imran Nazir & Imran Farhat as a BackupSmile
The weak think I've found about Imran Nazir is same like our all openers but inspite of all he is the bestStar
You will be aware that mostly openers are not typical openers except Salman Butt & Imran Farhat.
I'm unhappy with our selection commitee that they did a lot of testation but they did not gave him a series to perform. They spent a lot time on Middle Order batsmen/Big hitters to play as an Opener but the did not spent time to make a typical opener a perfect oneSleepy
Comments & criticism is welcome! but be sincere & speak truly bcoz its a big issue of Openers & I assure you that still don't have a best opening pair.
Thanks for spending your time while readingSmile
apna khayal rakhiya ga!

Wa ahelk as-salam.

I am not sure what you are getting at here P4F, is it a dig at the selectors or an advocation of Nazeer, or both?

Come on phool(flower), you dont need to use salam etc in these forums and continue your post only narrating what you want to say!
Imran Nazir though has been playing in domestic, infact last i saw him in faisalabad or sialkot team in 20/20 and he hardly produced any consistency in his batting. He has been given plenty chances to prove himself , but unfortunately he could'nt hold on to his position, and with his domestic records he wont get another chance I believe!
so far so good!

Sounds like a pretty damning reply by the Doc,,, I must agree with him as he has been a long time poster and seems to have a great knowledge about his national side!

Hmm, phool, or fool in Arabic is a popular bean (broad bean), and in English means dimwit

Yes Mini I follow the domestic cricket and Imran Nazir has hardly been in any sorts of runs since his discard. He is another Afridi may be with a little more temprament, but he has the same problem, he decides to hit a ball before its bowled and end result a lot of lofted shots. He had his go, and probably is too old to get a call back!
so far so good!

How old is he?

I mean Pakistan has been one of those countries which can produce a pacer with a drop of a hat, and every now and then it finds a good batsman and spinner..
Pak have tried many options, and maybe Nazir's time is up.

well! wiseguy, may I ask you that if he has no record in domestic cricket or if he is not a good player then why he got few chances & for your kind information he did not got plenty of chances. Those chances are the formalities and in that way they pressurise the batsman even by doing that you can also pressurise a batsman like Muhammad YousufDead

You gave continuous chances to Faisal Iqbal, Taufeeq Umer, Hassan Raza but...........
I don't think so that he is a Afridi or like Afridi, he is a typical opener.
What about Faisal Iqbal? Is he a ODI batsman? Big%20smile They mostly carry him....

you talked about consistancy, can you tell who is consistant??? Salman Butt? Taufeeq Umer? Muhammad Hafeez or any other?? Big%20smile as you gave him a lots of chances but what they did??
I appreciate your domestic knowledgeClapLOL
Anyways! I personaly feel that you have just a 0.1% knowledge of domestic cricket as well as the sensitive issue of Openers even don't want to face the realityDisapproveWink

They wasted many years but did not succeeded to produce or to bring a typical opener. They ask a typical test player to open the innings Big%20smile
very shamefulDisapprove
You have coaches for everything but nothing improved....
I think you should not have to post comments if you are not fully aware the facts.

Firstly wiseguy there is no harm in using aslamualaikum, as it just means peace be with you. Its a nice touch i guess. besides Imran nazir should be playing for pak, he has as much talent as afridi. His absence is largely due to his ignorance and arrogant attitude towards those who tried to help him better his technique, he refused to listen to the then coach miandad n the tour of Newzealand which was the last nail in his coffin. But i must admit he deserves a second chance as he is a rare talent.

Also pak have given other openers tooo many chances, yet they keep failing a hundred after 15 failures does not warrant a place in the side. Against top teams pak openers have done poorly we have not had an accomplished long standing openers since the great saeed anwar. The selectors and woolmer need to wake up im glad they have abandoned their suicidel attemps at making shoiab malik into an opener. I would suggest that imran nazir and imran farhat be given a chance together, though butt, hameed, hafeez and taufeeq all have the talent they lack the right attitude and most of all fail to produce the goods on a consistent basis.

I remember him from a few years ago. Thought he was a very classy batsman and he was the first fielder I saw that instead of diving head first to stop a ball he went feet first in the inner ring.  Smile

he is a good fielder and a aggressive batsman but needs to play the right shots and be more consistent
