oh i guess i spoke a bit too soon, sri lanka have already lost the series but they just won the 5 match and can still redeem themselves if they atleast win the last 2 so the series will 4-3 at the end.

amazing performance by sri lanka in the 5th ODI of the 7 match ODI series between india and sri lanka. india set 286 to win. everyone made some contribution from the sri lankan batting line up as sri lanka chased down their target but one man stood out... TM Dilshan, an outstanding 81 of only 67, earning him the man of the match award.

Tendulkar, Harbhajan and Pathan were all rested as the series is already won. Remember also that Dravid was unable to take the field (he was super-subbed in the end) and Sehwag was in charge.

*One for the statisticians and trivia buffs I reckon - he must be the first captain to be super-subbed!

Super-sub = 'fantastic' (my quotation marks) new rule introduced by the ICC whereby teams name 12 players instead of 11 and can make a permanent substitution at any time.

Game 6 in this Tolkeinesk saga and India won the toss yet again.
They chose to field and have decimated the Sri Lankan top order inside 27 overs - it looks too easy for the Indians already (see One Day cricket IS predictable!)

Sri Lanka 118-6 off 26.2 overs.

Dilshan has 29 and Vass yet to score.

After 40.3 overs , Sri Lanka are 182-9 and surely are dead and buried. Maybe India will reverse the order to give the crowd some entertainment....

Sri Lanka all out in 42.5 overs for a pathetic 196.

If India lose this one , then Hansie's bookmaking pal must be at the match !!

India chasing 197 are 18-0 after 3 overs. Gambhir keeps his place in the side and an opener's slot after his ton in the last match. Batting with him is Tendulkar and Sehwag has moved down to an unfamiliar role at #3.

The fans are going crazy , maybe because they'll all get to bed early tonight....

India 43-1 after 8 overs , Gambhir goes for one shot too many and is bowled by Fernando.

   Sehwag joins Tendulkar , who's on a sedatary 11 (25)

Seriously impressive bowling display from India to knock over Sri Lanka for 196 on this pitch. They are now 61/2 with Kaif and Sehwag at the crease. Run rate is way over what it needs to be.

91/3 now, Sehwag gone, the run rate down to 5.31 but at only just over 3 required India won't be panicking just yet.

Easy win for India, Yuvraj finishing with 79, Kaif with 38. 5-1 India.

Yep , nice effort by the new bowler Rudra Pratap Singh , swings it both ways. Sehwag captained well too whilst Dravid rested.

India go from strength to strength , but more problems ofr Sri Lanka and especially for the out of form Atapattu.

yea, attapatu is really lacking form and sri lanka are really disgracing themselves. india are now 5-1 in the 7 match ODI series.

amazing 79 from yuvraj.

even without india's 2 big guns, dravid and tendulker, india still managed to hold sri lanka to such a low score and defeat them.

that's a great question but it shouldn't be discussed here, it should be discussed in the thread about the forthcoming series between india and SA.

The test series may be almost a month away between these two sides but how's this for a wake up: Jayasuriya has been dropped; his dodgy shoulder and poor form have been cited as the main reasons.

Final one dayer, Jayasuriya left out of this one; Tharanga and Samaraweera fail at the top of the order as Sri Lanka are 43/2 off nearly 13 overs...

Sri Lanka ended up on 244/9, Arnold and Atapattu making half centuries. That is a total that will take some defending; the problems for Sri Lanka continue.

Dhoni makes another 50, just 48 runs needed now, merely a formality.
