Yes India have the home conditions advantage, but I think personally on paper SA has a better side, not by much though! I think this even things out! I think it will be a close competitive series!

well, look at SA there most experienced and best player is Kallis. india's best is tendulker. india really don't have an experienced fast bowler but their attack is still good with pathan and harbajan in really great form. SA have Ntini and Pollock but there is too much reliance on those 2. Most of the SA batters are young but some are quite good. india have tendulker who is extraordinary and rahul dravid who is also amazing. they also have young but good batters to support them.
so all in all, its going to be a great series and a very close one.

Although i am proudly south african in all honesty i think India will
win the series. Despite south africa now probably having their best one
day side since Hansie Cronje's in the late 90's, the mere fact that
India have home advantage makes them favourites.South Africa just do
not have a quality spinner and they traditionally have a poor record on
the sub continent. Their batsmen should do well but it is the bowlers
who might struggle. But nevertheless, it will be a closely contested
series, a lot more closer than the india - sri lanka series

Yea, it will be a close series. Both teams look so evenly matched that the only advantage I can think of for one team, india, is that they have the home advantage which just might put the series in their hands. But there is no doubt that the series is going to be a very close one.

South Africa to win the series! Overall they have a far better team, just look at the bowlers, Pollock, Nel, Ntini, and Langeveldt these bowlers could bowl out any side. Nel will be the key factor, because of his aggression I reckon some of the Indian batsman will find it hard to handle. Smith is definitly the better captain and will be able to get his team together to beat the Indians. Just look at how Vettori did against SA, SA didn't have a problem with him, still can't understand why he was picked for the World XI. But I expect the spin bowlers to find it hard against the SA batsmen.
Without Boje and Gibbs, South Africa will not have their strongest side out but I expect Smith to lead by example and take apart the Indian bowling attack. Smith to score the most runs in the series.

the SA bowlers might be very good but india have 2 of the best batters in international cricket today. tendulker and dravid. those 2 can take on any bowling attack. dhoni is also in great form with the bat so don't under estimate india's batting.

Vettori only didn't do that well in SA because the pitches in Sa are not designed for spin play and the batsmen have learned to cope with spin. There are spinners in SA with relatively good stats in domestic cricket so they are not totally inept at playin spin
But i reckon it will be the spinners that are gonna be the matchwinners of this series.

So the games begin... SA have chosen to field. Should be interesting to
see what the indian batsmen do.

My two favourite Batsmen:
Jacques Kallis is a very solid but destructive batsmen and not to mention he can bowl as well.
I also like Michael Clarke for his amazing batting talent at such a young age

India 163-7 after 40. Good comeback, but if Yuvraj singh goes they're in
trouble.

249 by india! Yuvraj 103. SA threw away what could have been an easy
target. At one stage they were 35-5! Sigh.

South Africa made a good start to their reply but they've just lost Smith (48) and Ontong. Ashwell Prince and Jacques Kallis are leading the recovery at 83/3 with the run rate just about under control. Good game this.

After a very good start for South Africa bowling India's top 4 four batsmen for very few runs, South Africa should win from 96-3 off 20 overs with the batting they still have to come. Good to see Smith smash 48 of 36 balls. If Kemp comes to the crease then it should get interesting to see if the India bowlers can handle him.

South Africa bring it home, Kallis and Kemp unbeaten at the end to win by 5 wickets. A fine effort and they go 1-0 up in the series.

I am a little bit worried about SA batting lineup, with Gibbs gone it seems a batsman short. Ontong was the supersub today, and he is in my opinion not on standard, what would have happend if we lost the toss, and was send in to bat, we could have lost a bowler. AB is out of form,Smith,Kemp and Kallis will not make runs every game

I'm surprised that india managed to make 249. they had at one time collapsed to 35 for 5 but some how yuvraj singh brought them back in the game. the game was quite close with SA left with only one over to spare. Great comeback by india in this match and Yuvraj Singh got what he deserved ... the man of the match award even though india lost. Good performance by Kallis.

Singh deserved man of the match, no doubt!!He was lucky though because he edged the ball nearly 6 times into gaps.
I still think SA won easily because the paced the innings so well!

I think that the South Africa team will be willing to allow AB devilliers more time to find his feet in the one day game because he is such a talented batsmen, he has shown it in his short test career so I would expect AB to come good in this series. South Africa to beat Australia's record.

I don't think so. today india's batting was out of form and there whole top and middle order collapsed and they nearly won. if the indian batting doesn't collapse they will set high targets and chase down targets quickly as well.

I was thinking to myself last night, whoever wins this one will probably
win the series. South Africa have started well, but India has a strong top-
order that won't fail everytime. It will be an exciting series. Yuvraj played
what should have beeen a match-winning century. Kallis continues to
show why although he's not a fast run-scorer, he's so reliable.

yea, yuvraj played an outstanding inning under pressure to bring india back into the game and he did earn himself the man of the match award. and Kallis once again proved to be the anchor of the SA batting line up.
