I think there's been a bit of a misunderstanding with the weather/scheduling.

Obviously Sri Lanka touring India is known in advance, but it is up to the Indians to decide the venues, and they should have known that Chennai at this time is usually soaking wet (and there are precedents, three matches in this same period have been affected by the weather) and played the game somewhere else.

But then is the Indians, and we know how good they are at organisation, don't we?

I think you're being sarcastic JP...

If you're saying they're not good at organizing, I certainly agree with you, but if you actually mean they are good at organizing, then I disagree with you.

As you mentioned, the Indian Board, or whoever schedules the matches should have known what kind of conditions there are in certain places in India at this time of the year.

Yuvraj has been in good form so he should play. Ganguly shouldn't even be in the complete squad.

Ganguly is number 9 in MVP. That's unbelievable...but still have you seen his form lately. he hasn't been performing at all! I don't even think he deserves to be in the top 10 MVP list.

We will see. Play is likely to start some times soon...finally. Ganguly will need to perform or he might be axed for ever.

Ganguly is in and Kaif and Singh discarded - I bet that pleased Greg Chappell!

Dravid won the toss and elected to bat first . That's purely academic as there's only 38 overs left today and a possible 105 tomorrow. Still , some practice for the players before heading off for the 2nd test.

Sehwag goes for 36. India are at 45 for 2. Dravid on 4* and Tendulkar on 0*.

well, he's gone, but to vaas. murali keeping it tight too and sangakarra standing up to vaas!! ball apparently keeping low far too much. what price a result other than a draw for this game!

Well, India went for 167. Ganguly made an awesome come back with an outstanding 5.

Sri Lanka were cruising at 168 for 4 when they decided to call it a day and the match has been drawn...what a boorriiinng match.

I wouldn't read too much into that 5 Saad, the pitch was a shocker and besides, the Indians decided before the game was up that they would keep the same game for the next game.

A draw yes , but it'll be the Sri Lankans who'll move on to the 2nd test by far the happiest. Chaminda Vaas again showed what a class act he is by taking the top 4 batsmen and he had good support from the other bowlers.

I wonder what kind of effect Saurav Ganguly's inclusion has had on the Indian dressing room? Kaif and Singh are playing fantastic cricket , yet are on the sidelines to allow the old man back , that must affect morale.

We'll know soon enough , watch the Indian body language and Ganguly's in particular. Let's hope he doesn't undermine Rahul Dravid , who's shown himself to be a shrewd captain.

I read on cricinfo that if India can beat Sri Lanka in this test series, they will move up to 2nd place in the ICC test rankings.

The first test was a classisc although they only played for about a days play.  Ganguly in as an allrounder.  Thats a joke, the indian administrators must be dreaming.  I saw an over where Ganguly got hit for 3 straight boundries by mahela jayawardena, same pitch where tendulkar only scored 22 in like 122 balls.  Ganguly is a slow bowler, not sure how he became an allrounder overnight.

I'd think india would do better without him, team is divided with him around.  For Dravid to have all of the players attention and for Greg to stamp his authority, give yuvraj a chance.

Yea, the Indian Team would certainly be better off without Ganguly in the team. Why did they call him up again in the first place? Stupid choice.

I don't think the players are very positive with Ganguly around.
