Yea, the Indian Team would certainly be better off without Ganguly in the team. Why did they call him up again in the first place? Stupid choice.

I don't think the players are very positive with Ganguly around.

He might come in quite handy with Sehwag definitely out ill and possibly Dravid with the fever for the Second Test....

Ganguly has been in the worst form of his life lately so I don't expect him to come in handy.

Well, we'll see, but who would you prefer to push up the order to open with Gambhir? Ganguly, Yuvraj or Kaif? Which of those has experience of opening the batting at international level?

Second Test, India are 245/3, Dravid ended up opening the batting and Tendulkar (99) and Ganguly (37) are the men at the crease.

Huge moment here: Tendulkar makes it to his century, his 35th, breaking Gavaskar's record and the players are immediately offered the light which they take.

Ganguly closes on 38 not out - he'll be looking to build on that tomorrow to prove everyone wrong.

Amazing stuff from Tendulkar. He has broken the record for most test centuries, which was held by Gavaskar for 22 long years.

Ganguly will certainly be looking to build on his 38* to prove everyone wrong.

India completely collapsed. From 253 for 3, they went to 290 all out. Sachin made 109 and Sourav made 40. Muralitharan really did the damage, taking 7 for 100.

SL also had a collapse. They were doing fine at 173 for 3, but Kumble took 3 quick wickets to bring them to 198 for 6 by the end of the day. Attapatu made 88 and Jayawardene made 60. SL trail by 92 runs with only 4 wickets remaining. India will likely manage a first inning lead.

India should manage a lead but it will not be much. This looks like an extremely entertaining match I am sure its going to go down the wire. The experienced spin bowlers have a big role to play for their sides

Yea, the spinners from both sides are dominating. Kumble and Murali have really changed the whole match.

Very funny. It is a good match. Very competitive, even after India completely collapsed, Kumble fought back and might even get them a first inning lead.

India 290 and 17-1 , Sri Lanka dismissed for just 230.

The spinners Murali and Kumble took 13 of those wickets to fall and proof yet again that India prepare dustbowls and call them pitches!

If India REALLY want to travel the world and start winning away from home they need to prepare decent wickets at home. We've heard empty talk about this very thing , yet nothing changes .

It's disappointing and the ICC need to step in and FORCE the issue. County sides are deducted points for substandard pitches , something needs to be done at the highest level as well.

India 179-4 in their 2nd dig. Pathan missed out on a 1st test ton , falling to Fernando for 93. He opened the innings with Gambhir , who went early for 3.

Laxman (11) and Tendulkar (16) the other wickets to fall. At the crease is Dravid looking untroubled on 46 and Ganguly on 1.

End of Day 3:

India are at 237 for 5. Dravid got run out at 53. At the crease right now, Ganguly on 22* and Yuvraj on 28*.

India lead by 297, so already Sri Lanka are going to have to chase a record target (I guess record as in record in India or on that ground, but anyway, it'll be a stiff test.)

Ganguly bowled by Murali for 39 and Dhoni joins Yuvraj Singh who has gone to his 50.

India 290-6 and a lead of 351 - looking bad for the Lankans....

At lunch on day 4 India are 320-6 , a lead of 380.

Yuvraj 56* and Dhoni a quick 21 off 27.

I think they'll bat on for another hour and then put Sri Lanka in.

Some hope for the Lankans , Murali has taken only one wicket in this innings , suggesting the pitch is getting slower and lower. Maybe they'll be able to keep Kumble and company at bay.......

The declaration came a tad earlier because Dhoni went a bit crazy!! 51 at exactly a run a ball in partnership with Yuvraj Singh (77*) saw India to 375-6 , a lead of 435.

We'll not see Sri Lanka go for that mammoth total , but it'll be interesting to see how they try to survive.

They're 5-0 after 2 overs.

Dravid will be delighted when the shine is off this ball !! Sri Lanka have gone to 30-0 after only 6 overs , that 30 contains 6 boundaries too.

If India want to be taken seriously as a test side they're going to have to find an opening partner for Pathan!

Isn't Agarkar THE worst opening bowler on the planet just now - and I include the Bangladeshi and Zimbabwean attacks in that statement!

Khan lost form , but it shows how thin seamers are in India - Agarkar bowls like my mother-in-law !!

Wicket!!!! Pathan has Gunawardene trapped in front and Sangakarra joins Atapattu .

Kumar smashes two 4's in the 1st three balls to send a message that he won't be stonewalling!!

40-1 after 8.4 overs....

As expected 12 overs of seam and now it's Kumble and Harbajhan into the attack.

Sri Lanka 58-1 in the 15th over .

The captain has 28 , Sangakarra 19.

Oh! My mother-in-law went wicketless as usual !!

Steady progress if you're a Sri Lankan and pretty frustrating if you're Indian!

97-1 and Atapattu goes past 50 , that must be a relief for him. Sangakarra has 31 and Kumble and Singh have bowled uncvhanged now for 20 overs.

Well all changed in a matter of last five overs ,,, 3 wkts gone

SL are 123/5

Sri Lanka require another 313 runs with 5 wickets remaining-Anything could happen coz still Dilshan and Mubarak are there ... and its tail that frustrates every team  .

Ha ha ,, ya he seems to be the worst bowler ... but donno what got to him ,, the world fastest wicket taker ,,is no good anymore .

Think he lost his way ...

But the problem with India is ,, we do not have a WC bowler like Polly,Glenn etc etc ...

So Indian think tank is using Agarkar ,, coz any other Guy also gets hammered in ODI's these days unless u r Glenn/polly or murali.

At least Agarkar can be very handy with the bat in ODI.

Keeping all those in mind ,, he has got place in Tests.

Else he dosent deserve a place in Tests ,, that too on Indian pitches.

313 required with only 5 wickets remaining sounds way too hard. India are going to win.

India just 3 wickets away from winning at lunch on day 5 .

Sri Lanka 203-7    Vaas on 1 Jayawardene on 43.

Nothing much to come and Kumble and Singh in action - it shouldn't take too long. If the spinners don't do it , a new ball is due now anyway , but Pathan will have to do it without my mother-in-law methinks!!

All over and India win by 188 runs , Sri Lanka bowled out for 247.

Kumble took 4 and Harbajhan 3 to finish the Lankans off.
