And we've got our first derby of the IPL Mumbai vs Pune, the Maharastra Derby I guess.
Meanwhile guess who decide to make a show at the IPL. Liz Hurley courtesy one Mr 'Botox' Warnie I would imagine.

RCB, DD and RR to pull up their socks before it is too late. All other 7 teams are still very much in the race. Must say Kings XI Punjab and Kochi exceeded expectations .

When one watches Bollinger (CSK) bowl to Ryder (PW) he could be forgiven for easily misconceiving that an Aus vs NZ match was going on.

Though my home team got massacred, I'm really upbeat about Ishant's performance. Yes the wicket was a bowlers paradise with steep bounce and significant lateral movement, But I'm hoping for Ishant's case this could be that morale boosting innings he was in the need of, this hopefully is the beginning of the turnaround... blah blah blah

He is, and playing very slowly too! The ACU should monitor him closely.

Umm... No Zuhair, I don't think so. He (Samuels) is in "Once bitten twice shy" mode , and ICC-ACU wouldn't waste time on him this time. They would rather fish at right places and save themselves from embracement like last time when NOTW could find something that ICC-ACU could'nt.

Commendation to Bangalore for their Green initiative campaigne. The RCB team decide to shed their normal reds jersey and replace them with green ones for last night's match as their support to the Green Initiative awareness. Way to Go!!! Got me to think it wouldn't be a bad idea for our forum members to start such awareness initiative threads!!!

Sorry, Chris Gayle's blitz in the IPL this year has been phenomenal. I've always said he's the strongest hitter of the cricket ball. Saw that ton and some of the sixes he hit were effortless and they went flat like a bullet over mid wicket! The guy is even smashing balls above waist height back down the ground for some huge ones! Kieron Pollard could at least learn to do it like Gayle. Pace, spin, outside off, or leg side, they get whacked.

Gayle has been at his brutal best and did got 37 runs off 1 over in his most recent match!
Munaf Patel, BTW, has also been in superb bowling form. Takes a 5 for today.

Yes, Zuhair.Compared to last three editions , this season was slightly damp (at least to me). There could be few reasons for it
1. The gap between ICC World cup and IPL-4 was too short for fans to digest overdose of cricket.
2. On top of it, India won the WC .Indian fans were too happy at the ultimate achievement in cricket while supporting regional team immediately after such an national emotional overflow felt irrelevant at this juncture.
3. Team reshuffle could also be one of the reason as fans were left confused with last three editions players-region connectivity.
4. Maybe there is something about Modi and his ways, he had his ways to somehow keep IPL in utmost highlight during his tenure.Even at the fag end of IPL-3 when he was under scanner for all wrong reasons, he still ensured that IPL publicity did not get effected.

These all are good enough reasons - but I also think the quality of cricket may have also gone down. I can't really comment much as I have not seen much of the games. But 2 more teams surely would not have added to the quality.

Reshuffling of the teams is a big thing. Supporters become loyal to a team, buy the jerseys and follow all their games because of the marquee players they love. Absolutely ridiculous how they shuffled the players around like that. How can Gilchrist captain one team for 3 seasons then swap teams and captain them? Stupidity. IPL messed up on that point.

The trend has been pretty much the same as well, bat first get runs on the board and the other team will struggle chasing, else if the wicket is slow, restrict them to around 120-140 and chase it down easily. There have been very few games that have actually gone down to the wire, and considering that this is T20 format, it is quite a surprise.

True, even I've found this year's IPL to be a tad boring. Could be down to WC hangover or resuffling of players and teams. But the standard and quality of criket as Zuhair rightly pointed out has taken a hit. But on the other hand welcoming for more lesser-talented domestic players.

I insist to know what Gayle is on. The man is in the form of his life. Bengaluru has one seven matches on the trot since his divine arrival. Can't help but notice a visible change in attitude and body lang. Maybe its the burden of pressure that affects him when donning the national colors. I don't know, doesn't matter I'm enjoying his stint with the RCB, though I know he should be at the Providence right now
