When you win the toss - bat.
If you are in doubt, think about it - then bat. If you have very big doubts, consult a colleague - then bat. |

Hey Whitheand, i played indoor for about 6 years. Fire away with questions you might have. I have also won 4 division 1 titles so this is something i know a little bit about.

I was just asking because, since I'm in Australia, my only cricket I play during this time is Indoor, for the purposes of the "How's your Season Going" threads, and others.

My team's doing rather patchy. 4 games played thus far, 2 won, and 2 lost. My batting's been rather average aswell(thus is the nature of indoor cricket I suppose, the first two rounds I would get out by panicking about getting caught, and at the last minute trying to defend, bowled :D). It's 18, but only due to a lackluster innings of 3*.(Yes, we play with slightly different rules to the 'official' ones.
Bowling, I'm as fine as anything, with 8 wickets at a rather respectable average of 5. Edited by Whitheand - 07 May 2007 at 9:14am |

I have a question. Besides the fact that the game is played indoors, are there any rule changes? Also is there a pitch, if so are there different types of pitches?

Rule changes in regards to? There is a pitch and i have ever only played on the one type which is basically a hard synthetic pitch which does not favour spin.

Okay, how many ways can you get out in indoor cricket or is it the same as outdoor cricket?
Also are there still sixes and fours? |

You can get out as many times as you want :p, but are incurred a penalty of -5 runs each time.
LBWs are rare in Indoor Cricket, you can only be given out inline with the stumps if you are not offering shot, so playing and missing onto your pads is not out in any situation unless it's found that you weren't offering a shot. You can also be given out as a non-striker through a Mankad, where the bowler goes through with his bowling action, but does not release it, instead bringing it around to hit the stumps at the non-strikers end. if you are out of your ground, you are given out Mankad. |

You can also be dismissed being caught off the net.

Yep, there is 6's and 4's. Back net on the full = 6, along the carpet =4. You can actually run even though the ball has hit the boundary. ie, ball hits back net on the full, the batsmen cross, they get 7 runs. Also, you and your batting partner bat for four overs only. There are 16 overs all up. -5 if you get dismissed, highest team total wins.

When you catch the ball of the net does it have to be with one hand? Also does anyone know how big the boundary/net is around the court? Indoor cricket sounds rather interesting! |

Nope, doesnt have to be one handed. Standard court size is 30m x 10m and its a fantastic sport mate.
