This is just a place to put in statistics that are hard to believe so we can discuss them. I was looking at Kumar Sangakkara's averages and he averages 50 in test matches but only 41 in first calss macthes which is a remarkable difference.
Keep posting guys. |

but this should create some interesting discussion and since the stats section is so desolate I thought the mods wouldn't mind if it was kept here.

Jimmy Adams - after 12 matches, only Bradman had a better record than his 1132 runs at 87. (cricinfo.com) |

It's not uncommon, warnes domestic averages arn't very flash, Brad Hoggs are very ordinary.

I dont have the numbers but I am sure Dravid's first 15 ODIs' average must be shocking.

Brad Hoggs a one day spinner though and his 40+ first class bowling average is understandable as he is not good at the longer version of the game. Warnes domestic bowling average is more or less exactly the same as his test average so that isn't very special either. |

Sachin today got out in the 90s for the 12th time in his carrer. Quite phenomenal considering that he also has 41 tons to his name!

Both Trescothick's and Pietersen's international stats are fairly ordinary compared to their first-class stats, I also think Paul Collingwood averages around 45 at Test level compared to 36 at first class level. |

How many times has Sachin Tendulkar been out on 99 in (a) ODI's and (b) Test matches? I would venture he has the most number in cricket history.
Of further interest would be how many times he has been out in the 90's? He may be a "record" holder in that department too. This is not meant to demean Sachin in any way. The fact that he has played in so many more matches than most other players in history, his odds of these dubious records are much higher. |

I believe the record of number of 90s is still on the name of Steve Waugh. Not so sure though.

It is but I believe Slter has scored more 90s than 100+s and is 2nd on the list, Afridi's test strike rate is better Punters ODI strike rate, Paynter average 59.22 in test 41 in FC, Merchant averaged 71 in FC and only 47 in tests. THere was a player, I can't think of his name but he averaged 66 in FC but only played 1 test. Edited by garrywarne - 23 November 2007 at 5:37am |

At the least he has to be a allrounder. Seriously if he has scored five centuries then he definitely can't be a bowler alone. Think about it. I am pretty sure it's Afridi though if he talking about ODI's becuase I have never seen him score huge. |

Well Pollock would have scored something like that and he's more of a bowler, than all-rounder. |

Pollock is not an all-rounder. What have you seen mate. He has 16 fifties and 2 centuries in tests cricket with an average of 32 which is more than useful considering SA has pitches assisting bowlers. He is much better than Afridi in my opinion in batting skills only. If you think Pollock had five centuries and you are still not considering his as an allrounder then there is seriously something wrong with you.
