Tendulkar seems to love Cricket too much, doesn't seem like he'll quit until his form (eyesight, instincts, reflex etc) starts to fail him.

Tendulkar's enthusiasm for the game seems never ending and long may it continue. I agree that the next world cup must be in his thoughts and if his form and fitness ( a huge factor) remain good , he'll be there.
Retirement will probably follow after he's reached 100 hundreds in both forms of the game ! |

Tendulkar's been amazing so far and he just continues to dominate. I think if he carries on like this till the 2011 World Cup then I am sure India are going to lift the cup next year provided our bowling attack is good enough barring Zaheer and Harbhajan.
I also think Rahul Dravid's been in fine nick too. Ray Jennings supposedly said in a local newspaper that Rahul would become a complete and a perfect t20 player by the end of IPL 3 because he can play according to the situation. He looks fit, is scoring runs, hitting sixes and taking the sharp singles as well. His last two innings have been fantastic to watch and its a pity that he's still regarded as a one-dimensional player. His ODI career appears to be over but you never know when the selectors change their minds. |

Rahul Dravid is all class for me but I couldn't blame the selectors for leaving him out of the ODI unit because his form had dipped for 2 years and it had those youngs guns dominating.

India's batting is fine in ODIs. It wasn't enough to beat Australia at home against an inexperienced attack. That might be a worry. It's not a matter of talent, the batting talent is there... they just need that edge - and less reliance on Sachin to continually score 150+ scores!

Its not the dropping spin, its the manner in which they dropped him. They said initially that he was being rested and then Vengsarkar called him a "one-dimensional player" and then he was brought back for the Champions Trophy and after top scoring in a crucial game against Pakistan he was dropped again! As Harsha Bhogle then said, you cannot treat Rahul Dravid like a dish you have wrongly and having tasted a spoonful, send it back!
Milky, I think the reliance on Sachin has reduced to a certain extent with Gambhir, Sehwag and Yuvraj and toa certain extent Raina coming into their own now! I just want to see more of Murali Vijay in ODI cricket and less of Rohit Sharma! That will do! |

Given India's batting strength I don't think if Rahul will be in plans for the WC 2011, more so because it is in the subcontinent and most of the youngsters are very good playing at home. I think Dravid will continue to play test cricket till 2012 though... both Dravid and Sachin might want to retire after a big series... there is a scheduled series against PAK in 2012 and also against AUS I think in the same year... both in India... so they might look to retire after that...

Man, Dhoni unleashed a monster of a six last night which just has to be the biggest I've seen. It was humungous!!
Andrew Symonds is back in form as well, struck Mishra effortlessly for a massive one, right up to the top!

so there have been blasts near the stadium in bangalore just minutes before the start of play and not even a single player has raised any concern nor has anyone threatened to quit the tournament. In fact the match went on as normal in just one hours time... quite amazingly it was only the next day when I read it on the internet that I came to even know about this!!!!!!!!! Although I'm very happy that no serious concerns have been raised (because that would have threatened the chances of next years WC in the sub continent), but this is a clear example of he double standards that players have set over the years... the players feel so secured about their life when they are getting paid so heavily while the same thing in Pakistan (even before the lahore attack) would have resulted in absolute chaos and everyone would have been discussing the future of cricket in pakistan!!!

Sam , do you have 1st hand knowledge that the players feel secure ? The incident that you laughed off injured 8 people and has to ask questions about the security being laid on. That Bangalore has lost the semifinal should give some idea as to how serious the authorities took that incident. The bombs have been described as "primitive" - be thankful that they were or we could have seen a bloodbath.

I never meant to laugh off the incident sledge, in fact I agree that it was a very serious incident, but the fact remains that none of the players have gone back home which means that they still feel safe. I'm just comparing the scenario of two similar incidences in different countries, the reaction of the players is different at both times.

Sam, I reckon threats of terrorism and the risk are more higher in Pakistan than in India, i'm not too sure but maybe that's one reason why there isn't much concern about it in India than Pakistan. I wish people in the world would stop this non-sense but as we all know, it's not ever going to stop!

All that said, everyone should have stayed clean and away from corruption , but this seldom happens in modern world.
Modi's greatness in making IPL a success can never be denied, but he erred here and he needs to pay for this. For me as long as he is not involved in fixing the matches and altering results, I really don't care too much about all other mess(though it is wrong).
To me the IPL brings bussiness, work, joy, recognigition and that's what really matters.

actually I do agree with that. Modi has done a terrific job and is highly responsible in making IPL a success, but corruption is bad no matter what. I care less because I am not a fan of IPL itself but for fans it'll be sad if Modi goes.
coming to IPL, I must admit that I enjoyed IPL 1 and IPL 2 at least to some extent but IPL 3 has been very boring. I was not even following the results in between, it was only during the last few games that I started following just to see who makes it to the semis. |

Im very Happy i hate that guy he did a terrific job just to make money people like him deserve this im VERY VERY VERYYYYYYYYYY Happy. Same with me Sam i enjoyed IPL 1 very much and even when IPL 2 begin i was very excited but now its very boring plus too many matches and in every 1 min we see mobile ads it gets very irritating plus its not a good thing for Indian cricket now most of their players are not 100% fit which will hurt their chance of winning the T20 world cup.

I agree that it drags on far too long. Typically though , where there's money there's people trying to exploit that. So next year there are two additional teams - it'll seem never ending!
That decision could well be the straw that breaks the camel's back. |

It will all be forgotten soon mates - IPL will still be there with or without Modi. the way this league has grown to the value of several billion dollars in just a short time is evidence enough that there are enough things going wrong. The growth patter is simply not organic, which raises concerns and which means a faster death of the product.

disaster has hit IPL and Lalit Modi... apparently some of the matches in IPL 2 were fixed and Modi himself was involved in betting which was done by someone else on his behalf. There is more news coming in about a lot of fraud that has been done...
