He is still fit. He is dragging it to the WC.
The thing about these great players like Inzi is that if they are at one end then other batsman has a lot of confidence. So as long as he there, Pakistan plays well. I wonder whats going to happen to Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Australia after the WC. Many top players retiring. |

Greatest obese batsman is Inzamam. For the best player title he has heck of a competition with Arjuna Ranatunga |

Wiseguy basically just laid the smackdown on the idea of Inzy needing to retire. For me, a ridiculous thought.

Inzi is worth gold for pakistan, and with his match winning ability, each team in the world rates him the most prized wicket of the pakistan team. He is as important to pakistan's chances of winning the world cup as is tendolkar to india, Jayasuria to srilanka, ponting to ausies, smith to SA, Lara to windies, (fleming+astle+marshal) to Newzealand, whole bangladesh 11 to bangladesh. |

I believe thats what he plans , to retire after the world cup, probably from both forms of cricket and I believe that would be the right time for him to Bid farewell to the great game!

I doubt if a slimmer Inzi proves better, becos pakistan suffered for his ultrafitness in the 2003 world cup! we want him effective, even if he puts on another few kilos!

What Clapo was referring to, and indeed why I took up the cudgel in this instance was that people are getting sick of those who automatically cry racism at anything they don't like being said, when race has nothing to do with it at all. |

Very funny 2 day silence. now lets finish the topic.
i think if inzy gets too big to field properly, he shouldnt ahve his aplce in the team, even though he can bat. I mean, there has to be a limit somewhere. I reckon start him bowling a bit in the nets. |

look people this is a dead subject, he is one of the best batsmen in the world and in the odis he was showing everyone how to field with lots of athletic stops at short cover. sure , he can't bowl but not everyone can. Edited by lintonskippa |

If i had 3 wishes i would do 3 thing... exile mahmood and harmison, make geraint jones the best keeper in the universe and me the best leg spinner. what a lethal combination!

I don't believe that Inzamam is too unfit to play cricket. No matter how fat or overweight he may be (and I personally believe that a lot of it is muscle and not fat), he is one of the best batsmen the world has ever seen and he is an immensely talented cricketer. He is 36 years of age now and has been around for a very long time so naturally he will be beginning to tire now so running may well not be his strong point, however in the recent series V England he hit some excellent boundaries and some huge sixes at a strike rate of 111.5, which is quite some strike rate, so I feel he is perfectly capable of playing cricket at the highest level and he certainly has another couple of years top level cricket in him just yet I believe.

Who cares? You could weigh 700 stone and be pushed in a wheelchair if you average 50 a game.

Fit or not fit he has to be in the team to keep them together, even when he retires i think he should be kept with the pakistani team as a Coach or Trainer........, he has given the Unity and Character to the Pakistani team which they lacked. Imran kahn & wasim akram were great Captains but they were never able to give this to thier teams...

Not really HawkEye! Inzi is a great player but don't exaggerate the things by rating his leadership skills above Imran's. And also please don't flatter about his appointment as a coach / trainer after retirement, because it doesn't seem sensible to me at least. No one is and should be indispensible for any team. Inzi has definately achieved phenomenal success with pakistani team and no doubt he has brought back the team spirit lacking in pakistani teams of yesteryears! He should be flown to India with the team just to keep him away from the rest and excessive eating at home, as you may see a even fatter Inzi by the next series! infact he should be sent to an army commando training center for time being! |
