Topic: JP's First-Class Sim Posted: 24 February 2009 at 6:04pm |

You can only select who opens the bowling and who doesn't bowl - the sim isn't that complex that I can set it to bowl certain players at any time.

Mystery, suppose you have to bowl 200 overs?

Ok Freuchie Press Release by Robbie Wright
" The team to play Blackpool is as follows
1. Simon Katich
2. Marcus Trescothick
3.Ramnaresh Sarwan(c)
4.Kumar Sangakarra(keeper)
5.Owais Shah
6.Michael Clarke(b)
7.Jacques Kallis(b)
8.Yasir Arafat(b)
9.Mark Davies(b)
10.Zaheer Khan(b)
11. Umar Gul(b)
After a discussion with Ramnaresh we have decided not too include Graeme Swann as the pitch seems like it will suit fast bowlers and batsman so instead we have went with Umar Gul and if needed Michael Clarke will be able to bowl a little spin. Our opening bowlers will be Zaheer Khan and Umar Gul. If Sarwan wins the toss he will elect to bat first."
JP if i want Michael Clarke to bowl this game will it be possible for him not to bowl again if i don't want him too

In that case Ntini and Bond to open, with the other bowlers being Panesar, Sidebottom and Ten doeschate.
Oh and I'll use "6" aggresion.

I got a chance to have an interview with the West Yorkshire Wildcats captain Matthew Hoggard to get his views on the squad and the upcoming first match against the Perth Giants.
Now you've had a couple of days training together, do you feel that your squad is up to the challenge of this season?
MH: Most definitely. We've got some fantastic batsmen and our bowling unit is starting to get to know each other's games better so we can hunt as a pack.
The batsmen have been working hard in the nets and getting to know there team mates to learn how each player likes to play, minimising our chance of run outs.
You've probably read the comment from Mike Hussey saying that "the main danger is Saqlain Mushtaq, if we do well against him then we will win easily." What are you views on such a comment?
MH: It actually made me laugh when I read it to be honest. Of course Saqlain's a fantastic bowler and he'll be a threat to them, but he must be underestimating the ability of our bowling attack.
Lonwabo, David, James and myself will be looking to make him realise his mistake when we're on the pitch.
You spoke about the batsmen earlier. How are they looking and how do you think they'll perform in the conditions?
MH: The batsmen are looking very sharp and ready to go. I think they'll relish the chance to bat here, as you'll get full value for shots here. We bat deep as well so we have every chance of posting a big total. When our number 8 has 5 First Class centuries to his name it shows the strength of our batting.
Have you thought about what you're going to do if you win the toss tomorrow?
MH: I've thought about it and I'm pretty sure I know what I want to do, but I'm keeping my cards close to my chest for now so you'll have to wait and see.
He's certainly confident about his sides chances and he's got a plan, but he's not taking anything for granted and so we leave him and the squad to prepare for their match.

Yeah I'll go for default for all my batsmen, but I'll have Mendis at 8, Shrama and Morkel at 7, with Martin and Bravo at 4. Also I'll bat if I win the toss

For Martin, yes - with his record, you might as well bat him agressively and hope for the best.

I'd be surprise if JP does this today, or this weekend. His team is playing Test Cricket plus the two of the very best are battling it out as well. Can't same I blame him either.

I'm aiming to get the first round done tonight - I've got five of the ten squads ready to go, but spin wiz is right, it might have to wait until tomorrow. I'll do my best!

I think I am going to have to push the first round of fixtures back to the weekend - an early start tomorrow for the New Zealand-India game means I won't quite have time tonight to get the other teams ready in the sim, play the games, and sort out some web pages to display the results so I'll have a go on Friday/Saturday night when I will have some more time.
Sorry about that, but I'm sure you can build the anticipation up some more with some entertaining press releases ;)

It has today been reported on Sport Radio that NZF and Melbourne owner Bladescape have agreed to push back the start day of the first game due to the likely weather interuptions if they continued as planned. Any tickets already purchased will still be redeemable.

Melbourne owner Bladescape had this to say about the weather interuption that made the first match for his team have to be postphoned:
"The blasted weather interrupted training this morning and is likely to wash out the first match if we continue on scedule at Canterbury.
So I had a talk to their owner,NZFast and We've agreed that this is the least wanted result for both sides,I'd even take a loss to Canterbury over a loss to the weather!
You know what we should do?
We should ban the weather from buying a ticket!
Anyhow,on to other matters,Yashpal and Badrinath are eager to bat in the first match(When the weather is finally averted) because of recent speculation by NZFast and Perth owner Mystery that Canterbury had a better middle order and Nannes,Bracken,Siddle,Rashid and Murali are raring to go in the anticipation of a green pitch which offers little for the batsman.
I'm hoping Hughes can get over his recent duck in the first test in SA as I'm relying on him and Smith to get me off to a good start.
Then again with the experienced campainer of Greame Smith facing the new ball at the other end he shouldn't have much trouble with nerves.
I'm a bit dissappointed with my lower order with Taibu at 7 but I'm confident that he can rack up a few good scores.
I've got a good announcement to make at this stage:
With the research going into this team I've put Thornley into the allrounder status after seeing him bowl extremely well in the nets, and to add another one to that area we now have McDonald joining the team in Canterbury and he is a very welcome addition to the team.
I feel that we're probably the underdogs in this competition because we're using a lot of domestic players instead of international stars.
However I think we have one of the most talented teams in the competition."

After the surprise postponement of their upcoming match against the Hyderabad Heroes, a reporter finally caught up with their reclusive manager nicknamed "slogger"
Reporter: So slogger what do you think about the sudden postponement? Slogger: No comment here I'm afraid, I'll leave that to the home manager if thats okay Reporter: Of course, so what do you think about the pitch? Slogger: Well it looks like a good wicket that may break up later on for the spinners, should be difficult later on in the game. Reporter: Are you worries about their spinners? Slogger: Well Shakib and Harbhajan are class bowlers, there's no doubt about that, but I picked this batting lineup because it has played all over the world in all different conditions. Strauss, Collingwood and Butcher have both been on numerous England tours, Khan has played for Pakistan in a whole range of conditions, and Ramprakash is an amazing player with masses of experience so I don't really expect them to struggle even against such high quality bowlers. Reporter: How about the bowling, do you think 4 seamers was a wise choice? Slogger: Again I picked a bowling attack that could bowl in a whole variety of conditions, from green tops to spinning wickets, so out here I'm hoping that Mendis will prove why he was the tournaments most expensive buy and get me some wickets. The seamers may not have so much fun out here, but I don't regret picking 4 to be honest, they should still get wickets especially if the pitch does deteriorate and we get balls going through the top surface. Reporter: One final question, how do you rate your chances? Slogger: well they have an excellent batting lineup and some good bowling options, but I still fully expect my lads to win in some style. Reporter: Thankyou

I was all set to go and play the games when I discovered that I'd made a bit of a cock-up, basically misreading the sim. No harm done, but all it means that the fixtures are now changed, so the first round's fixtures are now as follows (home team first) Canterbury v Hyderabad Kolkata v Caribbean Perth v Freuchie Surrey v Blackpool West Yorkshire v Melbourne And we can ignore my points system, as the sim will automatically use its own: 15 points for a win plus bonus points for runs/wickets in the first innings 10 points for a tie 5 points for a draw 0 points for a loss Batting Points Runs scored Bowling Points 0 < 150 5 1 150 - 225 4 2 226 - 300 3 3 301 - 375 2 4 376 - 450 1 5 > 450 0 Apologies for this latest delay, hopefully if everyone can get teams/pitches to me over the weekend, we can get going again.
