Please mind your language...
Indeed Iam good Batsman but I never say a good bowler. I do WK occasionally when needed and I found good behind the wickets. I share my tips to help others these might be helpful...

If the guy we're training comes any closer to the bowler he'll have no time to react. Its hard to give him bounce and yet still give him relaistic reaction time.

Do you prefer catching hands up or hands down.

That depends on the trajectory, if the balls dropping steeply I go hands down, if its a bit flatter I go hands up

I prefer hands down. simply because if i go hands up it may go over my head and i will probably dive backwards which would injure my back. But for a diving catch hands up

I prefer to keep with hands facing down, I tend to kick out with my body to "give" with the ball even when it has bounced quite high. Personally I just find this much easier to do.

In over 20 years of keeping the hardest thing is taking balls down the leg side when your up to the stumps! You need to practice and practice this skill, what I do is jump behind the stumps in a net session and just take ball after ball just like a match enviroment the odd ball will drift down the leg for you to take, I find this the most benificial way of practice!! In a match I.

1. During bowlers approach stay low and concentrate on release out of the hand follow ball closely it's amazing how quick you can judge a ball is going down leg out of the hand.

2. Keep in crouched position until ball pitches and then come up to take the ball at it's finishing height.

3. Also when coming up from crouch position, pivot your left foot towards mid wicket area, sliding your right foot with it to really get your body behind the ball to have back up if you don't glove the ball cleanly.

The key is really watching and feeling where the ball is. Good Luck!

to take a ball going down leg side when you're standing up to the stumps shove your left leg (for a ball going down leg for a right hander, do the opposite for a lefty) where you think the line is and do the same for your gloves. Once you can see the ball then move the gloves to it. The pad's good for that extra line of defence though.

another tip not listed here is to take the ball on your left side if it is a righty batting and vice versa
