1, 2, 3 is a yes for me. Vettori is the greatest player the kiwi have at the moment who isn't injured.

Fleming can do better but A 6 or 7 is good enough rating or me. He likes to go across the line too much at times.

yeah, his average stays decent because he will get like 0s and 1s for a few
matches, then he will go and get a 150 or something like that! I would rather have someone consistent on my team. apart from his batting, what do you think of his tactical captaincy? |

As for his captaincy, its great but under the new coach, it has been a bit fallen back, I can't remember the coach name... oh yeah, Bracewell. Bracewell likes to be an authorian leader I heard.

can't blame the coach really, it's not like he's been inspirational for Notts either this year, now is it?

he has been captain for about 8 games and I think he won half of them, when NZ beat the world record for chasing down runs in a odi vettori was batting and captain! that was against aussie too!

He's been in good form in county cricket, thats got to count for something. Its just he's really aggresive, he's never really out of form, just plays stupid shots. Someone else i thought of as should be in the team is matthew sinclair, perhaps for marshall just to keep him aware he isn't garenteed a place in the team. Dont want Jamie How in, not quite ready for international cricket. |

I haven't seen a good Vincent innings for a while now. 3-4 years ago I though he was the second best player after Astle and was my favourite New Zealand player.

I like Vincent, and agree with NZ Fast about how he just plays stupid shots. I'm skeptical about Marshall after his appalling season last year, but apparently he did have a good County Cricket season. I'm hoping we get to see a Vettori/Patel tandem in the ICC Championship. I'd also like to see Ross Taylor get a bit of a shot this year. |

Who is Patel? Is he a seamer or spinner? Is he good?
He sounds like born Indian and settled New Zealander. |

An off-spinner from India who plays for New Zealand,Ross Taylor is an exciting young all-rounder who really looks like a kiwi more into Rugby then Cricket. |

I think that Chris Martin is poor and should be nowhere near the NZ team coz he never seems to bowl well when I watch him.

Jeetan Patel. Here is what Cricinfo say about him... Jeetan Patel made his debut for Wellington in 2000, taking 5 for 145, and his first season for them was a triumph. After making his debut for New Zealand against Zimbabwe in 2005, he bowled superbly in his first outing on home soil when he took 2 for 23 to stifle Sri Lanka in January 2006, earning him the Man-of-the-Match award. A bowler with a similar loop and drift, reminiscent of Daniel Vettori at the same age, his ability to bowl at the death has already won New Zealand a one-day match. He was rewarded in April with his debut Test against South Africa, and was subsequently named in New Zealand's final squad of 14 for October's Champions Trophy |

I think that his only porblem is his flighting of the ball. If he is able to bowl flatter it would be better as batsman (excluding me) tend to find it harder to face flatter deliveries than face deliveries with a lot of flight.
