Brian Lara has said he's working on his fitness to make the IPL next year. I think this a great idea. To those who believe the IPL is for youngsters, the top run getters of almost all the teams are above 30 or in their late-20s so don't see why Lara can't be successful. And having a few more veterans will make it fun. Those guys use technique and style rather than random heaves and swipes and still go at a healthy strike rate.

P.S. Hopefully the number of matches for the next IPL will be reduced.

Just why is the great man coming back - is it to bolster a dying tournament ?  No matter how he performs (and I don't see him setting the world alight) I see attendances dropping , both at the grounds and on TV. I for one won't watch it , I've had a bellyful of this tripe !

Lara has waited a bit too late, that should have been done after he was retired.  His form then woulda served him better compare to now.  It's no surprise that Lara still wanted to play when he retired, I think there were one or two times when he was to play for T&T in the 4 day competition.

I don't think he will be playing - he will probably fit into the coaching role like Fleming and Lehmann as he suggested.

I agree with Sledge. No matter how great a player you are there is a certain time for evrything and I believe Brian Lara is well past it!

I'll have to agree with you.
A fully fit, in form Lara would be great, but he isn't as fit, and I don't think he is in the form, or practice, to really put on a show.
You know, I'm trying to decide whether to change my siggy or not...

Wow that is great, I know this post will raise eyebrows as many hate IPL to core (but I simply love it), and I love to see him play again even if he does not perform or set the stage on fire.

If he does, then my joy would know no bounds.Nothing like seeing Lara on song.
Race to No 1 again ... started!

I know Lara's playing capabilities quite well.  Lara, at this stage, would be a shadow of his former self.  When Lara fails, he tend to fails miserably, when he sparks, he sparks better than anyone.  That spark though takes sometime and he's been out of it for very long.

I'm a big Lara fan but honestly, he just needs to call it quits.....dont drag it on and end up looking bad in the end.
