Quite simple, post the last film you saw, and give it a brief review and score it.  Great place to peak in if you want to see something, maybe find it here.

Come back and update as many times as you like, the more the better Wink

To get us started..

The last film i saw was Stand By Me.  That was about a week or so ago, quite long for me, and for those who haven't seen it i would suggest doing so. :)

It's one of my favourite films of all time, and the job those group of actors did as children was remarkable, it's such a beautiful story.  A quick brief of the film would be it's the life and adventure of a group of friends, quite young, which i'm sure at some point we have all enjoyed.  Wil Wheaton emerged from that film, who is currently one of my favourite actors/authors, his work is brilliant!

I'd score it 9/10

Now you..

Can I just add a quick request that we get NO SPOILERS in this thread please!
The last one I saw was Shutter Island....sadly I fell asleep before the end and missed what by all accounts was a pretty dramatic conclusion, so can only give it 4/10.

The last one I made it all the way through was Memento, a film I had waited a long time to see. It's about a guy with a memory loss condition, who resorts to tattooing messages onto his body to help him retain information that will assisting him in tracking down his wife's murderer. Guy Pearce is excellent (hard to believe he was ever in Neighbours), and it is written and directed imaginatively by Christopher Nolan, with a very thought provoking ending.

9/10.

That's a very good point!
Let's make sure there are no spoilers, and if there are, make sure it's clear they're coming

We went to see The King's Speech and thoroughly enjoyed it.  As good as Colin Farrell was , I thought Geoffrey Rush's portrayal as the Australian speech therapist brilliant.  Then again , I've been a big fan of his since I saw Shine - another masterpiece.   Helen Bonham Carter's Queen Elizabeth was nicely understated and on the whole the film captured 1930's Britain very well - well worth watching and gets 8 out of 10 from me.

I'm mid way through watching an Indian film called Anjaana Anjaani, haven't finished it yet but so far not too bad. Based in the US, most of the high budget Indian films which are filmed aborad tend to be interesting, so I'm liking it!

Anjaana Anjaani huh... Best of luck with that one Mikey. No its a fine movie.

My extra office hours of late hasn't allowed me the leisure of watching a lot of movies. The last one I watched was Megamind. Yes that animated movie(I can almost hear a chuckle. Was a fun movie (the right antitode for a hectic lifestyle) and I enjoyed it thoroughly (there I said it). Like the idea of the villan being the protagonist in the movie.
 I'll give it an 8/10.

Clobber, I downloaded Memento a month ago, haven't watched it all the way yet.  Seems a bit too one manish of a movie to me why I didn't finish it.  Guy Pearce though is a solid actor.  I guess there was too much waiting for me and not seeing too much action. LOL

One of the last movies I watched was "Body of Lies" - a CIA movie starring Leonardo Di Caprio and Russell Crowe.  The acting is brilliant.  It's all about Di Caprio (Agent Ferris) being based in Iraq to track down a terrorist.  After intel found out he may be based in Jordan, Ferris goes over there and then links up with the Jordanian Intelligence king Hani Salam (guy acted superbly).  The film gives a good background of how things are in the middle east and how the CIA can operate at times.  Also, Ferris, while receiving treatment for an injury at a clinic finds a good liking towards a wonderfully look Arabian woman (can't blame him, her personality in the movie was superb), which spices up things a bit more.

Nonetheless, I watch these films more so for the action than anything else.  Superb recommendation for me if you love some thrilling action movies!

Memento's a good watch. Though I wouldn't be as generous as Clobber in its rating. The concept was new and stunning. Still din't like the way it ended or began. Wacko

Nearly anything with Leo di Caprio tends to be superb. Fine actor, Blood Diamond is a favourite.

Yea.  He was superb in Titanic and now talking about him, "Departed" is an awesome movie by him as well, although there is an Asian version, the original of it acted 4 years earlier.  I've seen both and they are brilliant.  Magnificent movie about cops and gangs and 'mole' inside both organization for both parties.  It is a must watch if you love FBI/Cops/Detective movies.  Great suspense and action etc.

Well, tonight I watched the somewhat infamous The Human Centipede.

It has obviously an interesting (and gruesome) concept, but to be honest, there isn't much of a story around the concept, and though I didn't hate it, for a film that it meant to be so shocking, I found it all a bit "meh", hence 5/10.

I think that rating is good enough for me not to watch it.

What about Cricket films guys, how many have you guys watched?  I heard about Fire of Babylon lately, will try and watch it sometime but are there other cricket movies like for instance "Bend it like Beckham" for football?

I can't think of any films, just that unintentionally funny TV series Bodyline from the 1980's.

The last Di Caprio film I saw was inception, sorry but I’d give it 6/10. pretty boring in my opinion.

The last film I saw was last night ‘Centurion’ this weeks sky prem, Very good and extremely blood thirsty, 8/10

The tooth fairy staring ‘The Rock’ was also on but I gave that one a wide birth.

Warwickshire County Cricket, Edgbaston Birmingham England. County Champions 2012

Anyone here like Steven Seagal films?  Some people love him, some can't stand him, which one do you guys belong to?

I love Steven Seagal movies. You can add Schwarznegger, Van Damme and Stalone to that list too. My kind of movie. The kind of action flicks I used to watch with my old man as a kid, so they're somewhat sentimental to me.

I've had a bit of fascination with world/foreign movies. I heard 'Caotic Ana' is a good flick from Spain and I got my hands on a copy, I shall review when I finish watching it. Anyone else know any really decent foreign films (when I say foreign I mean non-Hollywood type movies).

Check Jackie Chan and Chow Yun Fat.  THe latter has some intense action movies but they are in cantonese I think.  I love Jackie Chan movies too, one of the very best actors.  Nice man too!  And I love Seagal movies as well mickey.  Me and my bro use to have loads of fun downloading and watching all his movies.

A little sneak peak trailer for cricket film 'Fire in Babylon'

'They brought the world to its knees,
and a nation to its feet.

Fire In Babylon is the breathtaking story of how the West Indies triumphed over its colonial masters through the achievements of one of the most gifted teams in sporting history.

In a turbulent era of apartheid in South Africa; race riots in England and civil unrest in the Caribbean, the West Indian cricketers, led by the enigmatic Viv Richards, struck a defiant blow at the forces of white prejudice worldwide. Their undisputed skill, combined with a fearless spirit, allowed them to dominate the game at the highest level, replaying it on their own terrifying terms.

This is their story, told in their own words.'

I saw X2 for the first time the other night..

I'm a huge comic book fan, have been since i can remember, but i don't love the films - some i can't stand.
This film had it's moments, like the others, but it does so much to destroy what the comics built that i can't enjoy it.
I thought some of the character casting was superb - i especially liked Nightcrawler in this one.

All in all i'm yet to fall in love with a comic book movie.  I would say Iron Man films come the closest - and Thor and Captain America look to impress!

6.5/10

Nightcrawler was around in the early X-Men, he's one of my favourite's along with Archangel!  I'm quite big on X-Men Embarrassed

I quite like Superman and Batman, but prefer Marvel Superheroes as a rule!

I watched Hot Tub Time machine last night.

It's about a group of old friends who over the years drift apart, until one of them seemingly attempts suicide. To cheer him up they return to the scene of their greatest teenage weekend, whereupon a strange quirk in the hot tub casts them right back into that 1986 weekend. So, do they act out the exact same circumstances to protect the future, or look to choose different paths?

There's obviously going to be a Back To The Future comparison with any film involving time travel, and Hot Time Time Machine neatly acknowledges that by having Crispin Glover, who played Marty's dad in the first BTTF, in a small role. This certainly is nowhere near as good as BTTF, and definitely not one for all the family, being quite crude in parts. I enjoyed it all the same: John Cusack is in it, which automatically makes it good, and there are a good few laugh out loud moments. It's somewhere between 6 & 7 out of 10 I reckon.

I've seen a similar film, where friends drift apart - and come together and end up doing something they always wanted to as kids.  It's a Star Wars themed film called 'Fanboys' if anyone wanted to see it - it's actually really entertaining.

I love the spider man movies - good action as far as i'm concerned.  And there was a batman movie out not too long ago - that was brilliant but can't remember the exact name.  Oh, the Dark Knight, brilliant stuff!

Anyone watched "The Hangover"?  4 guys go on a trip to vegas where one of their friends go missing.  Funny stuff.

Yes!  Dark Knight was amazing, i saw it in the cinema a couple of times Cool

I don't mind the first Spiderman movie, but they slowly decline for me, into the third one being a mess.  There are some good fight scenes but again - having such a love for the comics, there is a lot butchered in the movies.

Although Marvel/DC are on a streak now.. Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Dark knight.. and Thor, Captain America, X-Men: First Class all look fantastic - especially excited for X-Men: First Class!

I've not seen Hangover, but heard a lot of good things about it.  The second one is coming out soon isn't it?
