Forgive me for not knowing, I don't really know about the incident. I have seen the video clip. I dont't understand how it was allowed? to bowl underarm and have the ball roll to the batsman? Why didn't the Umpires step in?

It's outlawed now Abu , but it was legitimate back then. It might have been allowed but the stink in created was huge, even the NZ government condemned it ! To his credit Greg Chappell later said it was a horrendous mistake and something he deeply regretted.
It was only some mickey mouse competition , it really wasn't a game of any significance - Chappell just panicked. |
