Following his recent form, do you think it is time for panesar to become England's first choice spinner ahead of the king of Spain?

In advance of you-know-who getting in here all excited I would say for now I would rather have Giles in the team - mostly because of the balance Gilo brings to the side with decent bowling, capable batting and solid fielding.

Monty can keep developing and in time should be a match winner in his own right.

Giles doesn't spin the ball while Monty can.

 12 @ 57 iirc.

He contributed as much with the bat as the ball.

For number 8 Loudon is better than Giles.

giles is undoubtedly englands best spinner! this wannabe going by the name of panesar will be out when ashley returns! panesar took two wickets from bad shots, hanging the bat out! and leezy u shouldnt be allowed to start this thread cos of the bit under ure name! thats terrible! there is already a topic on this! so sledger or jp, do the decent thing and shut this stupid thread down please!
Ashley Giles took three good wickets, outbowling Shane Warne who matched him in the scorebook, but not on the field

Of course Giles. Giles would be the key when the Ashes start.  Great player, he can bat, he can bowl and he can field. Pansnear doesn't have enough experience. Yes, and Giles is England's best spinner, and Im sure he'll pick up loads of wickets during the SCG match, and the Adelaide Oval match. Those 2 pitches would certainly favour his style of bowling.

Loudon is the best, but since this is between Panesar and Giles probably Giles but when it comes to the ahses I wanna see Panesar play at the SCG he should trouble the aussie batsman with his spin. But Ashley Giles overral is the better with bat and ball.

Check out my blog http://crictopia.blogspot.com/ pretty bad though...

Monty definetly. Giles will not improve whereas Panesar has massive potential. England keep banging on that their major weakness is the lack of a world class spinner which is of course true but with Monty there is the possibilty that within 5 years if given a run in the team he could win matches for England by bowling out teams in the 4th innings - something Giles cannot do.

that is quite possibly true as AK bends the truth somewhat about what he claims he knows about cricket as we have all seen before on numerous threads on the forum.
