I would like everyones opinion on this queston, Where do you think the forums going? The reason why I ask, Is because about every week, Day, Hour, Minute ect, The forum just seems to be getting quieter and quieter. There seems to be so many past users that rarly, Or never post anymore, Why do you think that is?
The forum always seems to be getting qiueter and qiueter? Edited by Colly92 - 12 October 2008 at 1:17pm |

what we need is a hot blooded argument starter like on the Cameron White thread or on countless oages on the best XI thread...
...or even for Clobber and Sledger to become arch enemies, now that would be entertaining! |

Its very odd not many people are posting, but there are a lot of members who posted frequently who don't even come on any more, it's not surprising we've lost a few members, but virtually all the regular posters have gone.

it could also be because most of the cricket series these days are very one sided and predictable. there is nothing much to talk about really. (still i keep posting something or the other ...

Now, folks, when I initially joined this forum, I had ample time on hand to discuss and debate with such great guys as Sledger and JP. Eventually though, high school came along and I've just been chasing time since then. I'm going to University next year. That will be about 4-6 years. Life is just moving quick. Evidently, however, this forum seems to be lagging behind. The last time I logged on was at least five months ago. Yet, there haven't been many new threads since then. I'm not suggesting quantity is everything. Rather, we need to maintain a balance of quality and quantity. I'm well past those days of debating "Who's Better? X or Y?"
I've always been an avid follower of this forum and hope that I can contribute to it in the near future. I just read the archived awards thread from way back in 2005-2006. It reminded me of all the long hours I spent on here. All the same, the obvious truth is that besides a select few, there is not a large enough group of members that are dedicated to making this a lively and enjoyable virtual environment. Of course, this is cause for many members to leave the forum. There is clearly a lack of interaction and discussion/debate. I can honestly say that the lack of activity on the forum was one of my [secondary] reasons for my withdrawal from the forum. So, what are we to do? Well, lets be very realistic. I can appreciate that -JP- and Sledger are dedicated to making cricket the sole and central focus of this discussion forum. However, a lot of online communities thrive on entertaining media content. If we are to increase the level of activity on this forum, it requires that we offer media content to our members. Now, I realize that such a course of action would defeat the very purpose of the forum. But I cannot help but feel that this is the only option left. We can provide cricket documentaries, match highlights (present and past),biographical documentaries, coaching videos, and all such material to our members. At the same time, it is imperative that we uphold what is most dearest to us - namely, the uniqueness of this forum as a place for discussion on cricket matters. We do not want to - for the sake of immense popularity and recognition - become one of the hundreds of ordinary 'cricket' forums on the net that sustain their popularity by providing various forms of entertainment to their members. So, the actions that we take should essentially reflect our values. I know that -JP- and Sledger are dedicated to making this a lively, enjoyable, and cricket-focused forum. If that is what our objective is, then by all means, we should continue as it is. Now, besides suggesting a complete overhaul, I'd like to suggest that we please change the visual template of the forum. Gray is not a very stimulating and inviting color - This is science. I'm sure everyone's aware of it. As for how I much I can contribute to this forum, I will try to do my best in the next 5-7 months. This semester should not be very heavy so I'll have time to get on here often and put in a few posts here and there. Edited by saadadvanced7 - 01 February 2009 at 11:23am |

I find no problem with the colour or I guess i'm just one who gets on with life however it is.
Anyhow, the traffic rate has indeed drop massively since I joined the forum back in 06. Youngsters are the ones who'll keep this forum alive as they have more time on their hands, as was evident even by me back then as I was still a school boy hardly doing much.
Anyhow, I like the way this forum is run. It's not out of hand like lots of others you can run across. Oh yeah, we need more controversies in world Cricket, that drives more people to forums.

Cricketowlrd forum used to be good but now it's just a boring ghost town. I reckon there's an average of about 4 posts per day. It's really gone down the pan. Why don't you advertise JP?

This forum is quite frankly dead. Zuhair and I are pretty much the only ones posting of late. When I view a lot of the older threads I see a lot of members with high posts have been banned. Maybe too much control in the forum? I'm not sure, I haven't been 'threatened with a ban' as such so I can't really say.

People don't get banned on a whim, and the fact is that those people have driven away far more good users through their actions, and it's those that the forum misses, not the banned ones.

Few members who used to cintribute a lot and don't come visit now are dhoniisbest and wiseguy. I really miss those two. The forum has certainly lost some valuable members but that will not stop me from posting. I still love this forum and enjoy it.

I mean in the past few days . Even when I look at the older posts, JP, Sledger and Clobber used to post more. There are still other regulars I've noticed, like Dips, mystery and blade.... but I know in some forums there are always 3 or 4 guys always debating. It's just so quiet at the moment, when I used to watch the forum before (maybe a year back) it had way more activity. |

And they all forgot me.
Anyhow, I was away for the past few days watching first class Cricket and I must say, I had no regrets. Stupid players called strike on Friday, I was vex. I went and watch Windies vs England on tv, even stand outside a store and looked through the window and watch the game for two hours and I wasn't the only one.
Anyhow, first class game started Saturday, I watched Windies batting innings Sunday then head over to the first class game and watched yesterday as well and they're finishing up today.

Come on mates. its not about being important. It is our duty to keep things alive. Previously, the forum used to be this dead when they was little or no cricket being played. But currently enough cricket is being played but sadly it is just a select band of posters posting. Somebody rightly pointed that we need more controversies to keep the forum alive.
Maybe just to draw more people in , JP and company need to start some sort of a competition or whatever like poster of the week, thread of the week etc.

You only suggested that because you like predictions!
In reality,I think we need a few more things like fantasy teams, maybe poster of the month or something like that. Or we could have cricket sim or story for the month? |
