Even giving Foster another chance has to be better than alternating between these two. Nixon wasn't really worth bothering with though, at 36 what does that solve?

I think Flintoff should open, even if it only works 10% of the time they should still do it. They need to score more runs as shown today when they only scored 244 on a 320 pitch.

A couple of years ago I was all for Flintoff opening, but his technique has definitely got worse, and he looks seriously stiff legged when batting, so I'd say for now he is better at 5 or 6

maybe, I just think that the England management need to do some serious experimentation, change the order around, give young bowlers a go. I like the look of Tom Smith, Stuart Law was saying he looks an excellent prospect and is a line and length bowler so maybe they should give him a shot when he hits some form and I think Stuart Broad also deserves his time. Very economical and can take wickets with his penetrating accuracy.
If Flintoff shouldnt open then I will change him with Loye and drop Collingwood and replace him with Freddy. |

Despite his success at T20 last season I still don't think Broad is a limited overs bowler really

I reckon at the moment he can be collared fairly easily and as a wicket taking bowler first and foremost does bowl a fair few loose deliveries

That reminds me of Shaun Tait's step up to international cricket in 2005.

The reason I put Flintoff at opener was to take advantage of the powerplays. If we stick with boring players at the top we can't take advantage of them. I think England need to be thinking out the box and that doesnt mean making Strauss and Vaughan opening with Bell at 3. I dont think Bell should be playing and Vaughan is only in the side for his captaincy.

Strauss and Vaughn can score very fast when they get going, Strauss had some good run a ball fifties against Pakistan and we all know how good Vaughn can be, FLintoff on the other hand just seems to be getting worse, I don't think he could handle the pressure of opening at the moment

My point is that Flintoff surely cant get any worse and usually hits shots quickly unlike Strauss and Vaughan who take about 15 overs to get going and they are often out by then. |

They don't take 15 overs to get going, Strauss especially can be quite quick off the mark, the more worrying thing about Strauss is that he seems incredibly focused on test cricket and not enough on ODI

They do mate. What about against NZ. Slowed everything down when they could have got the game over nice and quickly instead of wasting time blocking and prodding

I am guessing the dead one will not be coming back but Adam would not be that old. Why did he retire?

He was 33 when he retired and I think it was partly down to having had enough of the game, the loss of his brother, and business interests.
