Hi, i'm 13 and am looking for a new bat.

I want it in a Harrow size, quite light and my budget is £70. I am quite a defensive batsman and I play the cover drive a lot.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Cheers!

Puma Stealth 4000 Junior

Puma X-Bow 4000 Junior

Both within your price range and excellent bats.

My advice is to go to a sports shop that sells cricket bats and try out the bats. See which bat feels the best when you pick it up. You don't really want a really heavy bat at 13, but one that feels nice when you pick it up.

Ask for advice in the shop as well for information about that bats. Another bit of advice have a look around on websites see the choice of bats there are available to you.

Only option is to go to a shop and try them out - I found a good piece of advice from somewhere on the net re pick ups: pick up the bat with only your top hand on the bat and try and play a shot - if it's difficult then the bat is not for you. Keep trying them that way until you find a bat that feels right.

Hope this helps.

for harrow, get a gm purist 808. their light so not going to ruin your game, they're classic shaped to develope a strong all round technique, and the ones ive seen have pretty nice willow and ping.

or you could get the purist original there good value for a harrow bat. however i had a GM hero original harrow bat a few years ago and that was awful! it cracked 2 weeks after i purchased it and it was basically a purist with a bow. the worst bat ive ever had!

What about the Kookaburra Genesis Cyclone? If you are defensive and like to play the cover drive you would want a light bat so this is perfect for you then. It is one of the lightest bats out now. Actually are there any lighter bats?

there are many lighter bats than the kooka. a smaller company such as laver & wood could make you a bat weighing 2lb 4oz, thats a fact.
