South African left arm spinning all rounder, Nicky Boje has decided to retire from international cricket, effective immediatey.
Sad news for Boje fans, but I think it was the right time for him to leave and leave with grace after being selected for the squad vs. India..

First Martyn, now Boje. Giles next?

Pretty sure we got our story up before Cricinfo on this one:

Oh yeh.
For England's sake we hope Giles is next.

Boje is a batsman who can bowl spin, like Michael Clarke, Graeme Smith, Sachin Tendulkar, etc.

I never rated him, nor found he was dangerous. His batting was not really that great either.

But it is significant news as did play a lot of international cricket, despite being club class at best.

Didn't Graeme Thorpe call on Giles to retire if it meant the only way for Panesar to get into the side!

Yes I laughed my head off at that! I think Boje was scarred after the Sangakkara Jayawardena nightmare earlier this year.

Paul Adams is the most unorthodox player in the world. LOL

To be honest apart from boje himself no one really cares whether he retires or not, there isn't any reaction from the safricans or media any where, he was one of the worst spinners ive ever seen, he made Giles look great.

Ps: The amount of games he managed to play with his club level talent just goes to show how desperate Safrica are in the spin department, i feel they should have kept going with P Adams, he turned the ball and was a character with more expereince he would have had over 200 test wickets by now. What a waste of talent.

Well as bad as Nicky Boje surely he deserves abit more credit he did take that 5/20 in a ODI against Australia in Johannasberg not to mention 2 ODI hundreds. He was never really test material but more of a ODI specialist.

Now South Africa can turn to a new spinner in either Paul Harris,Paul Adams,Robin Peterson or Thandi Tsbhalala.

Seconded, thirded and fourthed. Only in the SA team so long due to the bible-basher cabal that runs selection. Or did up to a short while ago. Couple his uselessness to the match fixing scandal of which he was a part and he is a monumental disgrace.
