Well deserving of the title last year. I was worried a far inferior Hants would pip you to the post but glad you held out. Again I think you will challenge this year.

Sidebottom has started the season so darn well against MCC and if he can play equally as good in the CC alongside the very impressive Ealham you will have a vicous attack again.

Its key Hussey, Fleming, Gallian and Bicknall are in good form again and Read of course.

Im coming down in June 11th for the Durham CGT match by the way.

Don't worry about Durham being a threat to your title. Hamirson. Collingwood and Plunkett will hardly play and with a very limp bowling attack if Gibson and Lewsi get injured, an unporven and costly spin attack and a worry over runs I am looking at about 5th or best.

I think Notts, Lancs and Warwickshire will be up there

I think you will walk the match starting tomorrow. Without Gillespie and Kruis the Yorkshire attack is limp to say the least.

Apparen'tly you are putting out the same team as the MCC game.

The fact Notts have kept almost the exact same sqaud as last year should work in their favour.  David Hussey has been awesome for two years, and with Stephen Fleming once again leading the side, i cant see them slipping up.  Even at the grand old age of 85, Mark Ealham is still doing the business as an all-rounder, and I think Ryan Sidebottom is underrated too.

This a bit of a player profile section for Notts this year any questions or comments please tell me.

Stephen Fleming Will skipper the side again this year after leading us to the title last year he batted on an average of 60 last year with four hundreds he will be looking too better that and lead by example this year.

Darren Bicknell- Brother of Surreys Martin Bicknell. He bats left handed at the top of the order in the longer form and probably will not play this year in the OD game. But may well be very valuable with an average of 50 last year especially with Fleming being on international duty at the start of the campaign.

Gareth Clough- Very much a fringe all rounder what you might call abits and pieces player with not much of an average but can tie down batsmen with his acurate right medium bowling and be inventive with his lower order batting. Expect him to be involved in just OD games.

Mark Ealham- Formally of Kent the big all rounder will bat at 6 or 7 and bowl second change this season very important in both forms of the game especially with his big hitting. He lead the Sky Sports Sixes league for 2004. With Chris Read up to the stumps that combination could well be vital for Notts this year. Lead the bowling average last year with 20 andabatting avg of 30

MArk Footit- Very promising left arm quick bowler not played much for the first team but was selected by the MCC to play against us and did very well opening the bowling.

Paul Franks - Always very promising as an all rounder but has struggled with injuries only playing 5 games last year with an avg of 65 but struggled with the ball only averaging 50. If fit will score lots of runs and take lots of wickets.

Jason Gallian - Aussie born opening vice captain who will be very important filling in for fleming and being a rock at the top of the innings again averaging 50 last year.

AJ Harris- Right arm mudium fast will take wickets at an average of about 26 and bat at 10 or 11 very useful 1st change bowler

David Hussey- A very good Aussie who has scored alot of runs for us last year topping the batting averages with 68. Like his brother Mike he is very quick and good in the field. Huss will be a pivotal figure if we are to challenge agian this year.

Chris Read - Arguably the best Keeper in England having represented England at both test and ODI level only hs batting has let him down this is not the case for Notts his batting has been very good already having two hundreds already this season. He can also hit some very big sixes for a little guy.

Ryan Sidebottom- He took 50 first-class wickets to become the Player of the Year last year although getting on a bit now he played like a young gun last year winning many games for us once again will be vital this year to any success.

Greg Smith - Sidebotoms opening partner for much of last year very good left arm bowler with a career average of 27 will most probably open the bowling again this year.

Will Smith - Look out for this guy this year he is my one to keep an eye on as he has been promised a chance in the first team he will bat at 5 or 6 and has already got a hundred. Although he is only 23 good head on his shoulders.

Graeme Swann - Right arm off break bowler and could open the batting in the OD games as this was tried last year but only had limited success. He is very atticking with both bat and ball and also very entertaining

Russel Warren - Very good utility batsmen he can open or bat anywhere down do 6 or 7 and be very effective.

other players, Charlie Shreck, David Alleyne, Paul Mcmahon, Sumit Patel, Anurag Singh

Great start Notts keep it up!!!

Bit of aggro in the game today.

Crincinfo only has a brief report up as yet -

Mushtaq Ahmed and Chris Read have been involved in a confrontation off the field at Hove during the current Championship clash between Sussex and Nottinghamshire.

Read was trapped lbw by Mushtaq, one of his four wickets during the morning session, and became involved in an argument. The pair had to be separated by fellow players including David Hussey who came down from the pavilion.

Elsewhere I picked up this account -

Started with Mushy over that went:-

Ball 1 - 4 over long off
Ball 2 - 4 over square leg
Ball 3 - huge lbw appeal - turned down
Ball 4 - huge lbw appeal - turned down
Ball 5 - huge lbw appeal - given by umpire Burgess
Ball 6 - huge appeal against Read for catch close in - mass celebrations and high fives - appeal turned down

Followed by 2 minute conversation between Mushy and umpire Burgess ending with Mushy proferring his hand to the ump.

Next Mushy over (or was it 2 overs later) Read given out lbw after another huge appeal - has word with umpire Burgess as he trudges off - gets to the top of the dressing room steps and hurls his equipment, stomps off to changing rooms. When Mushy finishes his over and assumes his fielding position in front of the dressing room he is harangued by Read and a 'discussion' developments. Skipper sees what is happening and runs off. Meanwhile Read is being led away up the steps by Bicknell (I think). Skipper goes up the steps where Read is now having a 'conversation' with a spectator down below. Things quickly subside after that.

Meanwhile another wicket for Mushy again lbw given by Burgess!
