Right !  After Gibson's splendid effort over the weekend it reminded me of the last South African bowler to take all ten - anyone know who he is?

LOL

I have no idea why his name even popped into my head - is it someone who played around the same time? (Before I go throwing another random name into the mix!)

The person I remember is Stephen Jefferies for Western Province in a Currie Cup match in the 80's

Here's a few:

Why was Tremlett denied a hat trick in 2005 against Bangladesh?

There were a few cricketers on board the Titanic when it sunk. Can anyone name some?

John Thayer- an American I believe.

Oh and how could I forget Tremlett's delivery landing on the stumps but not dislodging the bails!

I was at that game - on the end Ashraful played such a glorious innings that him not being dismissed on the hattrick ball was the best thing that could have happened

Only for you youngsters Clobs!   Jeffries was part of a formidable attack alongside Garth le Roux.  Both played in the rebel tours of the 80's and Jeffries was a fine left arm quick who could bat at 8 too!
He was born at the wrong time , he'd walk into today's side!

Why was George Simpson-Hayward nicknamed "the Lobster"?
When you win the toss - bat.
If you are in doubt, think about it - then bat. If you have very big doubts, consult a colleague - then bat.

I'd go with that idea Clobs. I picture a rotund fella heaving the ball skywards , waaaaaaay above the eyeline and bringing it down with snow on it at the batsman's feet - and all at 30 mph !
         How's that WG ?

Close enough - he was the last underarm bowler in test cricket, lobbing off-breaks, hence the Lobster.

Idiot, idiot, IDIOT!!

Bloody pub quiz question ......... the Chappell's (Ian, Greg and Trevor) maternal grandfather Vic Richardson played for Australia.

So the three are:

Headelys
Tremletts
Chappell-Richardsons

Walter just seemed too old to be his grandfather.

Ok my turn. Who was the first New Zealander to score a double century?

Sledge, what was your expected answer and from what source - I've now done a bit of googling and most sites point to the Tremletts, Headleys and Khans (Jahangir and Bazid) as the three Grandfather & Grndson combos ........... but I know Vic Richardson was the Chappells maternal Grandfather and played for Australia in the Bodyline series.

Don't you love this site - cricket and genealogy combined!!
