Gets underway in a few days time and could be quite interesting. There will be no Tendulkar for India, no Murali, Jayasuriya, Mendis or Jayawardene for Sri Lanka while Bangladesh are back to just about full strength with Mortaza, Shahriar Nafees, Aftab Ahmed and Alok Kapali back.

Good to see Bangladesh back to full strength but I think there is still a question mark over Mortaza's fitness. In Shakib, Mortaza, Tamim and Ashraful they have four world class players, whom BAN will rely heavily upon. Nafees, Kapali and Aftab are a welcome inclusion into the side, which makes BAN look very good for the first time in history!

 SLN have a lot of new faces in their line up, Mahela, Fernando, Matthews and Murali are still injured while Mendis and Malinga have been dropped. Good to see Thushara and Chamara Silva back in the line up.

IND will start off as the clear favorites and I expect them to win this trophy. Difficult to see IND losing any game. Very likely that BAN will cause an upset (most likely against SLN) in this tri-series.

They might cause an upset against the Indians as well sam. They have done it twice in the past including the one in the 2007 World Cup. Its all about living up to their potentials for the Bangladeshi's. Indian team looks good but they have been playing continuously for quite a while now.

Sri Lanka's face faces have shown a lot of promise in the series against India and Randiv looks a real prospect. Tushara's return will boost the attack. I guess its the end of the road for Jayasuriya.

I agree Dips. BAN can pull out a win over Indians as well and that won't be an upset now. Enough of that upset thing with the BD team. They are a good enough one day team and specially this time round they are looking quite solid. I think SRL is the weaker team in the tournament. Indians have also to sort things about their bowling - their batting has never been under question with the players they have. It is just their bowlers ho leak runs almost every time they bowl.

Given India's mighty batting line up I don't really see SLN or BAN beating them. I agree that SLN look the weakest team in this series but we'll have to see how their young guns perform.

India's mighty batting is their strength but they can well have a bad day and if they do - certainly their bowlers are not good at all to cover them up.

Mortaza is injured so Shakib will lead. I agree India will win most of the games but in the final if they play SL they will lose thats my prediction.
Their bowling attack is too weak even Bangladesh's attack looks better than India's.

Mystery, we know your biasness against India so no need for telling us your prediction about them ha ha, he he.
 
And what a surprise, Bangladesh have back their big guns, surely look a much more challenging team now.  I thought this was gonna be a complete no show but i'm thinking twice now.  Iqbal, Ashraful, Aftab and Shakib has fire power and Nafees is a good player.  Inconsistency is their killer which is cause by shortage in their brain circuit.
 
Bangladesh strength is their spinners but against India, that's completely out of the equation.  This India batting line up is too strong and I think Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will have a real tough time bowling to Sehwag, Yuvraj, Raina, Dhoni and the more level headedness of Gambhir and Kohli.
In troubled times, being philosophical helps a great deal, it helps you to remain sane and not do any further damage.

Thats rightly said Spinny, BAN rely very heavily on their Spin attack, they have four of them Shakib, Razzak, Mamudullah and Naeem Islam, and three of them will surely play, but against IND it is not likely to work!

Why do you just want to proof everyone wrong their bowling attack is weak everyone knows that no reason to hide it.

Coz, India win so much these days which effectively means Indian bowlers conceed less runs than opposition bowlers which effectively means that Indian bowling attack is much better than oppostion. You may keep saying that Indian batting is much stronger, that's why Indian bowling attack's weakness is hidden.If that makes you guys happy so be it. Wait till next overseas tour and closely examine the Indian bowling performances against its opposition.

Raj has a point folks, India bowling lately hasn't struggled badly overseas, RP Singh and Khan bowled well in England in 2007, Sharma, RP Singh bowled well in Aussie, they won a test in SA etc. 
 
Anyhow, i'm with Raj here, i'm sorry for Sri Lanka and Bangladesh against India!

it all starts today as SLN take on BAN, Nice short and quick Tri Series this!!! Good entertainment for the fans, Although I'm not sure if the players will like playing back to back matches on consequtive days!

It turns out exactly that way as well Zuhair! Still BAN fought really well, Aftab and Kapali can easily make it to the side in place of Raqibul and Kayes and that would mean that BAN will have a much more reliable line up. It is just that they don't want to play ICL rebels straight away because the current players have already earned their places in the side!!!

Guys I'm not kidding... just look at BAN's batting, they bat down till No.8 and with Mortaza back in, they'll bat till No.9. This is a seriously good side in the making.

All of us were wrong... SLN have beaten India easily! IND will bounce back though, I'm quite sure.

Zuhair was spot on, Batting second is a lot easier here because of the dew factor. The team batting first will have to score in excess of 300 to stand a good chance.

If the authorities know dew will be a factor, why not play day games and not one-sided day/nighters?  That's just as bizarre as saying to play Cricket in England in November.

Absolutely Spin. I also hate to see such unfair matches. Toss should never be a major factor at least in ODI's.

There are worse teams than Renault in F1 Zuhair... they'll feel so bad if they hear this!!!   I'm least interested in F1 next season as Kimi is not participating... hope Ferrari suffer defeat after defeat and realise the importance of Kimi!!!
 
Anyways, BAN look good 188/3 in 34. Young Kayes playing well and earlier, Tamim scored a breezy 60... I agree with Zuhair though, IND will win.
