Topic: Pak vs Eng T20 Posted: 21 February 2010 at 1:10am |
England won the first and Pakistan won the 2nd one today. Mainly I started this because I wanted to comment on a superb show from Razzaq today.
5 sixes on one of the biggest Cricket grounds in the world. Even Afridi couldn't clear it - when Swann was bowling, I told my bro it would be stupid to try and hit him for sixes because the boundaries were massive.
Razzaq did what he does best, hit the ball brutally and it just makes you wonder why Pakistan left him out of their side for the time that he was out. Clearly he's been one of the better all-rounders in World Cricket. He bowls well and bats well.
Pakistan really bamboozles me with their selection decision, even worse than the West Indies. He's a better player than Afridi no doubt, but Afridi is never excluded in the shorter format.

I cant understand one thing why they drop Kamran?? In T20 he is a must thats the worst decision selectors have made.

Very true - you cant exclude Razzaq from a T20 side. look at his bowling and batting stats in this format. He does not leak runs and takes wickets regularly upfront, which is why Pakistan usually gets to chase modest totals. i have no doubt inn mind that not only is he a far better player than Afridi but is also the cleanest striker of the ball. The guy has no half measures - I have hardly seen him getting caught on the boundary ropes - when he hits them - he for sure hits them for sixes.

I agree with Mystery - there is no logic behind dropping Akmal from the version of the game he plays best - there is no point dropping your key player for bad performance in another format of the game. Beats logic - but then they are the PCB.

PCB is only the single board which select the players on the performance of the other formats. Kamran was dropped because he played poorly in Test and odi. If required then he should only be dropped from test matches or odi. This is the preperation for the World T20 and they must play all the player which will be the part of it. I dont think they will let out Kamran. What did Rana wrong? He did a good job in T20. Without Aamer they should have picked him. In my Opinion Pakistan is missing one Batsman in the middle order who can control the Innings like Younis. They should bring Misbah back in T20s. He didn't do well in test matches and odis but its T20 and he has good figures for it.

I am fine withe middle order - Malik Fawad and Umar doing fine with Razzaq and Afridi providing the late boost. Akmal with Nazir at the top will be just fine.

As you said in another thread Zuhair, Gayle and Razzaq hits them very clean. Remember Gayle in Adu Dhabi in 2008, he cleared those big boundaries with ease, just like Razzaq did on Saturday.

1-1 then , with Razzak pulling a rabbit out of a hat! England's problems with openers is transparent and it looks a certainty that another South African in Kieswetter will make the T20 WC starting XI in the Caribbean. Add to that Lumb and the entire top order could be South African born - dare they do it ?? I've no problem with their selections , but here in SA I'm taking a lot of flak !

even though Pakistan have won the match, it was not convincing. It was just the brillance of Razzaq to win them the match. They are not ready for the T20 World cup. Umar Guls bowling is a big worry for them. He has to get back his form if Pakistan want to defend their title. My team would be:
Kamran Nazir Umar Afridi Malik Fawad Misbah Razzaq Aamer Gul Ajmal
Reserve: Rana, Farhat, Tanvir, Arafat

Well, teams who like to slog and take advantage of short boundaries will be a bit out of luck in the T20 WC in the Caribbean. 3 of the 4 grounds being used have 3 of the biggest boundaries back here. St. Lucia, Barbados and Guyana are good size, whoever gets St. Kitts will be licking their lips.

The playing area might be big SW , but where will the rope be ?? I'm betting they'll be well in as the powers that be want plenty of 6's.

That's quite right, I guess in Guyana though, the slowish surface will make up for that though.
