I'm back!

... and I'm back with the series I'm really looking forward for. PAK take on the Aussies in what I believe should be a competitive series. Pakistan have got a formidable bowling attack and if their batsmen can find form then they should pose a good challenge to the Aussies. However, Australia will be the clear favorites and even a drawn series will be an achievement for Pakistan.

One things for certain, if Pakistan drop as much catches as they did against the kiwis, they will be losing by an innings every game.

I'm looking forward to seeing my favourite Mohammed Asif bowl.

Yes, Paksitan's fielding needs to improve a great deal.

Talking about Pak's squad, I think the late selection of Mohammed Sami has been a good one. Sami has been doing well at the domestic level and is still 28, so I think it is a good call.

If I understand it correctly then Sami has been selected purely on the basis of his pace... Although Pakistani bowlers did extremely well in the first two tests against NZL, one always had a feeling that they may struggle on batting friendly wickets, and that's exactly how it turned out in the last test. In such conditions you need an express fast bowler just to have that fire power. I agree both Gul and Aamer can touch 140K but that is not express fast, Sami can consistently touch 150K and in the past during that brief period when he partnered Akhtar with the new ball he used to match Akhtar for pace consistently. Although I'm not entirely sure about this but I believe he has also touched 160K once and that tells you something about the pace at which this man can bowl!

How happy you must be Sam that your favorite Butt has scored 153 in the FC game against a decent bowling attack. Boxing day test is at MCG - where Butt scored his famous 108 against a very strong Australian bowling attack of 2005. Maybe - things are in his favor.

Sami's selection is as weird as it could have got in PCB. He has not done anything of note in the domestic championship and does not even make the top 25 bowlers in the season. Pathetic selection this one. Mohammad Talha could have been a good choice here.

sure I am Zuhair. He needs to carry on this form into the test series though. In Butt's case confidence plays a big role I believe, we have seen how heavily he can score if he gets a good century early on in a series and then how poor he can be when he is failing and his place in under threat. He still has a lot to do o prove himself though.

by the way I don't know why but I'm again facing problems logging in to cricket world. if I use my laptop I can login only through Mozilla and if I use my desktop I can only log in through Google Chrome!!! This is as strange as it could get!!! may be some problem with my machines!!! I don't know!

I had hopes on WI doing better against Aus considering Taylor & Edwards, now even without them WI almost won the second match and in third they came so near to winning it.

I feel pakistan biggest worry will be their bowling and openers, it is not penetrative at all imo.NZ pitches they should have been much more effective. How could they allow Dan Vettori to become 3rd highest scorer (taking nothing from Dan, but still)?

I rate only Aamir very highly.Others I am not sure.

PAK making easy work of Tasmania here. I believe Rauf will get a place ahead of Gul in the first test. Wonder if Gul is injured, he bowled only 5 overs.

Also Aamer should have been rested for this game, they are giving the young man far too much work load. He is only 17!!!

Too much of his 17 years of age Every time he is on the screen we are made to hear about his 17 years age. One thing is that he is not 17.

But it gets irritating every time he comes to the screen - they remind us of his age at least thrice an over.

Damn so sure. He was playing here some three years back from a club that came to play against local Karachi clubs. And he was 17 then according to his ID card.

Yep, I agree with Zuhair here!  Aamer surely doesn't look 17.  Tim Southee looks more youthish than him.

Which poses the obvious question - was he, or other players, for that matter, over-age when playing in last year's Under-19 World Cup??

That's quite a long running theme though isn't it? Waqar Younis was actually 87 years old when he retired.

... and seriously that is not fair. The ICC must have better measures in place to ensure a fairer competition.

cant help it mate. It is quite a normal practice in Pakistan. Parents delay the birth certificates of their kids in order to get admission in schools. Then those who play can easily have a fake birth certificate because of the corrupt system we have.

There are many other players in the who are older than officiel date. Afridi looks also above 30 to me.

If first match is a draw or Pakistan win than 1-1 but if Australia win the first match than 3-0.

Forget it matey. It won't be 3-0 at all. 2-1 either way is my prediction. Gul has got injured and I hope they now play the talented Rauf instead of Sami.

Yousuf will be the top scorer from Pakistan. Shoaib AKhatr was on TV last night and said that the most threatening of Aussies bowlers will be Bollinger - he said Bollinger does not look that threatening from the tele but will really cause problems.

Looking forward to seeing the battle between ponting and yousaf as captains and batsmen. Best batsmen for their respective sides and yousaf did pretty good when last here with a stylish century at the mcg. Should be good series.

Will be interesting to see how spinners fear this series. Pakistan batmen made easy work of Kerjza in the tour match. Don't think Hauritz will be much of a problem there. i would play Ajmal instead of kaneria - but Kaneria is the form bowler they will go with him. I still believe Ajmal could be more effective against the Aussies.
