Topic: Pakistan v Australia (in England) Posted: 21 July 2010 at 4:55pm |

At the moment Pakistan have huge advantage but Pakistan is the only team which can throw away matches from a winning position. They need only one session to lose a match. Ponting should have confidence till last ball that he can win. Normally its an ideal position where Pakistan should win, maybe with an Innings. The Bowling was excellent. the conditions were good but its a really good effoert to get Australia out for less than 100.

Nice bowling to get Aussies under 100.I for sure believe that Pakistan will end up losing even from this stage. Now Pak are 131-1.
100-150 runs lead won't do it for Pakistan, around 200 lead is decent, but Aussies batting is capable of putting up huge second innings score.
I would say advantage pakistan only after Pakistan muster 250-300 runs first innings lead.

there doing good so far anyway 133/1, i dont seed how people can criticise their batting so much they still have a talented line up. there not the best batting side but i think they have a great chance of winning this one.

148/3 and Australia is getting slowly in. A target around 120 will be enough for Pakistan in the 4th Innings.

Australia need Pakistan to collapse for under 250. A deficit of 150 still keeps the Aussies in the game. But seriously, shocking stuff. Full credit to Pakistan, amazing stuff.

If Pakistan do as some on here are saying and go on to lose from this position , then they're a worse side than Bangladesh! A lead of 150 and their bowling attack should see them comfortably home - Australia are not what they were! So come on , Pakistan supporters , have some faith !!

Fingers crossed. But we all know here in Pakistan that we have a very little chance of winning this one. Had this been against any other team we would have surely backed our team - but there is something about Australia that we just can't hold on.

Australia bats to 9, that score in the first innings was pathetic. Ponting and Katich both bat well in 2nd innings, so we'll see what happens. Australia would seriously need to make 500 to win the game and that's a long , long , long way away.

Just read the weather forecast for Leeds and it's not encouraging. Heavy rain at times and in Yorkshire , when they mean heavy , they mean really heavy! Let's hope they've got it wrong (again) and there's plenty of play today.

I'd rather see Pakistan win than a draw... I want a result for this game. In Sydney, Australia were bundled out by the fast bowlers yet Australia still went on to win. I don't think Pakistan will be able to chase 150 in the 4th innings, just depends on what the Aussies can do from here on in and what the weather will dictate.

Watson, North, Hauritz - the destroyers of Pakistan in the last 4 tests that Australia has played against them. I don't know how to fathom this outcome...

Yet again - its Watson's turn. It will be either Katich or North in the 4th innings. Its strange how Pakistan manage to play the front line bowlers with some ease and gift it to the lesser ones. Not for nothing we are called the Pakistan Cricket Team though.

Well Ponting is 61* and has a chance for a ton , which is needed. If Clarke and Ponting both make triple figures and the rest contribute, even Hilfenhaus at 10 got a 50 in the last test, then 250 could be put up as a chase and it will be game on! Australia hasn't lost a test this decade after being bundled for less than 200 in the first innings. Let's hope they can do something in the 2nd innings, no one likes a one sided affair.

Aussies have built 40 runs lead with 5 wickets in hand - that's vital - anything above 100 and Pakistan cant chase

That's not true mate , but I would say 170 or so might take some getting. I reckon you'll be feeling a lot happier now that Clarke's gone and they're only 63 ahead with 4 wickets left.
It's Pakistan's to lose now...............

Smith batting at 8 has worked wonders. Wonderful knock. 180 is defendable if Bollinger and Johnson stand up.

SYDNEY mates. You come to PAkistan and ask any cricket fan here - he is not betting on Pakistan. So fragile has our batting been that we just cant think that we can win even from this position. Bollinger's late evening wickets have brought Australia back in the business. It will be a tense day today - it seems to me that that dynamite Smith's innings will eventually prove to be the deciding factor.

If it was 100 runs I put money on Australia, but 40 is nothing. I think North will be dropped and we'll see Khawaja or Hughes coming in. My side would certainly have Hughes opening and Watson at 6 where North is. The other alternative is batting Smith at 6 and then Hauritz coming back, but that is a risk. Certainly against India the selectors will want 2 spinners, so I think that may mean Watson will have to bowl more and opening the batting you can't be doing too much bowling.

so, the mighty Aussies have played 7 meaningful matches on this tour, and lost 6 of them.
