Seeing that Cricket Manager thread earlier today reminded me that some
people might enjoy playing Battrick - a free cricket management game
where you take over a side and a responsible for team selection, net
training, youth development and finances too. It is great fun - easy to
get into but plenty of depth as well.

you can pay a small annual fee voluntarily if you wish but it doesn't
affect the game in any way shape or form if you do (i.e your team
doesn't get any better all of a sudden), it simply makes more stats
available to you.

Its so hard to pick your batting line up. You have to take hours to decide who bats first because you dont know who is the best at batting. On your squad list, they mix it up, they put people who's batting is competent in some places and people with mediocre batting in other places. There should be a button, like cricket manager, the button should help re-arrange the batting thing. Meaning, the button should make all the good batman go at the top and bad batsman at the bottom. This should go with bowling as well. I spent hours picking my batting line up

over time you realise the best positions for each player. Also there is
a Java tool you can download that helps you sort it all out a bit more
easily.

I've just signed up. But I would say cricket manager is definetly a better game than this. In cricket manager, you can rename the players so then you can easily recognise them. In Battrick you cant.

This is harder to get started with but I guarantee you that long term this game is light years ahead of Cricket Manager.
If you want me to take a look at your squad and suggest who you should
fire, who would be worth training etc, I'm happy to do so.

No, you can C&P the squad and post it here - I know it will be a
long post etc but it will help anyone else taking up the game to get a
handle on how to evaluate their squad.

Next thing is have a look at the transfer market to see if you can find
anyone around 17 or 18 years old with the following capabilities rated
at Mediocre or better ideally (if one or two are at Feeble we may still
be able to work with them)
Stamina
Batting
Concentration
(These are the 3 most important batting attributes)

Bowling
Consistency

he's not bad so keep an eye on him but I expect he'll go for quite a

of £50k.
Look out for Amith Husni, currently around £4000 who have potential.

Both you and Crownmethod should 5 FIVE PR Officers and ONE Financial Officer.
Akki you don't really have much by way of good trainees so you should
have a look for younger playwers such as those I picked out for
Crownmethod earlier.
Once you guys maybe pick up a couple of trainees we can look at hiring coaches and developing training schemes for you.

Hire some coaches to be able to do the following;
Clegg - 2 batting nets and 1 stamina
Walton - 2 x Stamina nets
Dlomo - 2 x Stamina, 1 x Fielding
Turley - 1 x Stamina, 1 x Fielding

You need to hire exactly 10 coaches, no more. In your case you need 6 x
Fitness Coaches, 2 x Batting Coaches & 2 x Fielding Coaches.
Also hire 4 x Psychologists, 5 x PR Officers and 1 x Financial Officer
(If I were you I would hire the PR and Financial offices now, but
loeave the coaches until after the finance update at 5.30pm today).

Any tips on who to make attack/defend with the bat/ball. I've gone with your advice for the team with some minor adjustments:
Silk
Carson
Dlomo (capt)
Whiting
Hawn
Clegg(wkt)
Walters
Walton
Farrow
Turley
Siyabulela

I pretty much set all my players to very attacking with the bat and mix
it up with the bowling - with your bowling only Walton will be much
good just now so I'd set him to normal or attacking and the rest to
defensive or very defensive.
As I have set to the others try to look on the transfer market for 17
years with at least mediocre in either stamina/batting/concentration or
stamina/bowling/consistency as they will make great trainees.
Incidentally from next Sunday I'll gladly start taking friendlies
against any of you guys to get a look at your team and see how it is
going.

It can take weeks before the coaching takes effect.
The youth academy and ITS thing is something you need to decide whether
you want to risk the money. In my opinion in the short term you would
be better spending nothing on youth academy and tryin gto buy some
cheap 17 year olds.

What happens if u cheat in this game? Like, you make another team, team, then you use ur original team to sell a player(one that has all its skills as abysmal) put the asking price as 200,000. Then you get the new team that u made to buy that player, then you original team would be so rich!

guys dont forget that after the Saturday financial updates you can pull
a new player from your youth academy even if you don't want to use any
ITS points. You should pull every week just in case, you never know
your luck. If he is rubbish just fire him, otherwise keep or sell him.
When you get round to using ITS points on a youth player let me know and I can advise how best to use them.

OK but whenever I try and sign a good player I never get him, I think I should go on Battrick more often so i dont get outbidded at the last second!
