in my eyes, harbhajan, but well tat was a bit obvious wasnt it as he is my favourite player along with flintoff and warne. Minimurali will obviously go for murali, but put aside the wickets and the averages as harbhajan is young, murali is oldish. ONE ON ONE, who would win, who would rip it, who would chuck?

Harbhajan is a good bowler, but not of Murli's class. He is a normal good bowler. He is not even up to Kumble's class. He has to learn a lot. He is not very consistent. This is a true fact and I also find Murli a better bowler than Warne, but close contest. Warne is catching up in my rankings. But still it is opinon. Both are the world's greatest spinners at the moment. Warne is the greatest leg-spinner and Murli is the greatest off- spinner. of this decade.

Undoubtably Murali Harbajan in far away from him . He can just bowl well on the home grounds.

Murali is way better, he frightens the batsman where as Singh doesn't. And Murali has more wickets than him. So Murali is way better.

i think the better question is who has the better doorsa, as murali is the obvious choice of who is the better offspinner

murali but bhajii is still only 25 years old with 200+ test wickets if he can get back to form and play till 35 and take 60 test wickets every year it would mean at 35 he'll have 800 test wickets

but....harbhajan singh is not in good form even though he played well in the last test he average 30 with the ball so he could get 50 wickets an year meanining till 35 700wickets he'll probably get thats if he plays every test and is not in good form if hes in good form throughout the rest of hes career then 800

Nobody consistently takes 60 wickets a year you fool...Warne, McGrath, Garner, Murali, Donald, Lillee have all been able to do it, but they are all greats.. Plus guys get injured, lose form, play less tests some years. Not Possible.
Warne is the best ever spinner, followed by Syd Barnes,Subhash Gubte , O'Reilly, Muralitharan...
Singh is not on that list Matey.

Your cricket knowledge is so limited and it does not surprise me...young people are ignorant..You think only modern/current players are the best..well, look him up and read about him.
Kumble is one of the most successful Medium Pacers in the history of the game.

Well why don't you do some research....the whole point for me to come on this forum was to speak about cricket with people who know what they are talking about, and there are guys like that on the forum for sure. But you my friend are defeating that purpose, by pointing out the obvious or asking silly questions...I would rather be a smarta** then a dumba** like you!

Murali is obsessed with getting guys out bowler. He always pitches his doosra outside leg so it can spin on and hit the stumps, and with his offie he tries to get it to spin on to the stumps. Murali gets no caught behinds, he go this first caught behind in a test in the series versus India 05/06 !!!!!!!

Yep, a few tests ago for Murali, absolutely amazing.. Warne, MacGill who are to big turners of the ball aswell have quite a few Caught behinds..so it is a big surprise. It defiantely has to do with the lines he bowls and also the amount of doosras he bowls (MacGill and Warne turn the ball away from the right hander generally)

Infact there is no surprise, offspinners get their wickets by bowled or LBW, where as if they have or allowed Doosra then there is a posibility of of gettin caught behind or stumps, infact its easier to play an offspinner compared to a leggie. The most round the leg bowled outs have been achieved by warne, and I don't think thats a crime as its within the rules and he turns the ball so much.
|

Definately not a crime, but you would think Murali SHOULD have more Caught behinds...If you think about if left handers are not taht uncommon these days...4 of he 7 top order batsmen in Aust. are lefties.

But we all know the controversies with murali in australia, if the matches were played on even fields he would have been more successful, otherwise he doesnt get too many lefties to bowl at, infact he is unfortunate to have bowled to righties more.

and in most of the teams lefties r mostly the openers. so the may not survive till murali is brought

All of those are very good strong Australian batsmen. Its as if the foundation of the team is of left-handers .

i totally agree with the above, the only similarity bhaje has with murali is that they were both accused of chucking..........! otherwise murali is ranked way above bhajees and kumble's and can only be compared with all time great spinners like shane warn or abdul qadir.

He is one of the most successful bowlers in history and only the 4th man to get 500 wickets and one of a few Indians to get to that magic milestone of 100 tests. Ability wise he is not a great bowlers, he is efficient and uses clever changes of pace , flight and bounce to get wickets..rather then spin, drift and guile.
He is not a great spinner (the term spinner in use, he CAN barely spin the ball)
He is a wonderful BOWLER and innovative but not a great spinner no.
He is still in my books a guy you would want in your side and he complements Harbajhan beautifully with the OFF SPIN - LEG CUT combo.

How did Bhajji even come that close. I thoght that he would lose with 0 votes. The stupidest thread ever produced in the history of the Earth. It's like comparing Bradman to Mohammed Yousuf. I know that Tousuf is one of the grat batsman of today but still guys come on even Tendulkar is nothing compared to Bradman. I know that you meant one on one warnester, but still Murlitharan spins the ball more has more variation.
