You obviously relax when you get into the 20's and your concentration goes. So instead of thinking "I've got to 20, that's pretty good" try to think of scoring in 10's, and once you get to 10 you have to start again and get to the next 10 - and just forget about your total score, it will take care of itself.

It may also have something to do with fitness perhaps? I'm not saying you're unfi, but this is one of my problems. Fitness is a massive part of cricket that is often ignored.

Just an idea

it could be concentration as someone earlier said, but e.g. say your first thing is to keep your wicket, and then score runs, weel generally when people get into 20's 30's that seems to turn around and become score runs, then keep wicket! so try keep it the same, jaques kallis is a prime example!

Ask your friend on the non strikers end to count your score and you count his score. That way u won't have to theink about your score

you are obviously having a lapse in concentration after the 20's .forget the previous delivery you have faced and focus only on the next one also keep your mind fresh from all other thoughts and focus only on the next delivery thinking it to be your first one .After each ball is bowled move away talk to yourself gather back your concentration and focus and get ready again .Also pay least importance to your personal score and play for the team .I hope it'll help you.you are also having a temperment problem maybe

All good advice above. I struggled last season always getting out in the twenties, when I was feeling relaxed and comfortable. The way I got round it was (and it is a LOT easier said than done) is just to forget about the score. Get into the mindset that you can be out on 1 as easily as 100 and then the score becomes irrelevant because you are batting to stay there, concentrate, I mean really concentrate on every ball talk to yourself, constantly remind yourself that it is the next ball that matters not how many runs you have/plan to get etc and the runs will come. Try not to replay the last ball (tricky if it was glorious drive), keep reminding yourself to concentrate on the task in hand not what you  have just done scored etc.. Now I’m no psychologist but this worked for me- All season out in the twenties (1 or 2 lower) worked on my mindset and ended the last 5 games 78 (no), 56, 0 (lbw outside leg !!!) 60, 59. Now I just need to focus more and drive on to those magic 3 figures. Hope some of this helps and good luck!

cheers now I think of it my best score came from when my team lost 3 quick wickets chasing 100 (you know how easy everyone thinks that score is to chase and gets out) all I did was make sure I hung in there until the guy at the opposite end got going and then all I did was try and give him as much strike thats when I think I'm at my best unfortunatly in doing so I skyed a sweep shot and was caught at the boundry . Thank you very much for all your advice folks I shall try to apply all these tactics next season so I can achieve my target of 300 runs.

^ from reading that im not sure if its concentration or just carelessness. I think you need to put a higher price on your wicket. When you get into your 20's put the big shots away. don't look for boundaries instead pick up 1's and 2's. There's no shame in rotating the strike. Even if the guy at the other end is playing a Gilchrist/Afridi type innings just play your own game.

I too used to get out in the 20's and 30's a lot. Now i use this period to build an innings by accumilating 1's & 2's. Its something that comes to most players with experience.
