I can't say i know alot about rhe New Zealand team but i think having Vettori where he is now is good insurance against a batting collapse.

I think Vettori is quite flexible but I put 7.

I agree, he's definitely nothing special with the bat averaging 24 in tests. I think 7 or 8 is a perfect position for him.

6 or 7 is the best he can get.

I would say he has alot of talent but he would need to be more consistant with his scores before being considered a true all rounder.

6 or 7 the lowest to me! No matter that last innings, he aint no-how a middle order batsman at all.

7 is alright for him.u cant put pressyre on him by playin him up the order, this will just effect his performance.U can take best example of Irfan Pathan.

I thought the experimentation with Pathan was a good one. I would say he has a future high up the order as a pinch hitter or somebody to keep momentum from the innings.

I think he will be pretty good coming ahead of Vincent  but no 6 or 7 is the ideal place for him .

I feel 7 is best for him, its high enough so that nz can utilize his batting ability without a pressure of having to score runs as a middle order bat. He has also become quite a good finisher to the innings, with some good meaty blows and unorthodox shots.

I would play him at seven and chose an extra batsmen or bowler.. If he plays higher it means that NZ has a guy who asverages 24 in their middle order, not good.

I would put him at 8 because he is somebody who is good enough to be higher up the order, but only at 6 or 7, but they currently have players of higher calibre above him in the batting order. He is a difficult man to get out and scores runs and at number 8 could be a key person to recover the innings. Say if New Zealand are struggling on 150-6 then he could add 20 or 30 runs in a partnership of 50 or 60 with another batsman and could contribute highly in their innings.

I think in one-dayers around 6-7 in tests around 8-9.

bladescape, a general rule of thumb is that if you have something to add to the thread, then post. If you nothing useful to add, then do us all a favour and don't bother.

Especially upping 6 month old threads for absolutely no reason at all.
