I was hoping for a career mode, or a better season mode then '05. But still looks like better gameplay and graphics.

Every other version has been garbage so there would need to be serious improvements to make it worth even considering

Just looks the same to me! Much better with Brian Lara I think.

If the gameplay is better I will get it. '05 has too many glitches and the gameplay was awful - although the graphics are better then RPC.

Pretty good graphics, I wish I was in UK so that I could buy this game.
What is the price of new games usually UK?

£29.99 - that's on Playstation 2 and PC, not sure if there will be an Xbox version.
I think it looks quite good, and as I haven't played a version since 2004, I hope to be quite impressed.

2005 was better in terms of graphics, but the gameplay was shocking... here is what are the positives and negatives of the new game ( I didn't write this)
- My mouse moved very slowly in some menus. + You can now change the team name and abreviation, not to mention player names, without having to download editors from fansites + There are special screen transitions from and to 'Ashes mode'. They're very nice to watch. + As you may have heard, there are 40 special Ashes challenges (putting you in the place of various players during various times of the 2005 Ashes, and forcing you to do as they did or better). They come with videos, special commentary, and really create a sense of (historical) immersion. Well done. - Some of these Ashes challenges aren't in order. They do go test by test (you have to finish all challenges related to the 1st test, before going to the 2nd test), but sometimes it's a mess. Ex: 1st challenge with England: as the team collapsed 21/5, do what Pietersen did - a half century. Challenge 2: get a century from the starting partnership of Strauss and Trescothick. I thought they had gone down quickly in the 1st challenge + you have all sorts of special modes, like playing the whole Ashes Tour or just the Ashes, 4 English county competitions, etc. - Some of the menus have an unsatisfying nuance of brown. We need brighter colors, people! - You know that selection menu, if you didn't want to pick a touring team automatically? You know, the one where you could scroll down a list of players, each with two horizontal lines, batting skill and bowling skill? Well now those lines are smaller. So it's harder to know who's good at what.. + ... but in the same selection menu, players are listed by specialty, not by first letter of first name like in Cricket 2005. So, all opening batsmen, then all batsmen, then all-rounders, then fast bowlers, etc. This is far more helpful. + The batting is intuitive and a god-send. - The pitching isn't. There's less control over where the cursor goes (from what I've read, it's tied in with player talent). Ok, but here's a serious problem for all who, like me, played Cricket 2005 for a very very long time: you use one key to select the delivery type, like say W on the keyboard, but no matter what you still have to use S to actually set the cursor in place. Very different from Cricket 2005, and very annoying. + unlike Cricket 2005, you cannot deliver bodyline-like balls, because you now get warned + The ball bounces more, both when you are bowling and when you are batting. It's also faster ( runs away from Flintoff) + just an impression, but the comp fielding seems to be smarter in adjusting to your shots... - the leg glance still rules... + but other shots are much easier to play successfully + behind-batsman camera: has to be seen to be believed. It's even better than a first-person camera when it comes to putting you in the socks of the batsman. Trust me on this one. + remember how to go from one over to the other you went to a menu and had to use your mouse to select the 'next over'? It was a pain in the butt. Now the 'next over' button is keyed to your controller. + lots of information on screen, between deliveries, etc. + special commentary for some players when they reach milestones. Even Clarke the Australian + the field looks... larger. It's more like real-life cricket, in Cricket 2005 it felt like a schoolyard. Now, there's room and space for all those shots + overall the graphics looks better. + the bowling camera (called 'broadcast') is superb. + the comp may miss shots! or misplay them. Granted, I was playing as Windies against Pakistan in Barbados, on a very grassy pitch and I was struggling with my controller. But the computer looked really nice when trying to play the ball and doing not so well. - Stadiums: if you're not English or Australian, your country got shafted. There's only *one* stadium for the Windies.. with the World Cup and all there should be at least 5. As for India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka... just like in Cricket 2005. - Benaud still says the same things... + But Nicholas is new and it's nice to hear new stuff. He also delivers it pretty well. - fake names. Many of them. Soon some people will put the real ones on the Internet. Watch this forum for updates + new umpires. + several new teams (won't spoil the surprises, but all World Cup teams are there, including Bermuda and Ireland).

EB will have it at $100 and the rest don't have it in stock untill a week after its come out. JB hi-fi have good prices ($80 for new games). The only downside is that they run out of stock too early.

The game came out here on the 16th (Australia).. I have the PC version (I also own Ea Sports Cricket 2004, Cricket 2005 and Shane Warne Cricket '99) It is decent. The commentating my Richie Benaud is AWFUL (same as previous versions), while I don't like Mark Nicholas, he is a welcome addition, replacing Jim Maxwell. I quite like RPC '05 use of 5 commentators. Batting is much better in '07, while the bowling has been tweaked somewhat....
My biggest problem is that Asian and minnow international teams have fake player names!! The first time EA has done this (very disappointed).. Although you can edit names, and I fixed up all the Paki and Indian names, but I do not know like the Irish players (all I know is Joyce and O'Brien).
It is better then 2005, but for your money wait for the Codemasters cricket game (RPC or BLC 2007). I'm a fan of EA, but i would still wait.

I am a big fan of EA too, they are always improving all the sports. Its good that you can edit names, because without names its just not fun.

Hey Dhoni.. When I saw that the names were not licensed I was shocked, and disappointed. But luckily you can edit names, edit numbers and the commentators can still say Singh not Sajev (or what ever the fake name was).
The Ashes promos are awesome. They have 2005 Ashes scenarios, like "Guide Michael Clarke to a century in the first test." And if you are successful you unlock a movie and get to see a clip from the last Ashes.
As well as numerous tours that can be played, world series/championship/knockout tournaments, all of the different Aust. and English domestics seasons and the 2005 nPower and 2006/07 3 mobile Ashes series' can be played.
Friendly matches can also be played, e.g. Australia A versus Bermuda.

The batting is too easy. Even on the hardest setting, you can flick practically anything off your pads. You can consistently get 10 runs an over just doing it repeatedly. I think the problem is that the computer generally bowls too full.

Or maybe thats how the game is made, Roscoe.
I currently have EA games 2005, and its graphics are the best as in worst way. All most everything has green color and has MISSING TEXTURE written on it. But the most important parts are visible. I think its because of memory.
If anybody want to see them, I'll post the screenshots.

That's your graphics card and ram, not the game... I have the game and it does not do that.
Roscoe, the new Ea Cricket (2007) has more realistic batting, and if you have a controller you can use the joystick to bat..which is like Tiger Woods Golf, and it is really good. In cricket 2007 they bowl a lot more shorter balls no (but only two bouncers in tests, and one in odi can be bowled) but they bowl on a length.
If you put the difficulty on the highest and you put on manual batting (you control front and backfoot strokes) then it gets harder..

Fishcake14, BLIC07 is coming out just before the World Cup. It comes out in Xbox360 too. That settles it. If I buy any gaming station, it's going to be Xbox360. I decided that with my mom long ago. So if I am lookig for a cricket game, the BLIC07 is the best choice. I made a thread on it. If it's there we can continue this discussion there, if not, I'll make a new one.

I tried out the Sky Sports one, that is nice. I also tried the Nine's Wide World of Sports one too (the one I get here in Aust.) There is now a new Nine TV graphic with the new season, and it looks fantastic! I hope future editions of Ea cricket has built in Nine's graphics and has hawkeye (like RPIC) and hot spot.

I just got it yesterday for Christmas. Its got great graphics and they have a new anologue controls. you use the right anologue stick to play your shots instead of using the buttons (X,O,Triangle,Square). It takes sometime to get used to though. The left anologue stick is now used for moving the batsman across the batting crease. That takes some getting used to because i'm used to pressing L1 and R1. L1 is used for slogging and R1 to dance down the track. You can hit sixes easily espically if you have played the older versions of it. I think its worth getting

Got it for christmas today, only played on 2 stars of difficulty (out
of 5) but I slogged at 17 an over and won a one dayer easily, will give
it a bit more of a practice in a few days on a harder difficulty and
see what I think.

I think this game is pure quality. There is room for improvement. The roster is disappointing, but a downloaded patch solved that problem. It's too easy to slog. And too hard to play normally (i.e pace your innings).
You always end up being caught behind trying to pace your innings, whilst slogging just becomes a bore. Bowling is very good. Bowling with spinners is actually fun for once. :p

I agree. The bowling is entertaining while batting can be annoying because you can only play an attacking or defensive game. Have you tried playing a match on 5 star difficulty because i would think that it is impossiable to slog. I haven't tried it myself though.

It also has a glitch. Everytime a bowler bowls a bouncer and i try to play a leg glance the umpire calls it leg byes when on the replay shows it touched the bat.

I have cricket 07 and i was hoping for somthing differant from cricket 05. The differances are... 1. the bats are more realistic, updated players, slightly better graphics and thats roughly it.
The commentary is basically the same, the replays are juddary, the players are all muscley for some reason and when when your bowling, when someone takes a catch, they start slidding????????
whatever

I agree the graphics are more realistic but there are definatly problems with it. I'm getting sick of the wicket-keeper over apealling. They should get fined!

I got Cricket 07 for PS2 for Christmas.
A great game for all to enjoy but does contain a few bugs, and the use of the right analog stick for shot selection sometimes means you end up getting out playing a shot in a direction you never meant to place it.

I won it on the ashes challenge so I should get it soon. Winning it was good because I never had any intention of buying it because it sounds kinda bad.

I think its the best that EA have produced. My second favourite EA cricket was 2004 that was a whole lot more realistic than stupid 2005 where i found batting basically impossible.

Hello, I'm new to the forums (obviously), however this topic has my interest.
I got Shane Warne 99 a long time ago and for its time was a good game, its main redeming feature however was the fact you could compile statistics, i HATE cricket games that do not allow you to do this....Cricket 2002/2004 and 2005 i think.
From what i have read
Shane Warne - Can compile stats
Cricket 02/04/05/07?? - Cant compile stats unless its in say a World Cup (which is not really that usefull)
Ricky Ponting/Brian Lara 2005 - Career mode? you can create a player and compile stats?
What options are there for recording stats etc for 2007, im getting it but im sure Ricky Ponting 2007 will be a far better bet. Also will Ricky Ponting retain the career mode?

they do it in all cricket, they did it in 04, 05 and now in 07 averages etc can be seen on tours test series and domestic seasons and your players form goes off the backing of these stats. also if your talking about stats as in their real life stats theyve got them too

I must confess EA Sports Cricket 2007, is the best cricket game I have played, and I have played most.
The game has updated stats on all palyers.
You can play England domestic and Aus domestic, all competitions.
I love the new feature, playing past ashes moments, from the 2005 series.
It is a great game for the cricket lover, for example if your batting in a test match, you have to be patient to score runs, you cant just push the six hit button the whole time. The bowling is also big fun with big swing and spin.
The only downside was, that it seems that the sub -continent teams has not been licensed, so they play with funney names.
------------- I saw into the future - Ashes 2009 England 3 Australia 1!

Far too many bugs to be thoroughly enjoyable, no more than a bit of fun.

EA sports cricket 07 is the best cricket game I've ever played on, they've made the batting easier, and they've put in a conroller reassign feature, which is great, becasue I never want to bowl.
The bowling's still not that great though, I hate the way the blue circle moves
