Hi all,

This thread is a Battrick related one, however I wanted to keep it separate from the MASSIVE generic thread.

I have purchased a new trainee and wanted to share his progress whilst I train him up as A) a training tool for other Battrick users and B) as a bit of fun.Smile

A grest trainee you got there Boof, he will be something like wonderful or exceptional after three seasons.
Why don't we turn this into a Battrick training thread? We can post our trainees and folow their progress.

My original post vanished....

This can stay open but not as a place to post every single trainee/net session/pop in existence.

It is to be kept only for special trainees like Boof's, or for any player you are giving a large chunk of your nets over to.

Well, i have this player who i am giving 3 bowling nets to

ill start to give him fielding and fitness once i have free nets, which will hopefully be next week or the week after

I don't personally believe the additional benefit of the 3rd net is worthwhile so you would be better going with 2 bowling and stamina for now, then fielding when you have it available

Well, clobber, its because i have no one else to give my third net to, and if i fire and hire, that would cost me quite a lot money - an extra 4500 if i am correct.

i would rather give him 3 nets this season, which will give me an extra four to five weeks of poping, and next season, ill use the 3rd net on someone else.

The other guy is a better trainee because of his consistency. This one has such low concentration that even after 3 seasons it probably still won't be good enough for him to score regular runs for you. If you do want to train him give him 2 x bowling, 1 x Batting, 1 x Fielding & 1 x Keeping which is the best way of improving his secondaries.

I'd go for 1 x bowl, 2 if you can spare them. Stamina is OK for now IMHO, better to give someone stamina who really needs it. If he's your least fit player, then stick 1 stam on him too. Make sure you have enough psychs to help the secondaries tick over at a reasonable rate (6-8 I'd guess is ok).

My 2 cents.

Ciao

Soon, I'm going to spend 100 ITS on this guy and then give him 10 training sessions and watch him floursish to be Don Bradman and George Lohmann in one amazing player.

You can only spend so many ITS on a player, its 32 or 36 I believe, either way it isn't 100. Feel free to use all the ITS and 10 nets on the guy, you wont be able to use him while he is netting, and you will end up as a club with one superstar.

Teams with a superstar have many problems, the first being that if this particular player gets out, or doesnt bowl particularly well then your team is going to loose. Also people can set tactics for it. I'm about to play a very had game on friday because the other team has a 250,000BTR player so i'm going to attempt to counter this fact by setting my opening bowlers to defensive (the player is an opening batsman) in an attempt to curb his efficenticy.

Another problem with a superstar is that the wages are fairly damn high.

You would want a player starting on respectable/respectable for their primary and secondary (fitness doesnt matter so much with a long term trainee as it always goes up the same speed)

He's not good enough really, most of the u19 candidates are proficient by now, he 's a low respectable  with poor secondarys.

Your New Zealand player is differnet though, because of his high secondaries he might get in.

Marrison's pretty good though

I brought this bloke yesterday, put 3 nets on him (2Xbat 1XFit) and he has popped twice. Going to be getting alot more nets now I'd say.

From Respect/Med/Med to Proficent/Comp/Med i'll take certainly, pity he is South African because he is going to be getting alot of training, in one swoop he has strengthened my squad alot. He is now my joint best batsman.

If he has popped twice after his first nets session with you then I think you found a vendor who didn't appreciate how close he was to popping, or else common sense would have seen him keep him then sell him for quite a bit more after the pops. Nice one for you of course.

Posted By: Kerm
Date Posted: 19 February 2007 at 12:28pm
I saw that his wage was high for a med primary so I thought it was worth a chance, as it happens it seems to have paid off, and I finally have a trainee worthy of the title. Now however I have to balance training him to a high standard and using him (as one of my best batsmen) in order to stay up, I have two must win games comming up so i'll likely use him for those then load up on the nets for the games where i'll get trounced anyway, I have fairly suitable backup for him, nice to have what will be, with any luck a nice reliable opening batsman.

actually he might have just been pulled from the academy with no plans on doing anything other than selling him... but still rare to find a transferee with so little needed to pop him - nicely done :)

Posted By: Kerm
Date Posted: 19 February 2007 at 4:21pm
He was brought up from the academy a month ago acording to his profile, played one match in which he didn't bat, bowl or take a catch and then was sold on, interestingly his wage hasnt changed at all, either have my other two trainees, maybe some form of bug.

Either way i'm happy, havent had any signifigant pops for weeks now, was due something decent.
