Cricket World ® Blasting Bats is a competition between the
Cricket Manufacturers’ contracted players that are competing in the
World Cup.
Have a look on http://www.cricketworld.com/blasting_bats - this page to see how it works.
Each manufacturer will score points based on how many runs are scored but each run will count the same for each manufacturer so as not to give any unfair advantage. There are also bonuses for sixes and centuries.
As well as running the competition between manufacturers, we'd like to set up a prediction competition here on the forum.
To play, you need to select which bat manufacturer you think will score the most points, pick a player who you think will score the most points and have a guess at the weekly points total of your chosen manufacturer.
There will be prizes for those of you who get closest to the points score each week.
Do have a look at the player pages before you choose your team:

Good luck!

just to clarify - if every single player listed for each maker doesn't score at least one run, you get zero points?

No, that's probably my poor explanation.
Total runs scored by all players with one bat X 1/number of players = points
Clearly, the way I did it earlier is not the simplest way of explaining it.

No later than Thursday - I think for this week we can just see how it goes and then launch into full predictions once we have a decent idea of relevant sort points totals.

Just post your entry here.
That goes for everyone:
Post your bat manufacturer, player, and points prediction.
Prizes will be awarded.

doesn't that mean that the 16 Kookaburra players have to score nearly 5000 runs between them to get 300 points?

It doesn't matter - you can pick any player regardless of what bat they use.

yeah I opted for a different manufacturer to my player for tactical reasons

Oh!! I misunderstood the rules then. Thought your player had to be one that used your manufacturer's bat. Even so, I stand by my pick.

Not sure how Sledger does it, but he was closest with his score predictor. He guessed 44, Slazenger the leaders have 48.50.
He actually all but guessed Puma's (his manufacturer) score: 45
No-one picked Hodge as top batsman though.

Well, nothing, seeing as no-one bothered with it past the first week, and it was pretty flawed to be honest.
It'll be back for the Twenty20 WC, hopefully.

you mean we were supposed to change our selections each week??
|

Yes.
I told you it was flawed.
At least for the Twenty20 WC we'll have a better idea of how many points is a good guide.
