I can't vote on this poll? Nonetheless, I would have Hussey opening as it gives an opportunity to play the extra bowler.

Why would you bother moving someone who has an average of about 3000 at no 6?

Because test matches are won and lost through bowlers, not batsman.

valid comment bondy. Australia can put a large part of their success in test match cricket down to the two spearheads of mcgrath and warne.

Exactly, and with the amount of runs scored in test cricket today they are becoming ever-so important in restricting runs.

Good one Graham!

You are right. Without Mcgrath and Warne and already a very good batting side i believe that they will need the extra bowler and knowing the selectors, they will certainly pick Watson who is simply not a wicket taking bowler.

Clarke and Symonds will certainly be used alot more now that the two greats are gone, but still, they are not genuine wicket takers. With Lee, Clark, Tait and a good spinner in the same side, with these all round options, should create an exceptional all round cricket team. I think this is how the side will look:

Hayden
Hussey
Ponting
Clarke
Symonds
Watson
Gilchrist
Lee
Hogg/Macgill
Tait
Clark

There is talk of Watson opening the batting which would be disasterous for the Australan team as we have had very good openers for the last twenty years or so and have relied heavily on them gettin good starts. If Hussey opens, i think we wont miss Langer that much.

Although, if they do pick Jacques (who is their first choice replacement at the moment) Symonds will miss out which i think is very dissapointing. He is an exceptional fielder and can score quickly and bowl ok. I think the Aussies need him more than the likes of Jacques, Rogers, etc...

I don't the think the bowling difference between symonds and watson is very large, symonds would be ahead of watson for me in any side.
