hiya every1Smile

Im 17 years old and can generate quite a bit of pace, purely form my arm speed. My action is very unorthodox but i do not wish 2 change it.

I would be greatful if any1 could advise me on the best run up 4 an arm speed bowler like myself, Should i run in quickly or slowly how long etc.

some tell me to run in quickly to maximise arm speed, others say slower smoother runs are more handy. so ima little confused!!

Thanks guys, hope 2 get some useful advice Big%20smile

Best advice for bowlers who generate their pace from their arms, Watch clips of Wasim Akram.

Personally I'd say that you don't want to be running in too quick as this may affect your natural bowling action. What I mean by this is that your arm may slow down to compensate for the extra pace caused by a quicker run up.
I'd say that a slower (not overly slow though) run up with a good rythym(spelling?) would be better for you.

A slower run up would be the best choice for a quick arm speed bowler. Believe me, I had experience with this one when I was younger. If you try to run in fast and bowl with a fast arm action, it's not as good as a slower run up with a fast arm action.

cheers tyke andd spin wizard

The thing that confuses me a bit tho is that all the quick arm bowlers like wasim and marshall seem to have quick run ups. I have no jump @ all, so i was under the impression a slow run up may slow me down further?

Wasim's run up wasn't overly quick, it had a building rythym so when he got to the crease he had a good bit of speed.

We're not talking about a snails pace run up here. You don't want to come tearing in at the crease as you'd offset your rythym. Come in at a decent pace that's not too quick and you pace will either remain the same or increase.
