Kenya's fielding is appalling compared to the other two - they will be beaten with ease by both sides.

Kenya? Are you kidding? NZ and Sri Lanka are two of the top ODI sides in the world, I'm sure they'll have no trouble in dispatching Kenya.

Lets face it Kenya don't stand a chance of proggresing. i reckon (1) Sri Lanka (2) NZ (3) Kenya

NZ and Sri Lanka should be equal. They both have power hitters whom are ideal for 20/20. It'll be interesting to see how Murali and Malinga bowl. By the way, are all Sri Lanka's players involved?

Kenya looks like the team that will be knocked out of this group. NZ vs SL should be interesting. Both very good teams.

NZ will have a totally revamped batting line up for this tournament, I just read.  McCullum will not be keeping in order to focus on opening the batting with Vincent.  Oram will be batting at #3.  Thats a powerful to-order, I must say.

Posted By: NZ_Fast
Date Posted: 07 September 2007 at 9:09am
I think its great to have Oram at 3, he is a big hitter but takes just a little bit to get going, and batting at 3 should, in theory give him an over or two,  to work some 1's and 2's before really going for it.
McCullum is always explosive at the top of the order, and i like what ive seen of vincent in domestic 20/20, he didn't get inventive, played good shots, just hit 5x as hard.

Posted By: Sledger
Date Posted: 07 September 2007 at 9:15am
I don't see the need to play unorthodox shots - proper hitting , especially over the top will earn it's just rewards. How many times do you see a reverse sweep that earns just a single?  Yes , occasionally there's a boundary , but conversely there's sometimes a wicket!

Good clean hitting will win the tournament , aided by sensible bowling and topclass fielding.  Tis a simple game , cricket.

You're right there! There's potential at the top of NZ's order for once! In this form of the game McCullum and Oram are ideal. I'd like to see Vincent bat through the 20 overs also as he only really shines once he's settled in.

Don't get me wrong, I love cricket and love watching it, but, I have other sports which I also like, of which are obvious to you. I'm not just a cricket fanatic like some around here, as I've said before rugby is bigger in NZ than cricket, so im more inclined to watch the all blacks over the black caps. Plus, it's NRL finals time so I'm also watching that.

Umm yeah i would. he has more experience and has proved to the cricketing world that he is indeed a world class spinner. Panesar ain't far behind though. Vettori is the best in the world at controlling the flight of the ball.

He has good variation within flight, yes. Though I'd argue Murali has even greater control than Vettori.

Vettori is a long way ahead of panesar, as for murali, try throwing a ball down at the stumps, then bowl it properly, you will see which easier to control.

Remarkably , the top four Kenyan batsmen got ducks !!  That reminds me of the famous test match in the 50's when England had India 0-4 with Fred Trueman going ballistic.

Kenya's 73 all out sets NZ up to chase the lowest total set in T20 cricket thus far. At a rate of just over 3.5 runs per over, this should be a cruise for the kiwis.

I was surprised at that too actually. Personally I think 3 is a little high for Oram, even in this form of the game. Looks as if Vincent and McCullum are going to hit out anyway which will give Oram an opporuntity to bat with at least 10 overs left. We bowled well! Begs the question why we left the gifted Chris Martin out of the world cup squad! Good effort boys!

He's more likely to come in at 5 given that they're going to use Fulton at three and shove Oram up the order. I'd like to see Taylor bat in this form of the game though, he's got a fantastic eye and is a treat to watch once settled. He played some fabulous innings in the ODI series in Australia at the beginning of the year- let's hope he can repeat it.

Nice win for SL....they beat a really good team so they should be very happy with themselves. Very good batting from Sanath J. I had a feeling though that spectators were not the only people enjoying his batting...Shane Bond was probably enjoying the innings too because he dropped a catch he should have DEFINATELY taken! OH well you can't blame the man cause Sanath was providing entertainment!
