The guy's a freak he has an average of 57.74 now the worlds best ver all-rounder average (batting average take away bowling average) It's a pity he fires when the team dosen't need him to still I think he'll finish his career with the second most tes tuns after Punter!!!

what do you mean he fires when the team doesn't need him. I am sure Kallis was the reason SA won in Pakistan. And if he got out in the second innnings early in the match versus NZ, the match would've have been a lot closer.
He is the backbone of SA batting line - up. More so in tests.

Yes, they would have been close but anywaay he was cleary firing in A match dominated by the proteas, while Richards and Trumper would never do anything like that.

Congratulations to Kallis on 9000 test runs , lets hope the form continues! 3 centuries in 3 consecutive test matches , ready to make it four against NZ in the next test one feels. He's also getting closer to Ponting in the number of centuries scored (28) v.s (33), but is yet to score that elusive 200 , which surprises me given his ability to concentrate for a large periods of time.

Good one Graham!

He's already had a run of 5 consecutive tests where he scored a ton bondy , we could well be seeing another. With the Windies next in his sights after this test , he could well equal the record of 6 successive matches.

Sure, happy with that, as long as he dosen't beat Punter on anything, I'm sure we all agree Punter is the better player but if Kallis catches up, It wouldn't be fair on puter because his recent form has made up 700 runs, which Punter had him.

Just how wouldn't it be fair  . If Kallis makes the runs , he makes the runs.

Dead right! Just accept it fellas, with the loads of matches played these days, our now legends runs and wickets will be surpassed by others; even if they are of lesser quality!

The match was definitely not dominated by the Proteas, If Kallis lost his wicket, SA line - up could have collapsed. And you mean to say that he shouldn't score runs when Proteas are in good position.
Well, a lot of Ponting runs must have come when Australia were in good position.

I know that Sledge! And, coincidently his run ended against NZ last time they were out here- he got one in the first test but I think Martin got'em in the second!

That's the most one-eyed comment I've ever heard- he's twice the batsman punter is! There's never any pressure for Ponting coming in at 200-1, is there? Plus, those tracks in Aussie are a lot better to bat on than those in SA in recent times.

Even a batsman like Afridi can score runs if his team is at 500. I am definitely not comparing Ponting and Afridi but Ponting is hardly under any pressure. Maybe once in 20 matches.

He's scored it all in 5 tests though. I mean as if Kallis is a better bat than Punter.

  As against what , 10 , 20 , 30 tests ??    Kallis is a quality player , but his feats don't detract from Ponting's batting ability.

Actually, assuming my memory serves me correct, Kallis was on 72, was doing some shadow boxing and didn't see oram signal square leg to go back. Oram bowls a delivery right in the slot to hook, kallis obliges, and puts it right in deep backward squarelegs breadbasket for a simple catch. Tongue

I can't remember NZ , but there was great disappointment in this part of the world when he didn't get that 6th ton.

over 9000 runs and 220 wickets to his name. His name is definately one for the all rounder category.
Well done Kallis. I hope he keeps up his form as he's a pleasure to watch when batting. Can play nice aggressive shots but also is good on defensive strokes.

He's in form right now Tykey and that ton on Saturday was of the highest quality.  Pity the attack was Bondless though.

It's no joke to us Kiwi's, he's a massive asset in the OD form of the game. I sincerely hope Martin gets a run, as he was the pick of the NZ bowlers for me.

How can you say that bondy?

You have already stated it's time to give him the chop, bring in the youngsters because he is too injury prone.

Martin is the best of the seam attack , but he's expensive. I expect Gibbs to have a full go in the 1st ten , maybe Smith'll make a few for a change too!

I meant for test matches only- ODI's are a different ball-game in my head.

At recent times, Kallis is not using the power of his shoulders enough to launch the ball on the road out side the stadium. I'd never seen such cruel shots than his in my entire life. Aren't they beautiful?
