Resolution/Wish

Cricket’s New Year’s Resolution/Your Wish For 2008: For Yorkshire to win the County Championship and for more test cricket rather than loads of ODI's.

Resolution/Wish:

That the umpiries, namely those who were used in the Jan 2-5 SCG test match are given ample, practical ways in which technology will assist themselves in making the best decisions at crucial stages. Moreover, can we wish for the aid of technology to provide a platform that will enable the true outcome in all forms of the game.

 International Cricket

ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan:   Those pitches will draw some of the sting from the Aussies' attack and the subcontinental sides will fancy their chances. South Africa  can't be rules out either , but they always find a way of beating themselves. Add to that the loss of Pollock and  his metronomic bowling and I just can't see them having enough.  For me it'll be between Pakistan and India and I'll go for India's allround strength and experience to pull it off.

England v New Zealand   NZ will win the one day series , but it could be a close run thing.  The tests should see an England win , but the home side , even without Bond , will push them hard.  Harmison is under pressure to perform and Hoggard has to prove his fitness after injury. If the English attack functions anything up to their potential they should win the series 2-0 with a possible draw because of bad weather.

England v South Africa    This is the big one for me this year.  The South Africans haven't won a test series in England since 1965 and this year could break that hoodoo.  The youngsters ,Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel , are the  two men that can bring off a series win.  England have seen Steyn , but not the  new , potent version. Morkel is practically unknown and I see him taking a lot of wickets - maybe even more than Steyn as the English batsmen might think hi m a tad easier to play.  Kallis will be targetted , as will Pietersen - both will be crucial cogs if their respective sides are to win.  England have the edge at the top of the order , but the SA  lower order makes more runs.  The wicketkeeper issue could still be a major problem for the home side ,  it needs resolving before the end of the NZ series.
I'll take England to win 2-1 with the South Africans winning at Lords yet again!  Sidebottom and Panesar will do well.

County Champions:  It has to be Lancashire this year - just let it stop bloody raining !!

Players

International Player Of 2008:   Dale Steyn - the lad's going places.

Young Player To Watch: Morne Morkel and Alistair Cook  - both will  make headlines.

Resolution/Wish

Cricket’s New Year’s Resolution/Your Wish For 2008:   Less mouth on the field and more cricket.  More input from 3rd Umpires to cut down on the shockers , but only in tests and ODI's

Resolution/Wish

Cricket’s New Year’s Resolution/Your Wish For 2008: For (most not all) Indian supporters to grow up and accept decisions good or otherwise and realise that cricket does not revolve around the Indian cricket board or its supporters and also, everyone form the ICC board be terminated and they start from scratch with a new team who havent lost the plot and have only left the game relatively recently (no more than twenty years) so they can still be in touch with whats happening currently, and give the players and supporters what they are after. Good, fun, honest, tough and entertaining cricket..

Broad dosen't look the goods to me, not seen onions, as for the rest they have been in and out over the last few years, none performed consistantly. Surley there must be someone like sidebottom floating around, someone that has been perfoming for a while? The future looks pretty bleak otherwise.

Broad seem to me like one who looks for wickets, like trying things. However, the way he falls away on the foot when delivering can be dealt with and make him a much better bowler. Most, if not all the top class fast bowlers keep a bit more upright on the front leg.

There needs to be an injection of desire Chiefy and that's why Harmison should be left with the drinks tray.  I'm out of the loop really and half the names that Tykey has thrown up are complete strangers to me !  I've seen Onions and whilst raw , has some mongrel about him and I think that's what's required right now.
Let's see how this series pans out - if they lose (god forbid!) then I'll help with the blood-letting and it won't just be players getting slashed. If they draw , score runs and Sidebottom gets decent support in the attack , then the carnage shouldn't be too great. If they win , then bring on the smelling salts , because I won't be conscious!
Moores could well turn into the English equivalent of Buchanan - how scary is that ?

Predict for the things that aren't predictable as yet like the SA vs ENG upcoming series etc.

hmmmm well it is going to be a tough series considering what both sides are on papers, i guess whoever is hosting the series would be with advantage.

Come on South Africa! You've got this in the bag!

South Africa should win, I think. They've got alot of experience on their team. I think England will underestimate South African pace attack. I suppose Englands already used up all their good luck against New Zealand. It'll be one of those disapionting series for England, That they have every so often.%20%20%20

Sachin has had a very dodgy year, in fact quite terrible by his standards

Injuries aren't doing him any good either so yeah, quite dodgy indeed.
