Hi Guys,

I'm completely new here and wanted to ask some advise from some people wiser than I!

A bit about me...I used to play a lot of cricket from the ages of 10 - 13 and then less so at school from the age of 13 - 18 (where I played tennis non-stop!) and then nothing at all until two years ago when I lived in the caribbean (where I played in a tape ball league). I played my one and only league match this year and again have the cricket bug, but...it's the end of the season!!!

So my question is:

Where can I play cricket in London during the winter, either in a league or just net sessions on pay as you play basis?

All advice very gratefully recieved!

Well, I don't know anything about England but where in the Caribbean did you live?  I'm a Caribbean boy so.....

In troubled times, being philosophical helps a great deal, it helps you to remain sane and not do any further damage.

You probably won't find any real outdoor cricket over here in the winter, because it's generally just too cold and too wet (although it's like that in summer and it doesn't stop anyone). Most clubs however do winter nets at their local leisure center or school during every off season. Major cricket grounds like the oval and Lord's also have nets that you can book and play in with friends or with a coach and a bowling machine (although that's quite expensive).

My advice when you get here would be to find a local club and play in their nets sessions, it's not hard to find a club that do winter nets and it's quite cheap to turn up and play.

There are also quite a few indoor leagues over the winter if you prefer a bit of competition.

Plus many outdoor teams play indoor so you can move to outdoor play in April.
