Subject: We're Off - The JP Premier League
Date Posted: 01 March 2009 at 12:19pm
And we're off and running with the JPPL - the JP Premier League. I've finally brought everything together and the matches are underway.
These are the teams involved and the managers:
Surrey Sloggers: slogger Freuchie CCC: robbie Caribbean Blasters: Spin Wizard Melbourne Masters: bladescape Kolkata Knight Riders: dips_december Canterbury Crushers: NZ_Fast West Yorkshire Wildcats: The Tyke Blackpool: Monty Hyderabad Victors: sam_ahmed Perth Giants: mystery
Remember, when you're picking your team you can give each player an aggression rating (1-10) for bowling and batting, and an overall aggression rating for the team.
Also pick your opening bowlers, who you want to bowl and your wicket-keeper and what you want to do if you win the toss.
Home teams must decide on the pitch they prepare and have three options:
State of the pitch (1-5) Excellent -- Good -- Normal -- Worn -- Green Bounce (1-5) Very high - High - Normal - Lowish - Low Outfield (1-5) Very fast - fast - normal - slow - heavy
The money you have remaining, and the money you gain from attendances (remember, press releases help in getting more people into the ground) can be used for transfers with other managers, stadium expansion or relocation or buying other players which haven't been picked up.
I would also bookmark the following link as it has all the information from the sim: http://www.originalonion.com/cricketsim/pbmindex.htm - http://www.originalonion.com/cricketsim/pbmindex.htm
So without further ado, the headlines from the first round of fixtures (click the above link for scorecards, averages, fixtures, etc.):
THRILLER AT CHRISTCHURCH GOES DOWN TO THE WIRE
DRAVID ON SONG FOR THE KNIGHT RIDERS
PERTH UNDONE BY FREUCHIE'S AUSSIES
TENDULKAR BRILLIANT, MARTIN BETTER
MELBOURNE RELY ON ASIAN BATSMEN
I'll be sending PMs to managers with details of injuries in their squad and morale ahead of the second round of fixtures which are:
Blackpool v Kolkata Caribbean v Perth Freuchie v Canterbury Hyderabad v W Yorks Melbourne v Surrey

@ Slogger: I've fixed that now and it's working
@ bladescape: You can post them in this thread - I'll close the other one now as it's served its purpose.
For me, performance of that round was Freuchie hitting over 400 on a difficult pitch at Perth so well done them. Happy to have got everything going with (just about) everything in working order!
Aiming to get the next games done on Wednesday.

Going to need some deep thought about my next team....

Bladescape talked to a few of our reporters after the match:
"I'm happy with the team performance,Rashid,Nannes and Badri especially.
I always knew Rashid would perform and Badrinath had a bone to pick with the other managers who said the middle order was week.
Nannes surprised me with his excellent bowling.
Taibu didn't let us down behind the stumps either.
I've instructed the the groundsman to construct and excellent pitch and a very fast outfield with very high bounce to go with it.
Our team for the match looks something like this:
G.Smith
P.Hughes
F.Alam
S.Badrinath
Y.Singh
A.Rashid
T.Taibu
N.Bracken
D.Nannes
W.Parnell
M.Muralidaran
The only change is Parnell in for Siddle as we'll go for a all left arm pace attack.
Our batting should be allright on a batters pitch."

When reporters finally caught up with Canterbury owner NZF he had this to say: "I'm extremely proud of the lads. We knew it was going to be a tough game, and we perhaps didn't execute our plans quite as we wanted, but Bondy stepped up to the plate, and used his experience to ultimately pull off a tight win. I will probably look at changes for the next game, but I will have to wait and see once we arrive what the conditions hold."

Have you got a starting line up for us robbie?
yes the starting line up will be as follows
1. Simon Katich
2. Marcus Trescothick
3.Ramnaresh Sarwan(c)
4.Kumar Sangakarra(keeper)
5.Michael Clarke
6.Owais Shah
7.Yasir Arafat(b)
8.Graeme Swann(b)
9.Mark Davies(b)
10.Zaheer Khan(b)
11.Imran Tahir(b)
with the only change being Kallis out and Imran Tahir in
That is quite a big decision can you tell us the reasons behind it?
well we had a big debate at the selction meeting and we decided the pitch would favour spinners so we felt since he didn't perform as well as other the last round of games he would be the one to be pushed out. If it wasn't a spinners pitch he would definatly have stayed in the team.
So what are the pitch conditions for your meeting with Canterbury?
The pitch has high bounce(2) and a worn pitch(4) the outfield is pretty slow(4).
It was romoured that Trescothick's morale was low and that he would not be playing this game but you seem to have picked him.
yes we have talked to Marcus and he has agreed to play and he is feeling better now.
Have you got any news on agression levels of all the batsman?
the same as before but Imran Tahir level 3 and obviously Kallis is out so we wont need his. It is also worth noting we will be using the same opening bowlers this match.
Are you worried about Shane Bond?
well he took 9 wickets last match so obviously there is a thought into him but the pitch shouldn't favour him too much so that definatly helps

The Manager of Hyderabad Victors team was intervied after his teams narrow loss to canterbury, this is what he had to say:
Q) it must be dissapointing to have lost so narrowly?
S_A) well obviously every defeat is dissapointing and so is this but i'm still very happy with the way my boys have performed. i'd also want to congratulate canterbury team on a thrilling win... hopefully we'll have the result in our favour when they come here for the return game.
Q) what do you think was the main cause of your defeat?
S_A) well in a game as close as this you can never really say what changed the game but still i think we needed some good starts but failed to get them, so there was some extra pressure on the middle order.
Q) Any changes for the next game?
S_A) ya, salman has had an off day, so we've decided to leave him out and bring in the experienced michael vaughan to open up with amla. salman is a very important member of our side, but at the moment his morale is low so we'll just give him a game off so that he can get back in good touch and be up for it again.
Broad is unlucky to miss out. he will be replaced by shakib as the track will be conjutive to spin i believe later in the game.
Q)Your thoughts about your opponent?
S_A) Yorkshire have a number of new faces in their line up but still we are not under estimating their ability. they are a very good side and we'll have to be at our best to beat them. also if you observe blackpool was talked about as the strongest team prior to the first round but at the moment they are bottom of the table. so you can never predict things in this glorious game...
Thanks for your time sam... all the best for the next game...

Jaques Gibbs Ponting (vc) Hodge Prince Dhoni (wk, C) Ten doeschate (b) Munaf Patel (b) Panesar (b) Ntini (1) Bond (2)
Due to his busy schedule, NZF released this press statement via his public blog once again. "I've decided to stick with almost the same team, making just one change with Patel in for Sidebottom. Unfortunately Sids didn't really perform last game despite the bowler friendly conditions, so we decided to bring in Munaf who is more familier with this type of pitch condition. We decided against the extra spinner because it is not spin friendly enough to justify inclusion of another. We will use 6 aggression again, but with Ten doeschete using 4 aggression for his bowling and Prince using 5 aggression for his batting."

Right then I got my pc fixed. Had it virus infected. I'll go with the PM I sent you JP. Same team and the pitch will he hard and bouncy and the outfiled will be fast.
Bose : Conditions were ideal.
Bengal and KKR medium pacer spoke to the press after his briiliant display of hostile swing bowling.
Rep : That was a very good performance from you, are you happy with it? Bose : Yea I am pretty relieved. I played alongside some big names and bowled to some big names so I was pretty nervous at the start but Dada showed faith in me and I am glad I delivered.
Rep : The pitch was an ideal one for swing bowling wasn't it? Bose : Absolutely. The ball swung and moved and we had the perfect bowlers for the pitch. Vaasy, me and Jimmy are all swing bowlers and we bowled in the right places and bowled well.
Rep : How was it like bowling alongside Vaas? Bose : It was an excellent experience. Bowling alongside one of the greats of the game was a new experience for me. I enjoyed bowling alongside him.
He signed off.

Ajinkya Rahane A.L = 7
Malinda Warnapura A.L = 5
Heino Kuhn (Wk.) A.L = 6

Lonwabo Tsotsobe - 7 (Opens the Bowling)
David Wiese - 7 (Shares the New Ball)
James Hopes - 5
Saqlain Mushtaq - 6
David Wainwright - 6
If we win the Toss - Bowl
After defeat to Melbourne in the opening fixture of the JPPL, changes have been made to the side to face the Hyderabad Victors.
Left Arm Spinner David Wainwright is in the team at the expense of Matthew Hoggard, who had a highly ineffective first match.
On the batting side of things, the Wildcats have made 4 changes. Imraan Khan, Michael Carberry and Malinda Warnapura come into the lineup with Murray Goodwin, Ross Taylor and Jaques Rudolph all making way after below par performances. Ajinkya Rahane will bat at 4 and will be wary that he had a bad match last time out so must improve.

Bit of a balls up of a run chase really. I think my batsmen might be spending a bit of extra time in the nets this week!
|
Posted By: NZ_Fast
Date Posted: 05 March 2009 at 4:00am
How disappointed are you with this result? In one word, Very. Although it was a reasonable difficult pitch to bat on, we really did not step up and grind out the runs. Even after conceding a smallish first innings lead we knew we could still win with a bit determination, but we didn't utilize the conditions enough. In hindsight, the decision to only play one spinner.....? In hindsight would we play another spinner? No i don't think so, not against this team. We all believed monty would get the job done, but he really failed to utilize the conditions available to him, and he knows now he is under a lot of pressure to perform. The emergence of Munaf? He was always my 3rd choice seamer, but we went with Sids in the first game because the conditions suited his bowling style so much more. What changes are you looking at for the next game? I can't really say anything about that yet, the team and I are yet to have a proper debrief session but some changes are almost certain for the next game. People are talking about Dhoni's form, is it an issue? Any batsmen not performing is an issue, but we believe he will come right, and if he doesn't, Matty Prior is an excelent replacement. Shane Bond, people are worried if he breaks down your attack is almost toothless. Those people are wrong, Ntini and Patel are world class and Maharoof and Sids are very good backup. Don't forget we also have two classy spinners other than Panesar. Lastly, ten Doeschate, fans are worried he is out of his depth. Well i'm not surprised, he is untested at this level, however he has already shown he is well suited to this level, chipping in with wickets, and scoring a fifty on a green top in the first round.

dips_december : Series living upto the hype
KKR manager dips_december spoke to the media after a narrow victory against Blackpool.
Reporter : Are you happy with your performances in the two matches so far? dips : Yes I am pretty pleased. The results have gone our way so far and I am looking forward to seeing better performances in the upcoming matches. The results so far have been satisfactory.
Rep : The bowlers deserve special mention don't they? dips : Yea they have been fantastic but then again cricket is a team game. The batsmen have backed up the bowlers' performances which is why we have been successful.
Rep : How is the morale in the dressing room? dips : Winning always keeps you in high spirits. The dressing room morale is absolutely perfect. The players are full of confidence and are enjoying every aspect of the game.
Rep : What about the bench players? dips : Look you can only give 11 players a chance at a time. There are some quality players like Malik and Dinda who are warming the benches. They will all get a game and I am sure they will have their opportunities as well.
Rep : Brendan Nash has not looked in great touch so far. So is there any possibility of change? dips : Yea he has not done well so far and there are other players waiting in the fringes. We will have a meeting and find the best way out.
Rep : Sourav Ganguly has not played well either, is he under pressure to perform? dips : Look, Sourav has played 13 years of international cricket and we all know what he is capable of. No one should question his place in the team. He got some runs against Blackpool and its only a matter of time before he gets over his rustiness and gets back to the free flowing Ganguly we are used to seeing.
Rep : The league has finally got off to the much awaited start. Your views so far on the league and future expectations? dips : The series has certainly lived upto its hype. The players have done well and the standard of cricket has been brilliant. I am looking forward to seeing much more competitive matches and better performances from all the players.
Rep : No home games yet. Aren't you getting impatient? dips : Not really. The crowd in Kolkata will be eagerly waiting for it though. Home matches will mean much more fun, much more support and automatically much improved performances. Its important that we take one game at a time and not think too far ahead.
Rep : Thank You. dips : It was a pleasure.

The KKR management decided to drop Brendan Nash and bring in Shoaib Malik, the Pakistan all-rounder, in his place. There were some discussions made about de Villiers as well but he has been given another chance. Wriddhiman Saha will have to wait a bit longer it seems.
Team for match against Surrey.
Gautam Gambhir Alastair Cook Rahul Dravid (vc) David Hussey (6) Sourav Ganguly (c) (5) AB de Villiers (+) Shoaib Malik (7) Chaminda Vaas (1) Daniel Vettori (4) James Franklin (3) Ranadeb Bose (2)
I'd want Malik and Ganguly to bowl some overs JP. Ganguly has been long known as a partnership breaker.

oh yes, a very fine win!!! the fact that yorkshire had a lot of inexperienced players did helped our cause... i believe it was a mistake from yorkshire side to drop players like Goodwin, Taylor and Hoggard for this match, agreed they had a bad first match but considering the inexperience in the side i believe they must have played.

Press Release:
Steyn, Clark ecstatic after helping Caribbean Blasters to convert a first innings loss to a win.
Caribbean Blasters recorded a fine win from being behind on first innings and still stealing the show by 54 runs in the end. After being 91-6 in the first innings, Samaraweera - the man of many lives - cracked a magnificent 93 to lead his side to 247. The Giants eased pass it to get 319 where Steyn and Clark started their heroics with 4 and 3 wickets respectively.
After a good start by both openers, the Blasters were reduced to 174-8 but thanks to the tail and a top score of 57 from Dale Steyn, they managed 295. That gave the Giants a target of 223 and it was always going to be tough on a last innings pitch. Stuart Clark with his magnificent accuracy bagged 5 and when the Giants were 73-6, the game was heading in one direction, although the tail did give the Caribbean bowlers a few headaches.
The manager had a few words to say after the game, as he was preparing to head off with the lads to celebrate.
Reporter: How are you feeling?
SW: I'm feeling terrific. Obviously, we had a lot of headaches through out the game but in the end, we won, and that's what matters.
Reporter: Just exactly what headaches are you refering to?
SW: Well, apart from Samaraweera, the specialist batsmen failed and that's a major concern. The good news is, Shiv Chanders is back and ready so unfortunately, one of the batsmen will make way.
Reporter: Are you pleased with the bowling?
SW: Yes, I'm pleased with their effort although we need to not let the tail get loose like they did in this game.
Reporter: Any bowling changes next game?
SW: Well, I don't think so. It all depends on the conditions. I think we'll go with the same pace attack. Although Kartik only took two 2 wickets, the important thing is, he didn't leak much runs in either innings!
Reporter: Thanks a lot for time.
SW: No problem, cheers mate.

So how do you feel your last game against Canterbury went?
i thought it went very well we got a low first innings score but then bowled them out for 30 odd less with Imran Tahir being the star getting 4 wickets.Ialso think Sangakarra done very well it was a great hundred well supported by others.
Graeme Swann has came into criticism lately for poor bowling how do you plan to adress this?

What I didn't realise untll I sent everybody their PMs was that Melbourne and Freuchie meet in the next round so unless the two teams draw (and given that the sim takes out weather interruptions this is unlikely) then by next week only one team will remain unbeaten.
Unluckiest team of the week is West Yorkshire who have been hit by four injuries as they prepare to take on third from bottom Caribbean Blasters.

You've been really unlucky Sam, I thought you were going to make it - that last wicket stand in the first innings really turned the game for Melbourne.
Just a reminder folks, I can't determine what the AI does with bowlers after the openers, so much as you'd like certain players to bowl third, fourth, fifth etc., I can't do anything. Just let me know who you don't want to bowl though.
And another thing, there's no option to select a captain, just in case you thought it made any difference.

one question JP, how is the winner of the competition decided? is it the team with highest points after the end of all rounds, or do we have a face off between the top two for the finals, or face off among top 4 in the semis and then the finals?

Reporter Jeremy Coney caught up with Canterbury Crushers owner NZF the following morning. You must be pleased with this result? Oh yes, we needed to have a big win against a lower ranked team and we achieved it. We stuck to our plans much better this time, and ultimately this showed. The decision to play two spinnners? Well we knew the pitch would turn, the difficulty was whether it was going to offer enough to the spinners, and in the end we decided it would But, we decided to include the extra spinner also because it wasn't the easiest pitch to bat on and thought we might need a bit of extra batting depth which Chawla provided. Why drop Ntini and not Patel? Why?, well Patel executed the plans much better last game and looked the more threatening, and with it being quite a bouncy pitch, it would be difficult for Ntini to bowl a good length when he bowls back-of-a-lenth anyway. ten Doeschate moved up a spot, what was the idea behind that? With Dhoni out of form we thought it was perhaps better to swap them around. It didn't work in the first innings, but, as you can see, it definitely did in the 2nd innings, scoring a super ton!. That raises an interesting point, Dhoni's form has been for want of a stronger word, poor, how long can the team carry him? Well, he is the first to admit he has been underperforming with the bat, although he cannot really be faulted behind the stumps. I've had a chat to him and he says he feels good, and we talked about maybe giving him a break for the next game, just so he can get over a couple of niggles that hes carrying. It must be a relief to see Ponting in the runs? Yes it was good to see him get a few, again hes always looked good, and says he has felt good but its just about applying himself a bit more at the crease. Looking to the next game, any definite changes planned? I really can't say at this stage, we don't have any injuries so theres no forced changes, but we'll have to wait and see once we arrive what the conditions hold. Cheers for that NZF, catch you when you get back from the next game. No worries, I look forward to telling you about our latest win then :)

Ganguly : We were outplayed.
A visibly depressed KKR captain, Sourav Ganguly spoke to the media after their loss against Surrey.
Reporter : Your comments on the loss? Sourav : Well we couldn't do anything more. we gave our 100 percent but on the day, they played the better cricket. Chaing 352 in the 4th innings is never easy. I think they outplayed us.
Reporter : Your own form has been a bit dissappoinitng too, that's a cause of concern too. Sourav : Yes, I know that. I am working hard at the nets but somehow the hard work is notpaying off. I am hopeful of getting some runs at home.
Reporter : Finally after 3 games you get to play at the Eden, are the boys excited about thtat? Sourav : Yes they are, they are upbeat and confident about performing well at the Eden. We hope to play a good game of cricket over there and also make it a memorable match for the fans.
Reporter : Any likely changes? Sourav : Well at the moment AB's out with an injury so Wriddhi will be keeping for the next game. Parmar too has a strong chance of making it to the team alongside Vettori.
Reporter : What about the pitch? Sourav : Well I hope it will be a good wicket. It will be elpful for both bowlers and batsmen.
Reporter : All the best. Sourav : Cheers, thanks mate.

Press Release:
The Caribbean Blasters go into their fourth game of the season looking for a win, after losing two of the first three games. Their manager Spin Wizard wasn't in such a good mood but he pointed out that the batsmen failed miserably and he hopes that the batting conditions for this game should be some sort of revival to their confidence. He also pointed out that if the batting fails again, he'd have no choice but to head out and look for some new blood.

Freuchie aftergame press release.
So Robbie you are now the only unbeaten team in the league how does that feel?
well to be honest it feels great although i have to admit i did think we had the best squad and would do very well
So about the game what did you think off Sarwans performance considering he was under pressure?
well i though Sarwan as captain played some very important innings both the 41 and 49 he was very unlucky to be run out and i think he could have made alot more. the wicket just topped it off 1 wicket in 1 ball.
And Trescothick
I would say Trescothick was under the most pressure he had been very poor and needed that 50 to get some confidence back.
You have some very good pace bowlers with the highest average being 20.74 do you think they can continue this throughout the season?
well i dont see why not they are definatly the reason we find ourselves in this position nut thats not to take anything away from the batsman i mean we have had some sensational innings especially from Katich.
Some people have been saying Gul deserves a chance what are your views on this?
well how can he get in the team we have 3 pace bowlers who are doing amazing and it will be very hard for him to get into the team.
So what are you going to do for the next match Owais is back and McCullum just hit 72?
well it depends on the pitch but if any of them are willing to open both could be playing.

Press Release:
Caribbean Blasters' manager was stunned for words as his side pulled off a massive victory against the Wild Cats. Who knows, maybe his threat of signing a new player if the batting failed this time did the trick. The manager said that he will hold back on a new signing of a batsman but he's not ruling out that of another bowler.
Bladescape, can you please name conditions. The Windward Islands is in St. Vincent and they're schedule to take on Combined Campuses and Colleges from Friday and I'm thinking of going so if I do go, I'll be away from Friday and Saturday plus I have a 2020 game Sunday which means I'll be away for 3 days from the computer. You have got to be pleased with that result? Of course I am. I told the boys that once we got into a good position we couldn't let it slip, any team is capable of fighting back. Jaques set us up brilliantly and the bowlers did a great job. You made a few changes for this game, why was that? We wanted to give other players an opportunity to prove themselves, as well as see how other players responded when they were given more responsibility. Prior certainly took his chance, as did Harris and they have been rewarded. Patel stepped up when he was asked to spearhead the attack while Bond was rested. So it was a conscious decision to rest Bond? Ah, yes it was. Hes been bowling beautifully, but hes had a few overs now and we felt it was time for a rest, and without taking anything away from the opposition, we felt we could take that chance against this team. You mentioned it earlier, but Harris and Prior certainly performed well didn't they? I'm very proud of them, they've both been itching to play and as the scorecard shows they both made vital contributions, and secured their spots for the next couple of games at least. Is Gibbs a bit of a worry at the top of the order? I wouldnt call him a worry, he has had a couple of good innings, just failing to kick on. He should come right in the end. Any injury worries for the next round? Brad Hodge has been ruled out for this game, buts its more just resting a niggle before it becomes serious. It also provides him a good opportunity to have a chat with the batting coach and see if he's picked up anything. Whos replacing Hodge then? We've called up Jesse Ryder for this game, its the sort of pitch he will enjoy and he should fit into the set up nicely. This game is obviously a step up in terms of quality of opposition are you worried the players might become a little complacent after the last game? First of all, every team is very strong so I don't consider any one team to be hugely better than the other, despite what the table says. And no I'm not worried about the team becoming complacent, we've already had one loss, and we don't really want another so early on. Who are Kolkatas biggest threats to you? The whole team really, they bat right the way through nearly and their bowling attack will more than keep you honest even if it lacks superstars. Lastly, whats your prediction for the game? A resonable close game. If I had to say, I'd say a win by 50 runs, or 3-4 wickets.

Latest from the Caribbean Blaster's manager is that he might have to change his mind about the non signing of a next batsman. This has forced us into a tough spot as well as making a lot of shifts in the batting line up"

Press Release
Ganguly : Time for me to get some runs.
The KKR captain Sourav Ganguly said that it was time that he scored runs or else he himself would consider taking a break for the well-being of the team.
Reporter : Another narrow win, you people seem to be getting into the habit of winning or losing close games? Sourav : close games are always thrilling for the spectators although the game was a bit too close for us. Luckily we won. You don't complain as long as the results go your way.
Reporter : Do you think all your players have played to their potentials? Sourav : No. We have played well together as a team but its time me, Dave and Gauti start getting some big runs. We are yet to get a big dcore and its about time we get one.
Reporter : There is Akash Chopra, Jaffer, Malik and Nash still waiting. When do they get a chance? Sourav : We are looking at our options. We might give some of them a rest and try out our bench strength. Akash, Ashok and Malik have a strong chance of playing the next game but we must not chop and chance a winning combination too much.
Reporter : Rahul Dravid has once again been your backbone in the batting order. Your comment on his form? Sourav : Form is temporary and class is permanent. We all know Rahul is a class player and his record speaks for him. Many people questioned his place when he was going through a tough time but he has silenced his critics yet again. He is just a brilliant player and I am glad that I have him. Thanks

Press Release:
FREUCHIE WILL BE TESTED
After the 2nd straight loss of Hyderabad victors in the JPPL the manager of the team Mr. sam_ahmed looked dissapointed but said his team is eagerly waiting to have a go at Freuchie CCC, the only unbeated team in the competition. "this match couldn't have come at a better time, we have our backs to the wall and are raring to go, we've got nothing to lose and the pressure will be on freuchie to defend their winning streak", he was quoted as saying.
Hyderabad Victors have to be the unluckiest team in the competition losing two of the matches by less than 10 runs before losing heavily by an innings to the surrey sloggers. " we had a bad day, this is bound to happen to every team and we are not reading too much into it. we have a home game next against Freuchie and we are all geared up for that" Jayawardene, the captain of the team said confidently in the press conference.
it is expected that Hyderabad will go in with a sharply turning surface and may even think of playing 3 spinners. however the final decision will be taken by tomorrow. looks like the honeymoon is over for freuchie and they will have to play out of their skins to pull one off against hyderabad on what is expected to be a dust bowl.

We caught up to the Melbourne manager today and this is what he had to say:
I'm a bit dissappointed in the match, after the first two innings we were evenly balanced and we really should have given them a hard chase for it,but their second innings put them in an unbeatable position.
This match Fawad Alam returns to the side instead of Rohrer with Parnell replacing Siddle.
Our team:
G.Smith(c)
P.Hughes
F.Alam
S.Badrinath
Y.Singh
A.Rashid(b)
T.Taibu(wk)
N.Bracken(b1)
D.Nannes(b)
M.Muralidaran(b)
W.Parnell(b2)
I think we have a good chance of winning at the MCG in the next match against an injury struck Carribian Blasters, who are missing their star batsman,Chanderpaul.
------------- You know, I'm trying to decide whether to change my siggy or not...

Time for a Very Very Special Innings:
The spin trio of Bhajji, Shakib and Price is not the only thing to look out for in sundays's game against Freuchie, the local crowd is eager to see a very very special innings from their boy VVS Laxman. Having had a quiet tournament so far Laxman is all set to bat at his regular position of No.6 tomorrow and is keen to make an impact. "we've got our backs against the wall and it's high time our senior players like Mahela and VVS rise to the occasion. I'm pinning big hopes on VVS, he is due for something big and he likes to do it against the toughest of opponenets, we saw him do it time and again against Australia, now it's time to do it against Freuchie." Team Owner, sam_ahmed was quoted as saying.
well, it won't be just sam but the whole of hyderabad and India that'll want to see a very very special knock from a very very special man!

You've completed another big win, what's going through your mind right now? I'm stunned, both teams were very evenly matched, and to win by such a big margin, well i have to say i am very proud of the boys. I know that's something i say often, but why not, they put in a solid effort. Do you think you have finally settled on a permanent no.4? I can't say that, Jesse has earned himself another couple of games in that spot, but both Hodge and Misbah are waiting in the wings. He has the opportunity to make the spot his own though and I believe he will. Is the opposition still underrating Ryan? I believe so yes. I think they feel that his current performances are just beginner luck and that he will get found out soon enough. This is far from the truth though, he has really stepped up to the plate with his batting with a few critical innings already and looks very comfortable. His bowling continues to nick out high calibre batsmen. Bond & Patel, what a combo right? Absolutely. They make a great pair and are really showing the way for the rest of the attack. The next round, you meet the Giants away, any concerns? No not really. We've performed better than them so far and theres little reason we shouldn't continue to do so. They are no pushovers though. Their bowling attack is quite strong and given the right track, could cause some havoc and really put pressure on us....but, I'm confident this won't occur. Back to the latest game, any other comments you would like to make? I'd like to congratulate Bose on a wonderful bowling effort for Kolkata. Obviously it wasn't enough to stop us pulling off a win, but a fantastic piece of individual brilliance non the less.

Another disappointing loss. Wright and Saha were fairly unsuccessful but Bose has been my key bowler. He s doing a fantastic job.

The sim has decided to screw me, and I can't help it, this is the third time that I have lost so narrowly... this time by 1 wicket. Had it been me i'd have fallen 2-3 runs short bur freuchie got through... DAMN!!!
