Subject: My Cricket Sim
Date Posted: 03 October 2009 at 10:50am
Some may notice my stoppage in the CW XI sim, that is because I was setting up a sim.(Like team sim instead of player sim).
It is somewhat similar to JP's.(You can sue me afterwards! )
I.E.You can choose where-ever you want as your home base.(However, you don't get a star player from your home,so you can have a team based in the USA!)

I'm going to use a draft method rather then the auction type used by JP.

You set the pitch by choosing 1 or 10 or anything inbetween, like so:
Pace:5
Bounce:5
Spin:5

10 means hard for batters, and 1 easy, the bowlers will benifit differently depending on the combonation.
There'll be a pool to choose from soon, but I'm still compiling it.

I'm in too Blade.

My team name will be same as Hyderabad Victors (as was in JP's SIM) My Ground will be Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium based in Hyderabad, India.

But let me know if in this case I'll not be able to pick players from India?

How do we select a team?

As in JP's sim, no limit to foriegn or non players.

After all the teams are named and given a stadium,we're then going to have a draft to make the teams.

It'll be simple Milks, we select a squad of players and the fixtures will be decided by Blade. He'll simulate all the matches depending upon the playing eleven that we select for each game. I believe in home games we can decide what type of pitch, outfield etc we want. After each game is done, blade will put up the score cards and results.

JP did a wonderful job with his Sim earlier, I'm expecting the same from blade!

Read JP's sim http://www.cricketworld.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=4846 - here .

The main differences is I'm using a draft instead of an auction, and I'm using a different sim.

The overall game should end up taking a few months.
You should know how a draft is done, once that is done, you just need to post a team, and who will bowl.
I could take upto a week to get a round done, but I'm hoping for about 2 rounds per week.

I roll a dice to decide who picks a player in what order.

Example:
First round:
1.Raj
2.Milky
3.Sam
4.Spin

And then the next round everone moves up and the top person goes to the bottom:
1.Milky
2.Sam
3.Spin
4.Raj

Understand?(the example isn't the actual order I'm doing it in,after all, what about the other players? )

It means that first Milkman will choose a player then Zuhair , both of them will post 1 player in post, then I will have to do it and then others continue it.

So all this excersise how long will it take , Is it like 1 player selected by each team every day ? I am asking this coz I want to know the how much I need to be active on this site.

Maybe our friend Raj is shell shocked on all IPL teams out of the CL. But we did see Modi with to blackberrys in IPL and CL - did we not?

Haha! Yes! But Blackberries use the mobile data network not the national broadband or cable lines. Anyway, I think Mystery's team name is fitting - IPL Killers! Although perhaps it's fair to say that the IPL teams committed suicide!

wow, superb pick Zuhair... the best in the business is in your team!!! Now thats what I call sensible selection, no biasedness, nationaliy not an issue! one reason why I so often get so close but still not win these fantasy games is because I'll always have my favourite players in my team! Unhappy

If cricket was a religion - Sachin has to be one of the god's Sam. He is one player who is loved everywhere in Pakistan (not the case with many other Indian greats i must admit.)It is also to do with the humble person he is other than being a great at the game.

Just like Imran was loved all over South Asia. Javed Miandad on the other hand...

Miandad was to Indians what Gavaskar was to Pakistanis.

But Imran probably was loved more because of the aura he had about him and the personality he was. but Sachin's case is a bit different. He has zero arrogance for a player of his class and is such a down to earth person. I remember being in a one day game at Karachi - where the capacity ground was all shouting Sachin Sachin in chorus - he went on to score 98 though.

Miandad and Gavaskar are both highly unliked here in Australia!! Gavaskar is a blatant racist and Miandad is just one of those obnoxious characters that gets on everyone's nerves, like Harbhajan.

Miandad was disliked by most of his opponents - he was termed a street fighter. But certainly I must say you have to find a better comparison than Harbhajan.

That's what people here compare him to. I have to say , personally, that Sunil Gavaskar is much worse. Read any of that rubbish he writes and listen to his commentary. A white man can never do anything right in his opinion.

We Pakistanis are by no means white Milks - but we are as bad as any white man is in his books.

That's one example , but yes he doesn't like Pakis either. He called Proctor a racist because he sent that ban down on Singh, despite the fact that Proctor was a leading anti apartheid advocate. Some of the things he accuses the 'white' countries like Australia , SA, England, NZ of is basically reverse racism. When he commentates I put my television on mute.

I know milks you are a wonderful person and by no streach of imagination you could be racist. You should not be using the word Pakis, the term is also considered as racist.

We live in a multicultural, multiethnic enviormnet and it is really hard to know what terms are reffered as racist.Even I did not know about it.It is always better to know than land in trouble.

EDIT: Please consider this as an information and do not derive any other meaning out of this.

Paki is not racist. The suffix -stan simply means land of, with Paki meaning 'Pure'. I don't understand how that is racist. Please enlighten me.
