Which number do you prefer to bat from?  I am an opener, but i am one of the top 2 batsman of our team with alot of young players this year, we only got like 3 batting specialist with others all, allrounders, i am thinking of holding back my self to perhaps 2nd or 3rd down, but the other top batsman, who is also my captain has cemented 2nd down.  But i am kinda agressive too,

any suggestions where i should bat from.  I wouldnt mind 1st down, but our team gets our so early, that 1st down is just like an opening position.

It's a bit difficult, as obviously we've never seen you play. Obviously the better your technique, the higher up you should bat.

Yea, I agree with JP. The better your technique, the higher up you should bat. If you are good at anchoring the batting, go in at 4 down.

dont you guys think best batsman are to come in the middle, rather than open.  india has dravid, sachin is an exception since india has too many stars. SL got sangakarra and jayawardena in the middle, pakistan's got youhana, inzi and aussies, ricky at 1st down. lara at 2nd.

That's what I'm saying...sort of. If you're the anchor of the batting, then go in at 4 down.

I like that position too because sometimes I'm in the mood of slogging so I like to go in and just beat the heck out of all the bowlers.

my team gets out quick too and i come in first drop, all lot of the time im in first over its tough but youve just gota do it and last week i asked if i could bat 4 and i scored 67 so ask your caiptain if you could have a go and if it works maybe you could cement your spot where you want

yeh thats what i am thinking of, but my captain bats at #4, so i am thinking of #5, which is still not bat, given the fact we dont play international, so by the time i come in at #5 , it would still be like the 15th-20th over.

I see. Well, here in Canada, because of the extremely harsh, snowy, and cold weather, there is only indoor cricket going on these days. I'm officially in my indoor school cricket team. I am so proud of myself.

So you're a consistent batsman, and you are the anchor of your team's batting line up?

I would say I am consistent, but the capt is the anchor.  I am right now the 2nd best in the team.

That's cool. I am the worst player on the team, but then I am also 1 year younger then all of the others who have already been coached for a year. All of the others are in Grade 10 and I am the only Grade 9 on the team. My fielding is good but I need to make my stimulus response faster. My bowling is good but it takes me about 6 balls to warm-up. My batting is the thing that needs work. Whenever I get frustrated I just slog the ball and hit it in the air and it hits the cieling of the gym, and I am out.

lol....wel I open for my team......we play 25 overs coz after that it really gets out of control and tiring.

we play in the sharjah cricket stadium which is really good for batting....so I go up and open for my team....i've done really good at an average of 45 runs....anyway if u bat aggressive then go and open  the innings (due to fielding restrictions) but if you like to take your time come one or two down..or even four like Saad said!

I bat 3-5. Im solid, im not going to give my wicket away, so i stop any collapse and get partnerships going

I can anchor the batting but only in outdoors. In indoors, I am too aggressive.

I love to open the innings, if i get a chance, and stay at the wichet till last man is down. But this rarely happens, at least for me.

I too love to open the innings like I mentioned before!!! Its so cool coming out of the dressing room and marching to the pitch with ppeople cheering!!! Unless I fail, I normally impress my home crowd....I used to bat right, but since I tried left, I've become another Saeed Anwar or Salman Butt, never got out on anything lower than 33. Its a record.....

Its kinda hard 2 be a consistent slogger man if u can go out dere and smash da ball every inings then ur really good.

I bat number 5 and 6 cause i tend to slog the ball around da ground for bout 2 overs and make bout 20 runs then get out. dis is probably y i bat quite low

I like to anchor as well. I can play well under pressure and can play pretty fast.

People think i feel pressure as i block everything. I think it puts the bowler under pressure cos hes not getting me out!

I think it's all about where you feel comfortable, and how many runs you make in that position. I love opening the batting, I average 47.32 batting at number 2, at number 3, I average around about 42.12. So, I'm not kind of sure where I like to bat. I can bat under pressure sometimes. I had to bat at number 7 one time, our team was 7-24 at one stage! I made 52 at number 7, and ressurected the innings. My average is 57.65. It dropped from 68 because I had to bat at 4 last Saturday, and I got out for 18.

Yea, it's pretty frustating for a bowler if he can't get you out with anything or even intimidate you.
