Kookaburra Kahuna and the beast are top notch.  SG has a nice range too, my buddy has Sunny Tonny and its so damn cheap for a 1st grade bat, so light and thick edges.

I've used MRF blazer great bat along with MRF Genius, thick edges, very light, alot of meat in the middle but pricey due to its brand name.

I think SG gets you value for your money where as MRF and Kookaburra make great bats but pricey.  I also read alot of articles where its proved most bats are made in the factories in india, by the same people, except the stickers are put on em.  So if thats true, why pay for a brand name.

I think JP can comment more on the fact most bats are made in india.

Hmmmmm a sunny tonny is £114. Not bad if its good but i think i may go with the SXI's used by collingwood and bell, but after seeing one smash in half against Pakistan i doubt there quality

Im getting a Puma Balistic 5000y,its the one Geraint Jones has been using in the Pakistan series and the last Ashes Test,Gilchrist will be using it in 2006 i think.

How about SS bats ? I like to use lighter bats but they are very hard to find. Are there any 2lb bats ? I see most of them are 2.5lbs to 3lbs heavy.

2lb would be too light i think. Also which bat does Afridi use?

Yo,

I have a GM maxi 606 and i reckon its a decent bat i hit my highest score last season with it, 26, (please bear in mind i am a bowler not a batsmen). However i think the woodworm torch is great, nice strong bat.

i have two bats : woodworm torch and the puma xbow.  both are great bats.  the only falt is that the woodworm broke first time i used it in a match. you need to knock it in true before using it. both could easily hit you an easy ton.

Ponting uses a bradbury. I can garuntee it. Flintoff uses a Hunts County, Ramnaresh Sarwan uses a fusion, Vaughn uses some indian thing, piterson uses an ss, jones uses a salix, collingwood doesnt use a slazenger, clarke uses a bradbury, the list is endless. The big companies that you all know arent all that good. The pros turn to these other companies but are offered lots of money for there stickers to be on the bats

Selecting a Bradbury cricket bat has become a very simple process given the shape and profile of Paul Bradbury's masterpieces. He knows the Sterling shape is the ultimate in bat design because of how many top international cricketers use this very bat made by Paul. Indeed many of the big brand bat companies have also unashamedly replicated them and as such, become their best sellers. These companies have got the shapes from bats presented to them by their sponsored players, who have in the past, had years of using the Bradbury bats stickered up to meet their contractual obligations.

I personally havent used the fusion bat cricko is suggesting but one thing that i agree with is that most players use custom made bats with sponsor stickers.

A perfect example is Sacin Tendulkar, who has MRF which is a tire companies logo.

'Sup guys.

There's no point arguing about what bats international players actually use, It doesn't matter. The fact is; Cricket, like most sports is dominated by money, players will do whatever they have to do get the most money or the most free stuff.

Having said that... I am the proud owner of a Kookaburra Kahuna Tornado. This is just like the top of the line Kahuna but instead of having the carbon graphite at the back it has black paint. Doesn't really matter to me as I dont play at a top level but it is still a really good bat that I would happily recommend to anyone looking for a new bat.

It cost me $285 Australian so I'm not sure how many pounds that is.

Hope my advice helps.

Scotty.

Hey Snell! congrats on the new bat. A top choice and only 100 pounds.

Should be a good bat to play with. As I have said previously; Kookaburra make good bats that last a long time and play very well.

Good Luck in your future batting experinces.

I think Kookaburra (and all the other "big name" brands) are seriously over priced. Take the Diablo Fury - it has an RRP of £125.00 but is only Grade 2 willow. You can get the absolute best Grade 1 willow bat for that if you look at any of the Indian or Pakistan makes.

People only buy the brands they see players using on TV, which is ironic considering in a lot of cases the player will be using another make of bat entirely, but simply have his bat sponsor's stickers on it.

About 2 seasons ago i purchased a MB Malik Supreme and once knocked in and oiled is probably one of the better bats in my club. The middle is really good, the edges are thick and it has a little bit of weight for those who like a bit of a swing. I would recommend MB Malik anytime. Afridi uses one or at least it might be one

Hey Charliemacko,

I have a couple of questions about your bat.

1.How much was it?

2.Do they ship overseas?

Thanks

hi scotty, as I am a sponsored fusion player i cannot tell you how much i payed for my bat, neither can cricko or warne in the making. But i think it should cost a non sponsored player around 160 pounds which itself is great value as other companies are charging 250+ for this kind of bat. However i feel that if you email or phone Bill he is more likely than not able to offer you some kind of discount just as long as you are a good ambassador of his fusion gear. yes the bat can be shipped abroad, but obviously the price for postage increases dramatically i think to europe its 22 pounds and the rest of the world 30 odd pounds, dont quote me on that ask bill.  If you chose a fusion bat you will not be dissappointed i can tell you that! Fusion have never had anything but positive reviews.

I hope you chose fusion
