The Bangladesh Cricket Board has said it will complaint to the Asian Cricket Council about an incident in the final over of Bangladesh's chase in the http://www.espncricinfo.com/asia-cup-2012/engine/match/535800.html - Asia Cup final against Pakistan. The incident, during the first ball of the 50th over, involved a collision between the bowler Aizaz Cheema and Mahmudullah as the latter tried to come back for a second run - something the BCB claims the Pakistan bowler did deliberately.

"We have seen video footage of the incident repeatedly. It is clear that Cheema blocked Mahmudullah deliberately," Enayet Hossain Siraj, the chairman of the BCB cricket operations committee, told reporters in Dhaka. "We will lodge a written appeal with the ACC very soon and will also give a copy to the ICC."

Law 37 of the rules of cricket sanctions a strict penalty for the fielding team if a fielder is found by the umpire to deliberately obstruct a batsman while attempting a run. Neither batsman can be dismissed (if a run-out has taken place), five penalty runs are awarded to the batting side, the delivery will not count as one in the over, the run will count even if the batsmen haven't crossed and the batsmen can choose which of them faces the next delivery. Whether or not there was intent behind the collision is for the umpire to determine; in this case, after the players had collided, the umpire Steve Davis was seen having a word with both players. The delivery yielded a single.

Bangladesh needed nine to win at the start of the 50th over, they lost by two runs. Had Pakistan been penalised, Bangladesh's task of chasing down 237 for a win would have been made significantly easier.

All my respect for BD has been lost and i think this is all becuz they dont want to come to Pakistan and its becuz of pressure coming from somewhere to not tour Pakistan.

After I read the incident I had a re look at the final over. Hmm ....

The ball had gone to 3rd man, Cheema was looking/heading back straight into Riyad's direction when he bumped on him .... Which has caused all this confusion. ( I mean Riyad was at non striker end i.e after completing the 1st run and was turning back for the second one ).

From the video it is not conclusive that Cheema's action were intentional, maybe Cheema was looking at Riyad just to see if he was planning to take the second one and froze for a moment on the ocassion and did not realise to get out of the way even after seeing him go for second one.

Mabye a bird eye view video will show more light, from the videos available on net nothing can be inferred.

Unfortunate that such a wonderful match is marred with some sort of controversy, I hope none of the actions were intentional.

BCB should have been more considerate that such things happen in heated nail biters where things might look ugly , but none of the players actually try to cheat ... or maybe they have seen something that was not available to normal TV viewers.

Unfortunately a sad episode if this get dirty.

If it was absolutely clear that Cheema had deliberately interfered, then I could understand this challenge, although I would have heavily advised against the challenge if I was in the position of giving advice to BD.

With success comes times of loss, BD have to make sure they don't become sore losers. They won a lot of fans, but equally would have lost many more.

Just out of curiosity , the game rules are so strange. A batman intentionally running across to avoid a direct hit is gleefully accepted .... Truly a batsman's game!

The rule is gone now if now batsman try to intentionally run across to avoid a direct hit he will be given out and i think Pakistan should also appeal as Mortaza did the same thing when Afridi was batting which was far more clear and there was never a 2 in that which BCB is crying for.

Correct Mystery, that rule is now gone Raj. ICC changed the rules regarding batsmen running across towards the ball to avoid the stumps being hit , now it can be given out as 'obstructing the field' if the bowling side appeals and the umpires deem any sort of interference.

It was really disappointing. I have really expected Bangladesh to win but cricket is  kind of game where we cannot predict more. I think Bangladesh will make it next time
