I felt compelled to make this thread after seeing that my beloved Leicestershire lost wickets to the first 2 deliveries of their new season!

Indeed, the entire top 3 scored ducks, so I hope this is not a portent of how this season will shape up.

Philander takes another 5 wicket haul for Somerset. This guy is unstoppable.

Despite their catastrophic start to the match, Leics have won their match against Glamorgan well inside 3 days - 12 wickets on debut for Robbie Joseph who will be a useful signing if he stays fit - it's only a few years since he was being spoken of as a potential England player.

Nice win Clobs after such an inauspicious start !  Thet start to the season just gets earlier and earlier - they'll have boxing day tests at Lords next !

It's probably as well they started last week as I don't think they would have seen much action this week with the state of the weather

Mark Ramprakash bagged a pair today - only his second in the Championship (to go with a really painful one for England) in a 26 year career.

One of those ludicrous declaration bowling scenarios going on in the Leics v Essex match, where Leics have scored 148 off the 7.3 overs bowled  today - Ned Eckersley made 70 not out off 19 balls and Wayne White 50 not out off 12.

Daft cricket Clobs , am I right in saying that the silly scores when trying to force a declaration aren't accepted in the record books ?

yes mate, they don't count in the records - Mark Pettini made 100 off about 26 balls at Grace Road the other year, but thankfully they never include those sorts of things in the fastest scoring records.
