I was just wondering if you good people had any advice for me. I've been playing a few years, had only one bat so far, my lovely GM Maxi 606, which was alright, but nothing special. Now that's conked out i've been readin up on bats. I was considering a GM Duellist 909, but when i saw the Warsop bats, Butterfly, Superior and Peerless, i realised how much better value for money they are.

Basically i'm asking, is it better to get a cheaper, and from what i've heard better, handmade bat. Or a brand name, mass produced bat for, probably, quite a bit more money?

Go to the bat shops and everything and find a bat that is perfect for you. We can suggest many bats but at the end, you must choose the bat that is perfect for you.

I've looked at mass produced bats, none of them really seem to catch my eye...that are in my price range anyway!

Thanks, i think i'll 'Warne in Making' and go for  a cheaper handmade bat.

Yea, that's a good idea. Get a custom made bat.

Yeh, custom made bats are cool. But in the end I would defin. prefer the kookaburra. During practice I use the Kookaburra as well as the MB MAlik Sher, thats a tough one to go through!

They both give you the feeling of a true bat and a real live cricket situation!

In the end its your chioice but try your best not to forget the KOOKABURRA!!!

Hi Everyone,

I myself was looking for a new bat for the 2006 season and didn't really know where to look so tried many different bats in the nets from Grays to Newbery.

(Generally Newbery were very well balanced whilst Puma gave more meat to the bat - I wasn't very impressed by Grays or Kookaburra this season)

I was going to buy a Newbery when I stumbled upon an up and coming bat maker called Fusion Sports. What caught my eye was the absolutely MASSIVE middle these bats seemed to have, I was a bit dubious as to how heavy they might be but thought i'd give them a ring.

After calling to enquire further I found that I was speaking to their directer James who was incredibly helpful and very knowledgable about cricket. He made me a personalised bat that picks up at 2/9 but weighs at 2/12, quite simply this bat is INCREDIBLE!

The blade is perfect with 7 straight unblemished grains whilst the profile is HUGE, I can say with all honesty that I have never owned such a well balanced bat, nor one which is quite so meaty!

I look forward to a long and successful season with my Fusion, I would never go back to anything else!!

The constant ads for Fusion are getting somewhat wearing

Hi Clobber,

The forum is advice for people buying a bat...I was sold on Newberry before I bought a Fusion - It's just my advice nothing more!

It is a personal preference buying a bat but in my mind I am dead chuffed with my fusion.

Everyone should make their own mind up. :-)

Daivd, how much did you pay for your Fusion?

Hi Clobber,

I paid £156 for my Fusion, that included delivery.

I only play club cricket so I don't get sponsorships or discounts.

I genuinely believe this bat is quality...my newbery mjolnir is also pretty nice as well though! - The fusion is just massive whilst remaining very light - never really had a bat like it!

Hope that helps,

Dave

Go and buy a BDM Sting. It isn't pre-knocked in, or oiled, you might want to knock the bat in for atleast 6 hours all up (you don't have to do it all at once). Oil it, or buy an extratec sheet. It has nine grains. The bat is just so great! It's got incredible meat, nice pickup, long handle, it's just great. I've managed lots of runs from it this season, very good.

Go and have a look at as many bats as possible and at the end buy the one that is perfect for you!
