Your name was a bit of a giveaway tbh.

Although Dravid is my favourite player I voted for Ponting just in case he burst into tears again at more vicious, biting Pommie humour.

My favuorite player is Dravid as i am an indian supporter, although i would have to say that they are players as equally as good.

You spelled Kalis as Khallis as in pure :p

Count me in as Inzi fan.

Good question...

UNBELIEVABLE! How could Lara not be rated as one of the best batsman in the history of the game...

Don't quote me when you are discussing someone else's post.

Although if you really want to talk about "stupid comment", any reference to the ICC rankings as a definitive guide is right up there.

Why do you guys use such complicated expressions??

I don't get it. If you (clobber) are saying that using the ICC rankings as a definitive guide is stupid...I agree with you.

Is that what you were saying Clobber??

Jacques Kallis for ODIs?

That's a poor choice. That guy takes 300 balls to score a 50. He is a selfish player. He plays for his stats.

My best players are

1 LAra

2 Kallis

3 Mohammad yousaf

Inzamam is the best ever after Viv Richards - Imran Khan

A Class above the rest when it comes to having time against fast ballers - Ian Chappel

Its a treat to watch Inzamam coming down the pitch and hitting a spinner (read Kumble) over his head for a high and mighty sixer. - Sanjay Manjrekar

Posted By: Jyothika
Date Posted: 14 February 2006 at 3:34pm
Just incase you wanted to know, kumble has got inzamam out the most times.

Posted By: Majestic Khan
Date Posted: 15 February 2006 at 6:32pm
& you must also be knowing that Inzamam has hit the most sixes off Kumble, specially the ones he hits normally on his first ball to Inzamam.

right now i would say that dravid is in very gud form and because of hid consistensy he will very rarely be out of form. ponting is also in very gud form. lara sachin have to be on the list.

I would rate ponting as the best on current form and career record, currently the other player enjoying great form is Younus khan, If you include last year also it would ponting again followed by Inzimam.

Posted By: ramzi

Certainly Ponting.

Who would ever thought being 10/3 finsh up 368/5?

That was real great aggressive batting from the Aus captain

How do you put Sehawag among the best like Ponting, Inzy, kallis, Dravid?????

Posted By: wiseguy
Date Posted: 25 February 2006 at 6:37am
Pls guys what a stupid poll, you can vote as many times as you like, where is tendolkar, lara, if you think the guys listed are better than these two! The word best should never have been used, I think poll should be whos better among these and all of us should boost about our favourites. Tendolkar has been the best batsman in world cricket, although his form has declined and I believe he should retire honourably, but as long as he's playing he will be the undisputed best!

Posted By: saadadvanced7
Date Posted: 25 February 2006 at 6:40am
Tendulkar might be the highest run scorer this year because it looks to me like he's found his form again.

If Younis keeps scoring like he did against India in the test series, he'll probably score 2000+ runs.

It's not a matter of how boring it is, but how good it his. He is a quality player and whether boring or not, he needs to be given respect.

Posted By: Clobber
Date Posted: 26 February 2006 at 5:48pm
if he plays an innings that actually benefits his team for once instead of just massaging his average he might get a bit more respect

Posted By: Jyothika
Date Posted: 26 February 2006 at 5:51pm
Are you trying to say that his innings' never benifit his team? Well then why not just keep him out of the team?

Posted By: ANIL KUMBLE

he plays for his average thats why hes a selfish batsmen

Until Kallis stops playing for his average, and starts supporting the team a bit more, I won't give him complete respect!

Righte now Ponting is the best and Dravid is second. It's just that Dravid is not in his usual form. He is still in very very good form, but he normally is very very very very very.... You get my point. But it won't be long by the time he gets the very raise to the power of 30 form.

Since this thread did not specify current player or old player. I can put a player from any year of cricket.
So the best batsman in the world is obviously that way Sir Donald Bradman. I salute him . Did you guys know that he is faster than many players in the world today.
He used to makes his 300's in a day.

The best test batsman today according to runs scored and average is Younis Khan. He demolished India in the India vs. Pakistan Test Series.

Posted By: Clapo
Date Posted: 28 March 2006 at 8:23am
I think mr Ponting is streaks ahead... as i said in another thread.. 557 runs and 4 centuries already in only 3 tests this year

Posted By: RightHandBat
Date Posted: 28 March 2006 at 9:15am
Certainly, Ricky Ponting. Those two hundreds in the 2nd Test against SA. He's in terrific form. Has made 30 test hundreds, and he has made centuries 3 times in each innings of a test match.

Posted By: opc10
Date Posted: 29 March 2006 at 2:29am

Ponting IS the best batsmen of the ERA.

That includes Lara, Tendaulkar, Richards, Chappell,etc....

When all the arguments subside about quality of opposition, how they look, technique, etc. The only true indicator is averages. And i mean averages against countries that can actually play cricket...

His average is comparable with Tendaluker, Dravid and Kallis(All up around the mid 50s). However, look at Tendaulker, Kallis and Dravid's averages against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. That combines with the number of innings played against these minnows, has bumped their averages up by app. 2-4.

Conversely, ponting has played only a couple of innings against both countries with a surprisingly modest average.

Take out averages against these 2 countries and Pontings still stands at around 58, whilst the others drop back down to about 52-53.

Ponting is the best current batsman and icing on the cake is the fine form he has , infact for last 18 months he has been the most prolific, where as the nearest rival inzi has a severe slump and he has gone bad, the only one performing in the same way is M. hussey another ausie!

Posted By: abubakar52

Yes very true Ponting is definetly the best in the world right now. This is the test rankings.

1   Ricky Ponting AUS

2   Matthew Hayden AUS

3   Jacques Kallis SA

4   Inzamam-ul-Haq PAK

5   Rahul Dravid IND

6   Younis Khan PAK

7   Brian Lara WI

8   Mohammad Yousuf PAK

If its right now I would also say Jaffer, and Then Dhoni, even if he is not in form right now. They passed 500 because of him. He hit 69 in 52 balls will 6 sixes and 4 fours. Those runs were needed.

It will be best in the world since, it will be hard to break that record. He's out form right now at internatinal level. He's doing really good in county cricket, he might be in form to hit few more centuries.
